I played Poipu in September '11. The course had fairly recently reopened after rebuilding all their greens. And the greens are like ones I have never played. They are seeded with a hybrid grass that grows so tight the smoothness of the greens are consistent from edge to edge. The color of the greens is consistent across the entire surface. No dark spots, no brown spots. There isn't discernible grain. The pro shop guy said he still hasn't figured them out and that is the case. Hit a wedge up to the green and it lands fairly softly but doesn't leave a ball mark. Crazy. I loved the course.
