Played today Aug 8th. Ambiance as usual spectacular. Pace of play excellent and the weather was beautiful. I love this course and it's challenges. My score was not the best but the time spent here is worth every cent spent on green fees. I will continue to play here even though it is a bit of a drive. Friendly staff and groundskeepers and well maintained course.---Scotsman

Played Marshall today, T-time was 1220 arrived 10 minutes late and tee'd up right away at 1230. 3 1/2 hour round was so pleasant to have, particularly since I complain so bitterly about the slow play at San Dimas Canyon, down the street. Unfortunately that is the only favorable comparison I would give to Marshall over San Dimas, conditions are so much better at San Dimas.
Green's were bumpy, on downhill slow putts, I saw my ball slowly zig-zag to the hole. I don't remember this being a problem, when last played about 6 weeks ago. Greens border on unfair, but knowing they are difficult, helps before playing and are expected.
Fairways are bumpy and I was in two drainage ditches on my drives. Players get relief at nearest estimate of entry.
There were at least 2 dozen deer out here, almost always are.
Overall, a decent round of golf, very enjoyable, if you find the right deal.

Always enjoy playing Marshall Canyon, in part because of the unique challenge that the greens present. Without local knowledge, these greens can be very confusing and make you look pretty sillly with "misreasing the greens". Also nice to play a course which does not require length, which as I find myself a lot shorter than in years past, allows many more birdie opportunities.

The course was rather "scruffy" and as they are overseeding the tee boxes, it gave the feeling of being unkept, but I suspect this condition is temporary. The staff was great as always and always make you feel very welcome.

Every time I have played this course, I have been very pleased with the clubhouse service, food cart service, and the pace of play. I was reluctant to play this course because so many of my golf buddies would say you cannot read the greens, the greens are too small, and they are impossible to make a putt. So, for over 16 years, I have avoided this course. This is now in my weekday rotation and my weekend "quicky" rotation.

One day, after being so backed up at a nearby course, I booked a tee time, and the first time I played the course, I hit my first 90 for the year - Yes the greens are tough to read. For the first time playing, with all the stories of difficult to impossible greens, I didn't think 90 was that bad. But, the round was completed in under four hours! You don't get that kind of speed unless your are the first or second group out elsewhere.

I wanted to play the course again and played the front nine twice in about 3 hours with a round of 77. A foursome kind of slowed me down on the 8th and 9th hole and the first tee was wide open. My online research of the course paid off, but don't forgo the back nine just because, on the turn, the first hole is open.

The back nine plays harder at times and is very worthwhile. I brought out a foursome today and they are sold on Marshall Canyon as well. The service, the speed of play, and the challenging greens make it a no-brainer. You may become sold on this course too - just like me.

Wanted to like course as many interesting holes. Alas, too many bare, thin, and uneven lies prevent this. A well struck drive often rolls into the trees due to severe slopes and narrowness of fairways. With so many blind drives this results in unneccessary lost balls and penalties. Greens very bumpy and slow. Sand excellent. Service good but no cart girl. May try again in summer.

Had a 7am with some buddies on Friday morning. Was pleasantly surprised getting there and having no wind, was expecting 25 mph. Pro shop and Marshall were very courteous and helpful, Cart girl great. Played a fun money game with friends that made the experience great.
Now for the BAD. All lie's are uneven on this course and thin due to lack of sod on the fairways. If fairways are sloped left to right and you hit it down the left side you will roll all the way to the right rough, in most cases this is fine but on some holes there are OB stakes right where the rough starts.(REALLY). If you did not roll into a OB area you would however roll into a 30 foot tree that has fallen or a huge branch of a tree that is laying on the ground.(RIDICULOUS). Some OB's were marked by X's on trees which was consistent. It was the White posts that were mixed with in the yardage posts which were confusing. On some holes they were painted on some they were not. I was not in the sand however my playing partners said it was fairly poor conditions, meaning inconsistent, could see a tarp underneath where the sand was so thin. Greens were pretty good a little bumpy. Lots of 3 putts.

Good course to play if you want to be frustrated at affordable pricing.

Very strange?? Arrived at the course at 10:50 for my 11:30 tee time. Noboby there? Was told we could follow the twosome on the tee, so we got off 30 min early. Our foursome (walkers) never waited and played in 3 1/2 hours. Never saw anyone behind us either??

Course was in very decent condition. Not great, but very acceptable. Greens were very soft, able to stop the ball very nicely. A little warm, but a nice breeze made for a wonderful afternoon at a fun track.

Good prices out here at is just under 25 for a weekday round. Course is not hard to walk. Most holes are relatively straight on with a few holes having their own character. Greens look slow but are not. Course is in very average shape. Mostly green fairways, although pretty patchy on some. Tee boxes and bunkers were decent. Overall a decent course, but one I'd get bored of if i played it more than a couple times a year. Lots of deer out right now, saw at least a dozen or so. Small pet peeve is that the scorecard is big with so many ads for random businesses all over it.

Condition of course was mediocre at best. Pace of play wa bad. No cart girl at all. Tee boxes were all uneven to the point that it got annoying. Fairways were half dead and half lush. Rough was decent enough. Greens had lots of ball marks.

All that said, this is my home course for my Pomona house (not mountain meadows due to pace of play issues there). As my home course I will play here again, but cannot recommend anyone going out of their way to play Marshall.
