What happened to IKE? this used to be so well maintained before. Mind you, it still is a great course to play but conditions have dropped so much that I would certainly not be willing to pay top $$ to play here.

Greens were a bit saturated when we started play and got more firm as it started to dry out. Rolled pretty well for the most part.
Fairways are hit or miss. Lots of areas with bare spots and lots of wet sludge.

Tee box for most part was decent, not great. There were 2 tee box that is so messed up (7 and 8) that it was not even funny anymore. they put new sod on the 7th but everything is uneven that all the edges were sticking up and it looked like patched up tee box. And 8th tee was like hitting from un-mowed rough.

Bunkers were lacking in sand.

Saw the cart girl several times during the round but did not see any water stations the entire course. they do leave 1 water bottle inside the cart cooler.

Carts do have GPS. Available driving range is a bit of a trek. several practice greens.

Finished in 4:40 with lots of waiting. Certainly not ideal but I can live with that.

Hope they improve the conditions.

Been a month since the last Ike review: not a whole lot has changed on the Hill. Played a shotgun Sunday AM, got around in 4.5 with just a bit of waiting ... not bad for a club tourney here. Lots of stuff going on today, busy on both courses and 19th hole afterward. Club held it's 'Board Surprise' which used varied tee boxes (red, white, blue, black or wherever) and a few 2 1/2" & 15" holes. Example: on #2, the tee box was high on the hill next to the practice chipping greens, playing 225 yds. They removed a section of the fence and put a mat down to hit from, where I promptly jacked a 5 metal over the green ... had me scratching my head. Definitely different. Anyway, conditions aren't bad but could be better as there are many browned out/thin areas that come into play, none are marked GUR ... pity. Good that I mostly had decent/playable lies. Many tee boxes have been punched and some are a bit scruffy. Bunkers (was in two) had the little pebbles that I hate to see but were otherwise easy to play from. Rough ranged from (mostly) green and full Kikuyu with some deeper grass the farther you venture away from target, to downright thin and patchy (areas that aren't getting much water ... areas that you shouldn't be in regardless). Greens were the highlight of the day: in good shape, mown and rolling true at medium/fast (10-11'ish I'd guess). Weekend rack rate pricey at a C-note (member), so look for GolfNow deals which I hear are available mid-week.

On the Ike on a Friday afternoon, got around in 4.5 hrs. Not much improvement since last post, still working on transition areas around greens and tee boxes. Greens rolling okay for an PM round, a bit slow and lightly sanded. Never had a bad lie in the fairway or rough today, but there are areas that you must avoid (thin, divot damage, or swampy). Let's hope for better days ahead, cuz right now the Ike is not worth the green fee, except the layout is still very challenging.

Sorry to report this: the course is beginning to show signs of the summer doldrums which includes dying Bermuda which happens I guess when you overseed. Tee boxes and fairways are affected and it might be awhile before conditions improve. Several greens also have spreading fungi and some are not looking good at all. YIKES! I hate being the bearer of bad news, but that's what I saw today. Hopefully, it won't last too long but don't expect spring conditions here on the Ike. I'll be here again next Friday ... I'll let ya'all know how it looks then.

Played Friday July 3rd - 9:20am. first time playing this course.

1. POP was pretty bad, about 5.5 hours. I think this was due to being the holiday weekend, being a challenging course and cart path only on about 1/3 of the holes.

2. Course Layout - I liked it, I found it required a variety of shots, put some thought into what you really needed to do and visually interesting.

3. Tee boxes, mostly lush and level - no issues
4. Fairways, mostly lush, some browned out spots here and there but very playable.
5. Greens - fast and challenging to read. definitely need to say below the hole.

6 Services - decent, definitely a lack of restrooms on the course, no water stations, but the carts have 2 coolers for beverages. GPS on Cart a plus.

had a good deal of $50 to play and it was definitely worth it. Wouldn't pay the rack rate though.

Played the Ike in a IHMC tourney Sunday AM, it's a C-note for the W/E now, and that's for members ... dang! Fortunately, the course is in great shape, tee to green. Greens were medium speed and most were very good to excellent with minimal ball marks. Only minor complaints today: there were a few over-saturated areas to avoid (but only took casual water once) and there are still some rocks in the bunkers. PoP, as expected, was a bit slow at 4:45 in a shotgun format going off at 8AM.

Recommended if you don't mind paying the fee. Deals are available occasionally on GolfNow. If you want to save some $, check out it's sister course, the Babe.

Out on the Ike on a very warm Wednesday afternoon for a Guest Day shotgun event, $85 included balls, script for winners/prizes, and nice buffet dinner afterward, a real deal. PoP around 4.5 hrs. Course still green fairways, mostly full with a few thin areas which I found, as is the rough which was just cut so not very penal. Greens were in good condition, still quick, just rolling a tad slower than normal for the Ike, but holding everything. Lot's of unrepaired marks on #2 (come on, people!) but mostly near pristine, really. Was in a greenside bunker on #8, a bit thin but well raked (no footprints this time) and decent enough coverage to play from. I did see a couple of flyers from my partners, so be careful in there. Recommended if you'd like to play a Open qualifier course, but the only deal on the Ike is on Mondays. Rack rate is a bit steep, look for twilight or senior rates to save a few bucks.

Got out here with 3 of my buds and took advantage of the $60 Mondays and must say, it's a very nice course to play yesterday. Greens were fast and challenging. Like glass if you were caught on the wrong side of the slope. Birdies were taken as a premium. Was very lucky to collect a few. Layout here is a course you wouldn't mind playing over and over again. Very narrow at times and punishing on your misses. Would definitely recommend if your thinking about it.

Played the IKE on 05/22/15. Course is in great shape right now. The fairways are lush and the greens are the best I have seen them in years. They are rolling true and smooth. I do wish they would get some quality balls for the driving range. So nice to see this course back in perfect playing conditions. Have fun.
