Played Angeles National last week. Greens rolled smooth and fast yet very firm. Fairways and rough were brown, dormant and thin. My tee shots were off and paid the price. Not a forgiving course to say the least. Miss a fairway and your ball is in the surrounding desert like brush terrain...don't bother trying to find it. Interesting yet flat layout. I paid $70 and thought that was too much given the poor conditions of the fairways and rough. Probably worth $70 in the Spring. Pace of Play was good at 4hrs.

Loved this course. $70 to play a late morning round on a weekday though golf now. It was well worth that price. Customer service was top notch. We walked up with our bags and there was someone there to take them and placed them on carts while we checked in. Starter was tentative and gave us water and ice.

The tee boxes were lush, flat, and mostly undamaged. The fairways were brown but very playable. The greens were great. They were undamaged, fast, and rolled the ball true. They've recently laid out a lot of mulch around the course to save water. It didn't bother me, and I had no problem hitting off of them when needed to. The course also had a great practice facility.

I'll definitely be back if I can play for that rate.

played 10-31 in the afternoon. tee boxes where ok had to search for a level spot on some. fairways where a little thin but still ok to hit from. rough not that long but not in good shape thin in some areas and bare in others. sand traps a little thin and firm. greens where in good shape a little bumpy but that was mostly from morning play. dont think i would pay full rack rate for this course but if you can find a deal its worth playing.

Played today @ 7:30 am. Greens were fast and true, running @ 11, even in the morning and got a tad faster by noon time. Fairways in good shape, and rough was patchy at times. They are going through maintenance where there are replacing parts of the fairway with the red chips. Maintenance crew had no etiquette...and cursed back in Spanish when asked to quiet down during tee shots. Layout is unique and a tough track even from the blues. Sand traps were in decent shape. Tee boxes were beat up. The starter is useless here...as he lights up cigarette as we approach the 1st tee was obviously to the tee times. The girls at the turn had no idea what they were doing and it took 10 mins to order 2 cokes. The lunch staff was good though. The cart GPS has to be one of the most annoying ones every experience with constant beeps for no reason. They are running a promotion right now for the fall. $80, is still too much for this course. To make matters worse..played with some jerkoff who played from the black tees...and insisted on hitting two drivers and two approach shots; at times without letting us know about the 2nd ball... as balls zoom past us the other single that played with us. I would of shoved a 7 iron up his ass if he did that to me. I am usually not this angry after a round...hahahah

played early jusy after 8am the pace of play was very good, the thing is the greens, they are so very true with nice speed, I'm going to say 9.5, best greens I've played since this heat wave started. Over all the course is in very good shape, I had a good day off the tee and only saw the centers of the fairways, which were fine. Found a few bunkers, and I must say it was me and not the conditions where the trouble began. Great day, and a good deal, with Golf Now

Played here in a tournament last week (midweek), and surprisingly, the course is in good condition in spite of the amount of heat in southern CA. I have always enjoyed tournaments, especially the swag that comes along with some well organized and historical events. Our team shot a 61, and we didn't place. But, that's a story for another time.

For those that aren't too familiar with Angeles National Golf Club, this track is laid out almost like a lynx style course on many holes. Fairways are tight with plenty of dog legs. If you are a decent ball striker, keep the tee ball on the short grass, and you should do fine. The greens were rolling about 10-10.5, and some of the greens are small, and some have a good amount of undulation. The fairways were in decent shape with some brown patches here and there. The rough was a little of the thick side, but why worry if you keep it in the short grass! Bunkers had good sand - period.

Although I would never pay full rack rate here (too expensive), there are many deals you can get from their website during the week. The clubhouse is really nice, there is a nice bar, and the food isn't bad at all.

All in all, I would play here again on a special occasion. I wouldn't be able to afford making it a regular weekly track, but for those that have never been here before - go at least once.

Played Sunday 2:10pm. The good points about this course: Interesting Layout, level and fairly lush tee boxes, smooth and medium fast greens, good sand in the bunkers. Now the bad points: The fairways and rough are poor. These areas have far more brown and yellow areas than green. The fairways are EXTREMELY thin, with numerous hard pan and dead grass areas. The rough is non-existent and very spotty and THIN. This place desperately needs water! I've played here 3 times over the past 10 weeks. It has become progressively drier and thinner. I wouldn't play here without a discounted rate. It is still playable at this point. But the fairways and rough are very poor, and getting worse.

Played Sunday afternoon 7/15. Conditions have not improved since the last time I was here two months ago. Although the course is quite playable, the fairways are very thin. Some areas are bare. However, this didn't affect play very often. This is a links style course with firm fairways that give a lot of roll, but these fairways are too thin. For the price they charge, the conditions continue to be sub-par. I do like the layout of this course, but without a discounted rate, I wouldn't play here. A rack rate of $125 for a Sunday tee time after 2pm is insane.

The greens are in good shape. They were medium fast. There are some unrepaired ball marks, but nothing too bad. The greens are so firm, you rarely make a mark on the greens anyway. The sand quality in the greenside bunkers is very good. I was in two fairway bunkers. They were firm, and there is very little sand along the edges. The tee boxes are mostly level, with a few areas a bit uneven.
