Went out around noon today paired up with another single who turned out to be very pleasant company. I've reviewed this course in detail in the past so this will be short. Solid all around conditions. Tees flat and well covered, a few isolated, damp, thin spots on otherwise nice fairways, recoverable rough, firm bunkers, and reasonably clean, medium quick greens that were fun to putt on with some subtle and challenging contours.

Made it around in about 4.25 hrs with some intermittent waiting. Nicely maintained, shorter course with two pretty different nines. A very relaxed and enjoyable day of golf.

Played Alhambra on Saturday with a buddy and were lucky enough to avoid the rain all day with a 10:30am tee time and $51 with a cart playing from the blue tees. As much as it rained the night before, we were expecting a swamp, but the course actually drained pretty darn well and there weren't too many areas with standing water.

The course itself gets too low a rating for its short length, but there are plenty of holes at Alhambra where you can get in trouble if you're not on target. It's a shame that you can post a very good score here and that won't be reflected in your handicap at all. But I digress … the course is a fun layout with a good amount of opportunities to go for greens early.

Conditions at Alhambra despite the recent aeration are quite good. Fairways are in very nice shape overall (as usual) and the rough is also good. You won't find too many poor lies at Alhambra which is great - they really do take good care of this place. The recently punched greens are healing well and only showed minimal evidence of punching, however they were a tad bit spongy and slow from all the previous night's rain, and could probably use a flat roller pretty soon to really get the speed moving again.

Bunkers and tee boxes both in good shape as well. Always have a nice time playing this cool little track but I am a bit put off by the terrible ROI after a good round when it comes to the handicap (if you care about things like that). I will always come back here though a few times per year as they are deserving of the business and do a great job taking care of their customers.

Went out at 1:30 as a two-some on Friday, 3/9. I was walking for a $20 twilight rate while my buddy elected to ride. Short story is that it was well worth it. Fairways have the winter thinness and patches that are currently common, but predominantly green, generally quite playable, with some cushier lies to be found. Tee boxes here are pretty consistently level with coverage. The rough was anything from comparable to the fairways, to hardpan. I was in two bunkers and they were both pretty firm. The greens were in good shape — receptive, reasonably quick, and generally clean. The two-some behind us joined us at the ninth, left us at the 14th to join friends on the fourth hole, and the two of us finished in just about four hours on the dot. Far from being the most demanding course around, but it has its challenges, friendly service, a nice facility and was quite enjoyable.

I know some people will snicker, but I really enjoy playing this course. It's just FUN! While there are a number of rather "indifferent" holes, there are just a lot of enjoyable holes to play on this short course. Greens were reasonably quick and true. Fairways are mostly good, with a few areas needing attention.

Staff is always friendly and at least for seniors, the price is right. Despite being busy, able to get out early and had no issues with pace of play. Fortunately did not encounter any delays with back nine play. The only downside for me playing here is that it takes a long time for me to get here from the OC.

Played this morning. 2.5 H POP. Greens are in great shape. They are clean, chip/putt great and putt fast. Fairways have good coverage, good roll and good lies. Bunkers are clean and very playable. Little to no rough at all. Tee boxes are all level, clean and playable. Customer service is excellent at all levels (thanks Pete and Michelle and Birdies staff).

Tee boxes were all clean and playable; fairways had some firmness (though you will find some muddy areas) and provided good lies (again some with mud) and decent roll; bunkers were all fine and playable; no rough to speak of, other than out of bound areas; greens were in great shape and chipped/putted great and with good speed. Customer service excellent at all levels.

Played today in a POP of 3 H. Course is in typical S CA winter conditions, with both green and brown fairways. Though the fairways are nice, with the exception of a few muddy areas. Tee boxes are all fine. Bunkers are playable. No rough to speak of. Greens are in very nice shape. They are chipping/putting just fine and have a nice speed to them (especially down hill). Customer service was excellent (thanks to Pete and the ladies in Birdies).

Played yesterday in a POP 2.5 H. Course is in good shape, other than a few tee boxes. Found no issues with fairways; no trap issues; tee boxes a mixed bag, as they were chewed up (not all) and looked like they did not endure aeration well? Greens are very good (all of them). Great customer service.
