ARE you TIRED of playing courses where the fairways are very dormant, dried out, greens are bumpy, many UN-repaired ball marks, hard to find a level lie on the tee boxes, bunkers are in terrible condition and the customer service BITES and the Pro-shop lies about the current conditions JUST to get you down there to play?

Well then, do I have the course course for you!!!

YOU MUST PLAY THE "IKE" RIGHT NOW, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

I was available for the practice rounds in preparation of the Northern Trust Monday Qualifier that was held on Monday Feb. 13th.

The greens were rolled to improve a little of the bumpiness and to increase the speed of the greens for the Qualifying participants.

At this time, these are the BEST conditions I have ever seen at the "IKE".
In fact, the Superintendent is a recent winner of a very prestigious award! The staff is very friendly without being too overbearing. There is a shuttle that will take you to the driving range or back to the starter...yes driving range that has two levels where you hit off of mats, NOT GRASS...my only negative observation.

BOTH nines open up with Par 5's, the Par 3's are very challenging, you have to know how to get around this layout. The upside is it's not as tight as the other course "BABE". The 18th hole on the IKE plays as long as 670 yards from the BLACK tees, even though the tee box is slightly elevated still a long way from the white tees.

I believe the best deal going right now is the "MEGA Monday's", check the website to see if the deal is available.

Inside the Pro-shop is a great deal for just $10.00 (plus a little tax) a detailed yardage book that has BOTH courses that is wire bound and gives plenty of information! There are no GPS units on the carts but most laser units should work with ease.

Years ago, a trolley system was used to get the carts back up to the hilltop. Now? they created a covered fencing that has flowers and ivy growing over the top of the enclosed fence so the carts could travel safely to the top without getting hit with golf balls off of hole #2 IKE.

I believe the "IKE" will be holding a local NCAA Women's & Men's golf tournament Feb. 19th - 21st.

Yes, the Ike is in great shape right now, but be warned that green speed is currently as fast as I've seen in more than a year ... must be a 13 on a stimp. Just a bit more course management when hitting approach shots and chip/pitches. Still a great golf experience.

We had a Saturday noon tee time for Ike. The course was surprisingly empty for Saturday afternoon, and to our benefit, we were able to tee off on time with a group ahead and no group behind. The course was immaculate as usual - level teeing ground, carpet like fairway and nice fluffy sands in the bunkers. I also noticed that they are making constant effort to make this a friendlier course. I always seem to favor left when teeing off on 4th hole which often leaves me on the left hillside, and I noticed that they have cut away much of the shrubs and trees, so the ball can roll back down more often than before, but there is still enough trees to swallow errant balls if you hit left and high enough. I can't say too many bad things about this course for I personally think it is one of the best golf resort in Southern California. Service and facility is top class, including regular shuttle from the driving range to the club house, great restaurants to unwind after the round, nice snack shop on the way to the 10th hole and real nice practice facility next to St Andrews which is not always visible to non-golfing visitors. I always said the Torrey Pines which I have played plenty of times is over-rated and over-priced compared to these two courses at Industry Hills. They are just as long, just as challenging and best of all, they are price-worthy.

The Ike is in great shape, tee to green ... just a few damp spots in low lying areas to watch for and occasional spotty rough. Greenskeeper's doing a fantastic job keeping it in tip-top condition. Some real quick putts if you're above the hole, beware. Cart girl around when we needed her, good food afterward. Just a fun and challenging experience, but be aware of slow play on the weekends and Mondays.

Played on 1/2 with a bunch of my friends. For most of them, it was the first time playing, so they struggled on some holes (#2, #4).

Course is in great condition. Fairway is lush and in good condition. Some holes have a lot of divot on specific areas (e.g. #4- front of the fairway bunker on right). Rough was mostly green, with some areas a little dry and yellow. Mostly 3", but on thick areas it was 5". Sand was nice and soft. Saw the ground keepers raking the bunkers on some of the holes. And the greens were fast and rolled true. Ball placement on the green played key, because all downhill putts were deadly!

Pace of play was a little slow @ 5 hours+. Mega Monday+being a holiday for most people= 5 hour rounds was a thing I expected.

Will be playing this course a lot until the June golf tournament I am playing in. Great challenging course and playing the course right will give you a good score.

I played the course with the Ladies group in a shotgun of 160 players! It is called the Holiday on the Hill event that they have every year to raise money for their charities that support young girl/woman players.

Pace of Play: I did not really want to put that it took 5 1/2 hours to play, but well it did and with 160 players it is to be expected. I felt the play moved along fairly well all things considered.

Food: They had a fantastic luncheon with gourmet food and a variety of items. Also, they were very organized about it by putting the food spread out around the room and that way there was not a line. Kudos to the chef at IH. We gave him a big round of applause.

Customer Service: They are always nice there and organized. They pulled off the tournament without a hitch.

Weather: We had a very beautiful day! Cold at first in the morning, but then it warmed up.

Greens: Were in great shape. There was a little discoloration on some greens, but they were still smooth. No complaints here.

Fairways: Perfect. Just the right amount of grass for your 3 or 5 wood!

Bunkers: Nice. Yes I said nice. I was in a few of them. There are a lot of bunkers on the course. You are surely going to find at least one of them. The sand was white, not too fluffy or too grainy.

Rough: Thick and lush, but you could find your ball and get it out. Early in the morning there were a couple of places that had excessive water (wet mushy areas). Just a couple of areas.

Overall: I really wanted to give them a perfect score, but no course is that perfect. To me it was a perfect golf day. Our team won low net, we had fun, ate great food, and enjoyed a beautiful challenging course with perfect weather. That's a perfect golf day.

I want to go back and play again soon.

The Ike is open now and coming back into shape after overseed and punch. Need about two more weeks and greens should be rolling perfect. Not crowded at all today due to cloudy skies, but it only drizzled for a few minutes. Played in 4.5 hrs ... course always a real test of your game.

Course has an interesting layout and memorable holes. Not an easy design, as some very long par 3's and for the shorter holes, the greens are challenging. A 5 hour + round here on the Mega Mondays. The front 9 gets crowded, then moves along decently on the back. Tee boxes were decent, not the flattest, but did fine for my taste. Fairways were off and on, not always a good lie in the middle of the fairway. Some areas a bit brown, dry, and patchy, while others were soggy. Fairway was very patchy, as it looks like a bunch of 2 inch patches of grass spotting the dirt. Sand wasn't fluffy, but was able to get out of decently. Greens were good. Challenging breaks and soft enough to hold your approaches for the most part. Tee'd off at 10:40 and finished up at almost 4 pm. It was Mega Monday deal day, so that is probably why it's slow, other weekdays are faster, but weekends are just as long. A fun challenging course if you have the time to spend.

Played this morning 8-20-11. The Ike is not in good shape at the moment. Overwatering a few weeks ago has caused fungus? to appear in the fairways. It has been a long time since I've seen things this scruffy. The fairways have muddy spots, hardpan, fungus, aeration holes, and other assorted conditions. The rough isn't much better, and some tee boxes are in bad shape too. The greens, for the most part, are rolling fairly quick and smooth, although the bottom portion of green #11 is in bad shape. So while the maintenance on the fountain on #1 and #18 is finished, the rest of the Ike is hurting a bit. I'd give it a few weeks before the conditioning improves. Overall grade for the conditioning: C.
