Fun little layout. Greens were pretty fast and bunkers were good quality. Fairways weren't the best, as some great drives left me on bare patches, sometimes hitting from the rough was easier. Lots of trees to help bounce your ball back into the fairway. Pace was as expected for a saturday at a muni. Not bad, I'd play again, but not rushing to do so.

Played 2/20. Like many other reviewers, I found the fairways to be thin, and not in great condition. That said, it is winter golf and this is a muni course. Greens and were in decent shape, tee boxes were marginal. Pace of play was slow. We went off as a threesome (threesome in front of us) at 1:18 and didn't get around (barely got 17 in; sunset was 5:44). The highlight was the Hamms beer for $2.75. If we made it around, I would have given it an overall "thumbs-up" for winter conditions.

Played the course for the first time since over a year ago. Not much has changed since. Still in the same shape - fairways are in terrible shape. Seems like there are golfers/hackers that are "alergic" to repairing divots and had one hole being "watered" in the mid fairway distance for over 2 hours. Couldn't understand the logic. Finished in 4 1/2 hours, which is not bad considering. But the later Tee times, after 0900, the course was over runned and delays prevailed. MUST warn fellow golfers, my clubs were stolen in the club house, not outside, while dining. So pay attention and be forwarned!!!

First time playing Harding. I thought it was overall a fun course to play. The fairways are in pretty tough shape. Lots of bare spots and thin lies. Greens are surprisingly good considering the amount of traffic it gets, although no one else in our foursome seemed to be fixing ball marks other than me. The overall level of disrespect for the course by the regular patrons is obvious everywhere: Unraked or poorly raked bunkers, no filled-in divots, cigarette butts in the divot mix bins and no marshalling to be seen anywhere. The tee boxes are probably the worst I have ever seen anywhere. There is very little grass and unfixed divots make up most of the lies. Pace of play was 4:45, not bad considering the amount of traffic. The process of getting a City Reservation Card and making the tee times was remarkably painless. All things considered, a fun day on a fun course, just really crappy conditions except the greens.

The course plays a little slow at first. Usually after the first par 3, which is the 5th hole, does it start to pick up. The greens are in good shape right now and have some speed to them. I've played Harding many times and this is the fastest I've seen them. There were ball marks that were not fixed, sad to say, but it is expected on the city courses. The fairways were a bit thin, some of them had bare spots. But nothing too bad. The rough wasn't too thick, you could easily get out of it without a problem. The sand traps were horrible. You were lucky not to be in a foot print. People that play Harding don't know how to rake them. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm guessing people don't want to take the time and are too lazy to walk and grab a rake and clean up their mess. Some of the tee boxes were a little bare and uneven, but nothing to alter your tee shot.

Played Sunday 12/14. Went in 8:20am as an single. Many people were in the waiting list. One person came in 6:30am but still couldn't tee off. Left and had a hair cut and went back around 10:30 and check my waiting status. They let me out around 10:45am but there was 3-4 groups waiting on the tee box. Able to tee off around 11:30am and finish the round around 4:45pm. Spent one whole day to play 18 holes... that was little too much. I don't think I will go back for a LONG TIME.
Fairway conditions are OK. Greens are slow to normal. Many ball marks on the greens.
Bunkers are normally thin and hard.

It's great value course. $31 non-resident. Walked, thanks to Miguel for getting the tee time. Practice green was nothing like putting on the course. Practice green was slow and bumpy. Harding's greens were inconsistent. Some fast, some very slow. Overall it was OK ... probably due to moisture and hazy day. Sun was not able to burn off the moisture on some greens. Fairways were a bit patchy in places. No grass. They were letting the rough grow pretty thick. Hard to find balls in the haze. Tee boxes are in good shape, reasonably flat. They rotate the tee postions well enough. Problem though with the fairways... need to pay attention. Turf is really inconsistent. Some places green, others thin, yet still others dirt. This course is a personal favorite of mine from college so it was nostalgic to return to a course I find preferable to the length of Wilson (sister course). Course has character just need to pay attention to details. I know it's a city course. I know there is a credit and budget crisis here in LA but come on. This is one of the few sources of income for the city aside from property tax and other stuff they charge for .. the least they can do is allow the course to put money back into these little jewels so they can improve attendance. The better looking the course and the best deal in LA for a daily fee come on ... it's a great combo. I know I am preaching to the choir but something has to be said. So I suppose consider it said.
