Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Played 9/12/09 - My third time at this course. Have always been afraid of the slow play noted in prior reviews but I haven't experienced it yet. We maybe had to wait on three or four holes in each round but nothing too bad.
This is a fun course I always enjoy playing because it's a little short but still challenging. I have never paid the weekend rack rate of $86 which is way too steep for what you get. The fairways this last round were not in good shape - looks like they patched in a lot of places and the patch areas were large. I don't know what happened because in my prior rounds earlier this year the fairways were in good shape. Greens and tee boxes were in great shape and the marshall kept all groups moving.

Played 9/7/09 Labor Day. Five hours and fifty minutes for 18 holes !!!! I was very disappointed - especially after playing here before and having a good time. Why did they have to jam the course full of groups ?? (It wasn't one or two slow groups - every hole was being played) Why did I not see a marshall once in my round ?? Three foursome waiting to tee off on a par 3 ?? It's one thing when you go to an AMERICAN GOLF facility to experience this kind of course mismanagement but I expect better from Oak Quarry.
Played for the first time March 8th. Pace of play was good and the marshall kept all groups moving. The course is well maintained and has a good layout. Par 3 elevation changes were interesting. $90 is a little steep with it being so far from LA, but we got a discounted rate that made it well worthwhile. Will play again.
Played for the first time here on April 12th. I was overall very impressed, especially after reading some of the prior poor reviews. We got a discounted rate with it being Easter day and the course was practically empty. The tee boxes and fairways were in excellent shape and the greens pretty good - except a few that had small bare spots (generally away from the pin or on the edge of the green). This is a course that requires accurate tee shots for any chance to make par. The layout is challenging - there is not one boring hole on this course - unusual for SoCal. Everyone in my foursome agreed this is a course we will play again -well worth the 150 mile roundtrip drive. As a side note - if your afraid of bee's beware - the first five holes we could hear thousands of bee's humming in the woods - they flew around (and in between) us on the third green but did not bother us otherwise.
