The Ike is back. Same 'ol same 'ol. Darn hardest course here in SoCal. I think the course is just as good as it was before. Maybe that's the point. Do the renovation and make it just like it was. Brush was cleared out, trees trimmed, and new fairway grass. Greens are marginally better, not much than before. The bunkers are nice, but everything else is the same as before. Maybe most of the renovation had to do with irrigation and drainage issues. But the biggest thing is the green fee now. Wow, I guess I'll be playing somewhere else now. As good as the renovation is, it flat out isn't worth the green fee unless you're a member. And the funnicular STILL isn't working....yup, same 'ol same 'ol Ike.

It is fantastic indeed. The course is beautiful and plays much friendlier. You don’t have to bring a half dozen (if not a dozen) of balls anymore. The conditions from tees to greens are near perfect. Cart path only policy slows down the pace. Though enough yardage markers are near cart path and on fairway, select extra clubs before you walk to your ball. Not sure about the divots situation on the fairway; I don’t think too many players would remember to bring the sand bottle when walking to the ball. There was no problem when I played on 11/18. For higher handicapper, playing from white tees is more enjoyable and would speed up the pace a bit.

The Ike has re-opened, and a good buddie (member) has told me that it is utterly fantastic. A few minor changes to some greens, but the same layout w/new turf and re-conditioned bunkers. Prices have increased, too. Hopefully, we can get more comments from those who've played it.

We got in one last shot at IKE before they close it for refurbishing. THEY ARE CLOSING THE COURSE FOR SIX MONTHS STARTING MONDAY, JAN. 9TH. So, won't rate cuz conditions weren't that great since they were already starting to let it die for the tear up. Greens were great. Fairways okay, but they were drying them out. It's a monster. Play from the correct tees!

I hadn't played Eisenhower for a couple of years and was looking forward to gettingback there. i heard the greens were very quick, and considering my short game is the strength of my game, I felt up to the challenge. Let me first state that I hit 11 greens in regulation, which for Industry is pretty decent. Nomally with that many greens in reg, I would be looking to shoot in the 75 area. Well, I didn't break 90!!! I 4 putt a green maybe once a year. I had THREE four putt greens and 4 three putt greens. That says it all! Despite being totally humiliated on the greens I loved it! I'm used to playing on reasonably quick greens (Coto de Caza) but these were rock hard and fast - a tough combination. Not as true as Robinson Ranch, but much faster. Can't wait to try the "Babe" and see how badly I get beat up there???

Quit your whining. IH has always been a very difficult track (even after it's been 'softened') and that should be expected when you tee it up. Yes, high hcp.er's (over 10) will grunt and groan but these two courses are a true test of golf at an elevated level. You'll not find many other public courses in the LA area matching it's challenge, so be prepared before you come, or book your group somewhere else. And believe me, I've been humbled their many o' time ... but I always come back for more.

I'm glad the annual fundraising tournament I go to here has been moved to the Ike from the Babe. The Ike does not play as ridiculously tight as the Babe, and I believe is a more fair test of golf. Even from the white tees, this course plays long. I played with a few high 20s handicappers, and they had a frustrating day. The layout is challenging without being entirely penal, with nice elevation changes and hazards in key spots. You will find yourself with every type of sidehill / uphill lie that will require all the shots in your bag. The fairways felt a little lush, not getting much roll off the tee. The greens were very receptive, but tricky to read, and on many holes getting on the right shelf was crucial or a three-putt was a very real possibility. Bunkers and rough were in good shape. Play did back up on the short downhill second hole, where we drove up to find two groups waiting to hit. I played in tournaments on the Ike on two consecutive weekends, and the staff was courteous and helpful on both occasions. I hope to come back every year. One note: I wish the funicular that carried you from #9 to #10 would work again...I think the last time I saw it in operation was 1990. The funicular was one of the things that made golfing at Industry Hills a unique experience.

The course has a high slope rating only because it does not reward good shot making. It's poor design and unplayable rough make this an unfair monster and one to avoid.
