Played on 7/21. It's been 4 years since the last time I've played. I remembered some of the holes, but since it was a shot gun tourney, my hole order was all over the place. Played with my boss, who is a former PGA teaching pro, and he was impressed at the course design. Course has great character and has a lot of risks and reward to the course. It is long, but you have to place the ball right to be in a position to make your second shot. The course was in great condition and is ready for the city tournament (which I didn't know until the Marshall told us). The greens were not as fast as I thought, but was very receptive and rolled true. And people, FIX YOUR DIVOTS! I don't know if it was the group ahead of us, but I fixed at least 3-4 divots on most of the greens. Got in the sand a couple of times, and all were nice a fluffy. Cart girl came around a lot. I wish the price could get a lot more lower, so I could come back a little more frequent! But it's a great course and would definitely come back.

The Ike is still in great shape this summer, ready for the city championship this weekend. The Super has been 'deep watering' the greens to keep them from burning in the summer heat which means they are soft and holding everything, but running just a bit slower than expected and can get bumpy around the cup after enough foot traffic. Tee boxes and bunkers are primo, may need sunglasses to avoid the glare from the white sand. Cart girl crusin' and water & ice in both cart coolers. Don't get no better than this.

Played on 6/28 in the afternoon. The Ike is one of my favorite courses of all time, although it is truly brutal if you are trying to post a low score. I was playing with a visitor from Australia who is a scratch golfer and wanted to play a challenging US course from the tips. He got what he bargained for and was quite pleased despite failing to come close to a par score; his 79 included 3 birdies and 3 double bogeys. This course has it all, and in a beautiful setting as long as the smog hasn't kicked in. I love the fact that every hole has a bit of risk/reward built in. Birdies are available with excellent shots but bogeys are lurking everywhere if you don't execute. I found the greens a bit slower than I expected, although they were true and fair -- little damage from ball marks. My playing partner thought they were a little bumpy. The fairways were in superb condition. There is a string of holes, nos. 4-7, that are crazy tough: a very long par-4 with a tough tee shot downhill that is visually tricky, a monster par-3 (250 yards uphill to the back hole location), and back-to-back par fours of 450-plus yards. Every hole gives you something to think about. The fairway bunkers seem to be in just the right spot to swallow up slightly errant tee shots, the greens are multi-tiered and require accurate distance calibration, the fairways are pinched at likely landing areas on the shorter holes. I used every club in the bag and always do when I play here. On the four par threes I hit four very different clubs -- driver on 4, pitching wedge on 9, hybrid on 13, and seven iron on 15. I could play this course every day and never get tired of it.

Just played the Ike for my first time utilizing their $55 Mega Monday deal. Teed off at 10:50am and finished at 4:20pm - round took 5.5 hrs - YIKES!!! That was about the only negative. I bet that is due to that Mega Monday deal. Anyhow, course is in great shape right now. My only complaint (other than the long round) is the greens. The greens are very very soft - even some 7 and 8 irons that I hit into the green were spinning back a foot or so...be careful with your wedges - I sucked one back about 25 feet - not ideal by any means. Because the greens are so soft, they are kinda slow. If the greenskeeper would just cut and roll the greens they would be absolutely perfect. The fairways were beautiful - like carpet on some holes. The tees boxes were pretty good for the most part. The course is very challenging. I highly recommend a long driver for this course otherwise some of the long par 4s will eat you up. For $55, this course is a steal right now - wish it were closer to my house...but the 50 minute drive is well worth it (especially for $55 on Mondays). The course reminds me a lot of Los Serrano South but with much better fairways and a little tighter off the tee (but there are still some holes on the Ike where you can spray it and recover). I will definitely be back this summer - hopefully they're reading my review right now and will go cut and roll the greens.

I played here Saturday, June 11. This is the longer of the two courses. The course is in excellent condition. For me one or two of the par 4's are not reachable in 2 from any tee other than the white and then that is a struggle. The fairways allow good roll, but in some cases they are sloped so that the ball can still end up in the rough. The greens on this day were not as fast as the Babe’s but then there was heavy mist (rain) for a while in the morning and that slowed them down. It was fun to play some of the same wholes the woman played in the Kia Classic and see how you compared to them as far as distance and accuracy. Don’t ever kid yourself; those women can hit the ball a long way

Despite it being a weekend, I was pleasantly surprised by the good time we made it in playing 18 holes. This whole resort is very nice. From the hotel to the golf courses it really is a fabulous place to stay and play. The conditions of both courses are above average to well above average. Even though numerous bunkers, trees, and water come very much into play here the course has eased up a little bit compared to 20 years ago. The pace of play on Mondays will be slow unfortunately due to the "Mega-Monday" deal. On the Ike yesterday I was very disturbed by the countless number of unrepaired ball marks I discovered on most of the greens. The guy from Pittsburgh, whom I was playing with, and I, must have repaired 3 to 8 marks on several greens. There is a certain psychology of a group of golfers who are most of the time the main culprits with this problem. I am convinced that I am right after 28 years of golf and the fact that there was a large group of them right in front of us. The maintenance staff at every course works hard so we can enjoy this great game. It is a slap in the face to them and rude to other golfers when fat mark is on your line. What is in the mind of a player who knowingly leaves this stain on the green????????????

Got in one last round before the LPGA takes the stage next week for the Kia Classic, and the course is in just amazing shape as expected, tee to green. I highly recommend getting out here as soon as you can to experience conditions the Pros play. Just flawless.

Played afternoon of Feb 12/Sat. The Ike is in fabulous shape as they continue to get the course ready for the upcoming Kia Classic. This facility is the best public facility in SoCal. A first rate experience without any pretentiousness. The staff is friendly and very professional. They work hard to please you without being overbearing. The pond on #2 is being drained and some other work is being done as well, but it won't detract from your experience should you go out the next few weeks.

The course is in great shape. The greens are getting really quick and not many marks on them, the rough is growing in and becoming quite deep. The fairways are in good shape with some divots in the major landing areas but most of them are sanded and the grass is carpet like conditions. They are getting the course ready for the LPGA next month and it's in really great shape right now and will only get better over the next month. Well worth the price of admission.
