Played on 1/2/10. Front nine was recently redesigned. This course is easy to score on. Almost all fairways are flat. The greens are very slow and bumpy. Played a five hour round. Staff is great. A fun course to play on if you are not looking for five star conditions. Price not too steep. Will be back.

Played today. It was crowded. Greens in fair to poor. The reason, golfers you need to fix your divots. You also need to pick up your feet when you walk. Shuffling your feet on the green only destroys the green. Had to pat down more than a few of these greens in places. Sand in bunkers are good. Saw more than my fair share. Fairways in good shape. Pace of play was ok, but it was twilight so it was crowded and windy. Remember to bring a sweater in the afternoon folks it's the marine layer and it likes to drop the temp at least 5* in the first hour the wind kicks up. Gotta say though compared to before... the hard work is beginning to pay off. Just need to let you golfers know that you have to take care of the course too. That means raking your bunker mess, fixing your divots, and picking up your feet once in a while. Oh yes, Greenskeeper that sand you have in the bunker also has gravel. Had to clear a path literally of little stones and pebbles. That was not cool.

Must be the reason the grass looks cooked from all the hot weather. Pace of play was decent for pre-twighlight. Greens gotta say they need to fix their divots, my group included. Loads of them on the greens. Need to fix that with a sign or something b/c it seems no one cares.

Played Friday afternoon. The County should be ashamed of the conditions. I understand conserving water, but grass does need some. When I can drive the ball over 300 yards, something is not right. Anyway, the front nine (the renovated side) is very dry, tight lies in many places on the fairway, with what looks like Bermuda greens. They were okay if on the slow side. The back nine, which was not re-done, has what look to be Poa greens and more (relatively) lush conditions. These greens were soft and bumpy. Weird with the different kind of greens. Played at Los Verdes today and it is hard to believe the two courses are both LA County courses. I had hoped with the renovations that the County was finally going to give Alondra some attention and bring it up to the conditions of the better maintained courses, such as Lakewood, Los Verdes and Simi. Apparently not.

Alondra is much improved since the remodel and the addition of a new greenskeper. For a muni it is very good value for the buck and I am glad it is in my neck of hte woods.

Why does my 9:35 tee time become a 9:50? Why are there 3 5-somes waiting on the #3 tee? Why is there no marshal? Why are those guys playing from the blues and hitting it 50 yards at a time? Why is everyone incapable of fixing a ball mark? Why is this guy's wife not picking up after hitting the ball 10+ times a fairway? Why does the restaurant never answer the phone, resulting in a major wait at the turn? Why is there no cart girl on a packed course? Why do they only take cash? Why did it take almost 3 hours to play the front 9? Why did I decide to waste my time and money at this poorly run dump?

Played Alondra monday 6/15 and got out right away after showing up at 2. Pace of play was great at times and slowed at the 8th hole, right before people tend to get messed up at the par 5 9th. Greens were in very good condition, bumpy at times because of ball marks, but overall soft and receptive to approach shots. This is one of the better value municipal courses that is pretty easy to play, and fun for the low-mid handicaps to be putting for birdie on most holes. Overall a good recommendation to try the place out and keep in mind that it's still a Muni.

I have to agree with the previous review, the greens at Alondra are in great shape. I've played here for many years and I can't remember a time in which all the greens were playing this nicely in one round. It does still seem that some of the grass in the renovated front nine fairways is still having a hard time. It's a bit yellow and over watered in some spots, especially approaching the greens on 1, 3, 4 and 8.
A buddy and I teed off about 11:30 on Sunday and we were grouped with 3 very sweet Korean ladies. I thought the round would take forever but they kept pace and we finished in five hours. Five hours seems to be the pace at Alondra if you tee off on the weekends after 10:00 or so. I think the remodel on the front 9 may have helped pace a little bit because I remember some weekend rounds there that would run close to six hours a couple of years ago.
In the end, Alondra has always been that "Ugly Duckling" of a golf course that for some reason I've always liked to play. "Cash Only" policy sucks, but it's not a deal breaker. The staff at Alondra is have always seemed nice. Best of all, you can't beat the weather in the South Bay. Even at the peak of summer there's alway a breeze (which usually gets stronger by the end of your round just in time to play into on the par 5 18th hole!). Make sure to say Hi to Sofia at the bar after your round.

I have to say that Alondra has improved tremendously over the past six months. I think they brought in a new greenskeeper who has done a fabulous job. You can actually see the cut of the fairway and the rough on th holes now and the greens are in great shape. We play really early so I can't comment on the pace of play. We have been teeing off at around 5:20 a.m. and we are done before 9:00 a.m. Its great.
