Pros- Wonderful layout and always great staff. The Kia Classic for the ladies was here before and the qualifier for the Northern Trust and a number of quals for US Open are here. Layout is awesome. Hilly championship design challenges everyone. Challenging course that is a hidden gem to many in the Ventura/Westside area. 30 min from downtown. Both front and back force a difficult stretch on you. Holes 4-7 are d%mn near impossible to break par on as a group, as is the 12-16 stretch. Course really tests accurate driving and consistant play. Greens right now are fabulous
Cons- Tough for me to even really fill in this box because I normally love this course, one of my top 2 or 3 around, but the conditions were terrible. The heat must be munching this course up because except for perfect greens, this course is chewed up. This time of year is tough in the IE but these guys always have great conditions except for about 1 month out of the year. Played in May and it was perfect, now it is not good. Fairways are bare, rough is splotchy. Give it a couple weeks, let the weather cool down some, and get out and play this place. I think they are making a grass switch with season and it is causing some tough conditions.
Overall, disappointed with conditions but a good experience is a couple cooler weeks away, will be back early Sept.

Played 5/30/12. One of the best in So Cal. Greens a little slower than normal, but rolling well and very receptive. Fairways, perfect, unless you happened to find a divot or gopher hole. Bunkers that I played from were excellent, although playing partners said they hard a couple of very firm packed sand lies. Very picturesque, great views with some elevation changes. Only drawback at this location is the driving range. Mats only, and a good hike to first tee box. Enjoy a best in class course.

Got out with a 4-ball on the Ike early Sunday, course is in great shape overall, can't make enough good comments: fairways excellent and rough can be difficult (as it should). Tee boxes were recently punched but it did not effect play at all, bunkers were all well maintained, and the greens as good as I've seen them. Customer service is always top notch so I'm surprised at the previous review ... maybe someone having a bad day. POP was 4.5 hrs. Recommended.

Course was in great shape tee to green. As I mentioned on another post the greens were allowed to get slightly shaggy to prevent burn out. Today they had been slightly sanded and powdered fertilizer was spread, majority of them were med fast, with a couple slow ones and some were firm. Overall great playing conditions as usual. Also FYI they were filming a commercial for Rattling Stick on the Babe course. They are a company that films advertising spots for different companies.

My last review two weeks ago needs revision: the course is in great shape, for sure, just a bit slower both on the fairway and putting surface. Looks like the GK'er has raised the mower blades a bit so they're running slow for IH standards (I'd guess a 9 on the stimp). That doesn't mean when you play it will be the same, just be ready ... this weekend the practice greens were faster than on the course and we left a few putts just short. Otherwise, a great golf experience. Kobe beef burgers are the best!

Played Ike this morning. No need to go into great detail about how awesome this course is. It's a beautiful setting. It's a very challenging layout with lots of great elevation changes and tight shots. Bunkers everywhere. Simply fantastic course.

I took a Monday off from work just to take advantage of their great "Mega Monday" deals ($55 on Ike, $50 on Babe), which is hard to beat here in SoCal for two premium courses. Teed off a little after 7am. We were stuck behind a pretty slow group, but I was enjoying the course so much I didn't mind the relaxed pace. All in all, we finished in just under 5 hours. The Ike course is in excellent shape. I found the fairways and rough to be great. Bunkers nice and fluffy (and I found a lot of them today). Greens a bit firm and VERY fast. Don't be above the hole here! What a wonderful golf facility and great Monday deal! Wish I could take every Monday off!

The fairways on both Ike and Babe are cut down a bit right now and have an incredible amount of roll, not sure how long they'll keep it that way but a solid tee shot will run out 30-50 yards, really! Greens at medium speed but firm, and will release unless it's a well struck approach. Greenskeeper is doing an incredible job, both courses are in prime condition ... bunkers still pristine, you'll need to wear sunglasses hitting out of them the sand is so bright. Fantastic customer service from the range, to the parking lot, clubhouse, restaurant ... always a treat to come to the Hill. Special opportunity is their monthly Guest Days events: a weekday afternoon shotgun with dinner & raffle for a great price ... and you don't have to be a member to enter. Played the Ike 3/9/12. Near perfect conditions right now. Fairways, greens, and bunkers are all great condition. Very tough layout, and on this day a several nasty pin placements. Large greens with a lot of undulation, and rolling fast, so miss a 10 footer long, and you might have 40' coming back. Truly one of the best tracks in So Cal. Enjoy it now.
