Managed to bring in 9 for twilight. Pace of play was slow at first but definitely picked up. Not quite sure it's worth the value with $22.75/Twilight golf but any day I play golf is considered a good day in my book. Grouped with a threesome. And it was a windy day. Definitely a 2 club wind. Greens were hard. They rolled fairly true here at least I can say that for the front 9 holes. Sand in bunkers are well stocked. Tees are fairly flat and fairways are lush. Rough is thick and deep around 3 inches there. Course difficulty is considerably easy. You can recover from sprayed shots but a surprise was the greens. They rolled fairly true and ran pretty fast. The wind added additional difficulty. They are really trying to update the place with a new practice green, chipping area and golf range. My personal opinion, golf course is fun enough and pace of play was quick enough to make you look past the easy course set up. I would be playing here more often if they can keep up the current course conditions.

Update for this track- I have not been here in about a year and walked on single at 10 am 3rd group up.(cash only here !!!) Thought I would miss some sanded greens, but nope. They were all punched and sand. Not too bad over all just slow and bumpy. I had a hard time with anything outside 3 feet. LOL. The rest of the course played nice and the group I got paired with were older gents but they bomb it, so that was nice. Bunkers were a little hard but played ok. Wind came up to 20 mph gust and made long shots tough. I had fun. $26 walking.

Been a while since I have played any golf. Nice to get out of the house for a few hours before housework. Weather looked stormy but turned out decent -- great weather for golf -- overcast with a little wind. Tee boxes are fairly uneven. Finding a decent spot to hit your ball from can be a problem. Fairways were consistent and lush. Bunkers are hard as concrete from rains -- you will get a lot of bounce. Greens, you have two types -- the front 9 and the back 9. Greens on front 9 are fairly smooth. I was surprised they are taking fairly good care of the course. Very few ball marks. Greens rolled fairly smooth but slow. You get a lot of release when you hit your approach shot to these greens. Greens on Back 9 were soft. You can be aggressive. Breaks more prominent here and greens thicker and slower. Overall I am surprised the conditions were fairly decent. Just bring cash as they do not accept CC payment for green fees.

Played today 2-24 in just over 4 hours. The Course is inpretty good shape - the quality work of the new greenskeeper is apparent. The Bent grass greens on the front 9 generally putt somewhat faster then the Poa ana on the back 9. The service is very good and the weekday pace is excellent.

The new greenskeeper at Alondra, who was hired around 2 years ago, knows what he is doing. I have not been disappointed with the conditions here today and for the past year. Alondra will never reach great status but for the money and given the amount of play it gets it is in good shape.

You get what you pay for at Alondra which was all that was expected...but can someone please put some actual sand in the bunkers? That's not too much to ask, is it? The bunkers are baked- play them ... Continue »

Played on 8/13/10 teed off at 2:45pm, starter was cool and gave my buddy and I the twilight rate. Started off fast but dead stop at the par three fourth hole. The foursome in carts in front of us were taking about 15 minutes on the greens, ever green. Got pace of play was horrible. Sun settled down at 8:15pm and we were on the 18th tee. Gave up and walked in. Also, the "regular" 3pm women's five-some twilight brigade hit into us twice. You know who you are short lady with the white visor =P

Played 8/16/10 teed off at 2:15pm. Finished at 6:30pm. fast play. No complaints but bunkers were still like the asphalt in the parking lot but with more rocks than sand.

Played 8/17/10 teed off at 2:30pm. 2 kids and their dad in front of us taking their time practicing. Three of us played through and front nine took us 1hour and 30 mins. Back nine took us 2 hours and 30mins (the three of us caught the group in front of us). excellent time of 4 hours.

Overall I think this is a great course but it is poorly managed. The greens fee is the best in southern California. $25 Mon - Fri. Even the LA city courses charges more on Friday. I live in west LA and I drive to Lawndale to play golf because it is cheaper. Not too much traffic on the 405 going south at 2pm or coming up north at 6-8pm either. Greens are in decent condition even though first three greens have different grass compared to the rest of the greens. Fairways are either lush, bare, or heavily wet with tire tracks. Bunkers are pathetic. Almost all the bunkers around the greens are clay mud with a sprinkle of sand surrounded by rocks. Tee boxes are decent but some have pot holes, or are hard as a rock, or need to be cut. Also, the regular guys that play there in the afternoons are D**ks. I am asian and it embarresses me when these guys are rude and have no manners (walking on lines, hitting before their turn, walking in front of you before you get to hit, walking off the green before everyone putts out, or talking in your back swing). I must play there about two or three times a week and the same guys/ladies at the same time. Also, management needs to have a better system of giving out tee times. It seems that certain tee times are given to certain people on a regular basis. I have called at 5:30am for a tee time for a foursome a week in advance and those blocks of times are already reserved. With all the negatives I still go back because it is still the best value around. I could pay 13 dollars more at Rancho Park but then I would also have to endure their 6 hour rounds.
