It's a nice target golf layout and does not suffer from typical target style gimmicks with too many blind shots, etc. Good variety of holes. Course was in good condition but was heavily over-watered in spots. Would definitely play again.
Played today for the 1st time. Curious how it compares with the other 18 on property.... This is not the most challenging layout, but in fair+ shape with some challenging par 3s. The back 9 is a stiffer test than the front. Pace of play was good and the price is right.
As a fan of traditional layouts, I really liked this track. The greens however were a HUGE dissapointment. It appears that nobody that plays here fixes their divots, I truly have never seen anything like it. The bumpiest greens I have ever played, particularly on hole #1, and holes 15-17. The poor greens take much of the value of this place away.
This may be the most poorly designed course ever conceived in the United States, surprising since Cary Bickler is not a total chump. To have done so little with such a phenomenal piece of real estate is a tragedy. This could have been a world class par 70 layout, instead it is a par 72 abomination. I play golf 2-3 times a week and work less than 10 minutes from this facility and after 3 "open minded" rounds there since its opening I can honestly state I would never play this course again unless sex or money was involved.
Played here for the 1st time after reading all the great reviews...would definitely go back. As someone who dislikes having to use carts, I really enjoyed the fact that this great layout was walkable. Only complaint was that the pin placements were a little ridiculous on a few holes. Generous fairways allow you to really go after it with the driver, bring your A game with the putter and you could score very well here.
Played here yesterday (Sunday) for the 1st time, really liked the classic course layout and its good course to walk. A little surprised they send out ALL 5-somes, but somehow it almost works as pace was ok, a few backups, round took 5 hours. Greens & fairways were in much better shape than one might expect at this price point with this much traffic on the course.
