Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!I Played El Dorado Park in Long Beach CA today. I paid the normal full walking price of $44 despite knowing that the greens had been aerated. Typical aerations are at least playable to some extent. But the greens on this course were buried in a coat of sand.
The course, in my opinion, should have been discounted 33% because the greens were unplayable if you take your putting seriously. I figure that a golf course should only charge normal pricing if the course is 100% playable. In this case the tee box and fairways were playable (I don't count the rough because the rough is the rough) so I an not happy that El Dorado management disrespected their customers by charging the full cost to play a course that was only 66% playable.

Played the Links at Victoria today Dec 3, 2016 for $51 each with a cart. Unfortunately the course was not worth the money. Owners have failed to keep this place in playing condition. Fairways continue to have hardpacked dirt patchs/areas, and at least three (3) of the greens had damage from what I suspect was oil or hydraulic fluid, that striped the greens. Otherwise the greens are very good and the tee boxes are very good. Breakfast was really good too, as was the practice putting area. Driving range is under construction. Too much money for the condition of the course. Recommended to the staff/owners to convert the course to a desert course. It will be the only one in the area and they can then devote their resources to the fairways and other areas that will bring this course to life again.
We played a tournament at Costa Mesa (Los Lagos course) on 10-28-06 and the tee boxes were the worst in the country. Dirt and sand....It's disgusting that a business would present its customers with such a mess.
I played on 10-14-05 and paid a discount internet rate of about $40 with a cart. Which is a good thing, because the course never was worth the price they charge for it.
