Played early this morning. Took advantage of the free birthday round special... I was the paying guest (happy bday big poppa...). staff was friendly and got us out pretty quick. Funny, I saw the GK plague in the proshop... pretty neat. Showed Bud my longest drive... 20 yards left in the bush! After I shook of the stage fright I managed to stay on the fairways! On to the course: course is in great condition. Teeboxes were leveled and well maintained. Fairways were nice and lush. Rough was pretty thick around the fairways and greens. If you're not straight or play your draw or fade right, you'll be going through several sleeves of balls. sand was nice, a little hard considering it was morning. Greens were fast and excellent. Pinplacements were a challenge. As the previous GKer wrote; not too many straight putts. And if you go at the pin it might roll away. Overall, course is in excellent shape. I'll definitely come back... next birthday is in DEC.

Played 8/7 for a free birthday round. The staff was friendly and very helpfull. The course is in great shape. The course is tough, you have to be pretty straight. The greens are pretty fast and not many are straight putts. If the pin is in the front, hit your second shot a little short. If you go at the pin and you don't spin the ball it will roll to the back. It is a fun course and it's beautiful. Make sure to bring extra golf balls. Bring plenty of water too, it get's pretty hot.

Course is in great shape. Tough course, but fun to play. Golf course staff was very helpful. Pace of play was great. I really enjoyed the golf aspects of the day. Non golf aspects were not as pleasant. Lots of construction for the new club house, things seemed on the verge of chaos and non golf staff was indifferent to customers.

Overall, the course is in excellent shape considering hot summer conditions on a daily basis. The greens are smooth, not as fast as times I've played there previously and brown in a few spots. Fairways, tee boxes & rough were all lush. Traps are well maintained with nice sand. The ESA areas are close to play on every hole and punitive. Our 4some was all 8-12 handicappers and we had probably 25? cumulative penalty strokes, so bring plenty of golf balls. The practice facility is top notch. you hit off grass with areas to putt and chip in addition to full shots.

Greens are TOUGH. Very subtle breaks and you have to play it. Not used to it considering I played Victoria a few days earlier. No comparison. Read the breaks and play it or fail miserably. One th... Continue »

Greens are TOUGH. Very subtle breaks and you have to play it. Not used to it considering I played Victoria a few days earlier. No comparison. Read the breaks and play it or fail miserably. One thing though fixed more than my fair share of divots. Why others don't repair their marks is beyond me. Greens were a little on the slow side compared to playing here previously but still rolled true and very tricky. Fairways in tip top shape. Rough was shaggy and very sticky. ESA EVERYWHERE so beware the errant shot. Agressive is not the answer; placement is. Was working my irons fairly well and should have used them instead of spraying ball with driver. Oh well save it for next time in cooler climes. Definately a return is in order.

I played Angeles National yesterday with Ringworld and Nickesquire1. In the heat of the summer, Angeles National still played beautifully. Greens were slower then when I have played this course in the past but still rolled smooth. There were a few greens where players need to do a much better job fixing their ball marks although. The fairways were exceptional as usual and the rough very lush in most places although a little thin in others. The sand traps were a bit disappointing in that half had excellent sand and the other half had very firm sand. Regarding the tee boxes, they were lush and level as expected. Overall, I was very pleased with the playing conditions on what I feel is a fabulous layout. I took some snaps of the clubhouse. Looks like it should be in place by the end of the year…Finally! The pace of play was outstanding as we finished in 4 hours as well as the service as we saw the cart girl 4 times on a weekday afternoon. Overall, I give the course a big thumbs up!

BTW - They've got the new EZ-GO carts and they ride like a dream.

Teed off early morning 7-18-08. The course is in very good shape overall, but I've seen it better. Fairways were good, fringe areas cut nicely. Some of the tee boxes were being aerated, and the greens were much more pockmarked than is typical - and they were rolling on the slow side; at least by this course's standards. The staff here still does a great job though; even though there weren't a lot of players out this a.m. there were marshals on the course, and they even put out a nice little gratis breakfast spread. OJ, pastries, cereal, fruit and coffee. A nice touch.

Played 7/15. Walked on as a single at 400 pm and finished all 18 holes by 745 pm. The course was fairly empty and I actually didn't catch up to anyone in front of me until the 8th hole. Everyone was gracious enough to allow me to pass through and I never had to join up with another group. The course was in great shape and the weather was hot but not unbearable. My one contention is that it is hard as heck to get the greens to hold your approach. Numerous times I landed within 5 ft. of the hole but due to the greens my ball ended up 20-25 ft. away. For a long hitter, I forgot how much wasteland comes into play. It seems that every hole there was some sort of wasteland in my landing area around 300 yds. out. The GPS is spot on but I still hit driver when I should've been hitting a 5 wood or hybrid. Once you play this course once it really allows you to understand where you need to be off the tee and where you are going to get into trouble.

This was my second time playing here and I improved from an 89 the first time out about 6 mos. ago to an 82 yesterday, which included 5 shots OB!

This is a fun course and for $50 twilight you really can't beat it. I know Brookside is $35 for the same time slot but you will be lucky to get 12 holes in before darkness there, while at ANGC you will invariably always get 18 in my dark. I would recommend this course to everyone and GK is right, it does have the best playing conditions in LA Co.

greens are still 2 weeks away. bumpy and not fully repaired. not worth the $120 they started charging again. overall the course is good, the greens are just taking too long to get back.
