The new IKE was just opened up at the beginning of 2007. If you have not been back - you must go!

They have made it so much easier and more playable. The fairways are awesome. They have cut back so much of the brush that used to eat balls up. Last round I played I did not lose any balls - normally I am good for 2-3 there.

This is one of the best values for a high end course in Southern California.

It had been a little over two years since I last played "Ike". Despite the dormant fairways the course looks nice. The traps are particularly in great shape!! I found the course in general now plays easier than before the "remodel" except for the greens. Hit 13 greens and couldn't break 80. (41 putts and I had the least number of putts in our threesome, all of which are single digit - go figure?) I like the course, but the greens are just a bit too punishing for somebody of my ability to put a good score. Plus the cost is getting a bit steep!

The only thing is the fairways are brown and even though it was it still is a very nice course that will be even more beautiful when the grass is green and the trees fill in. Great breakfast also. All in all a great day.

The fairways were shocking. It was like playing off hay. Not what I had expected when I paid for $100+ round. Don't go there until summer rolls around and the grass turns to green.

Played 1/26/07 Course is very nice. Greens are very fast with a lot of hidden breaks. the 400+ yard par 4s play a little shorter and the 300+ yard par 4s play very long. Great challenging Course!!!!!

Played on 01/25 and must say if they spent as much money as rumored, couldn't tell where it was spent. Yes a lot of brush has been removed, easing the course, not necessarily improving it. The greens are smooth and putt true, but are not any better than the majority of greens in Inland Empire (Empire Lakes, Goose Creek, SCPGA, Eagle Glen, Oak Valley, Yuciapa, etc). Lay out is nice, challenging, but not with the teeth of SCPGA or Oak Valley. For the money, $85.00 weekday, you can play Oak Valley, pay for gas, get lunch, and enjoy a nicer experience. I don't understand how this course can be the highest rated course on this site. Most golfers must not play in the Inland Empire, because the conditions here would rank good to excellent but would not compete in bang for the buck honors.

Finally made it to the 'new' Ike. Some nice changes, nothing drastic. The course does play much friendlier (must have a new rating) due to removal of deep grass in outlying areas. Errant balls are much easier to find and may still be playable. Greens are still very quick, rolling true. But the fairways are a Bramuda hybrid currently dormant so we had some suspect lies mostly because other players did not repair divots. It should be in great shape by springtime. Bunkers are pristine with bright white new sand. Positive note: 50 and over get a senior rate during the week ($62). And it's still the best test of your game in LA Co. but I suggest you stick to the white tees unless your game is straight and you can hit it a whole bunch, otherwise it can be a very long day.
