Got to the course around 7 and teed right off. Good pace, about 4 1/4 hours. Nice open fairways, but the sprinklers were on for a few holes. Lots of lawn mowers around waiting for you to hit them. ... Continue »

Played this morning at 6:15 am. Greens are in good shape. there are a few too many ball marks on the greens. Lets take the attitude that you are going to fix your ball mark and one other. We'll get to the point were we will have to look for ball marks to fix. That would be a good thing. The fairways were a little too over watered in spots and there is some cart damage through some of the real wet areas. Some of the teeing grounds need work too.

For a county course I must say the condition was awesome. Outside of the tee boxes being a slight bit chewed up from the high volume of play the course is in as good of shape as I have ever seen it. ... Continue »

For a county course I must say the condition was awesome. Outside of the tee boxes being a slight bit chewed up from the high volume of play the course is in as good of shape as I have ever seen it. This has to be one of the better dollar values in So. Cal. I called in the mid morning 7 days before and got a midweek 7AM tee time. Was able to play and be in the office by lunch time. Always a chellenging round of golf with very interesting greens.

I have been playing this course regularly on weekends for many years now. It is a fun and challenging course, accommodating different playing levels. Note that I have posted a number of "tips" on this site on how to improve your scoring on this course. Take a look, you might find them helpful.

Generally, the course is in great shape, the exception being when they punch the greens as with any course. However, during the summer, they really pour a lot of water on the course to keep it green, which is a good thing. However, there are several areas of the course where water accumulates. Over the years, this has created a number of pot holes in the fairways which really are not necessary. In fact, they detract from the overall condition of the course. I think that it would be helpful for the course to consider the installation of so-called "french drains." Now, despite Bill O'Rielly's ban on importation of French products, use of these drains would really improve the course. The course superintendent could water the course as much as necessary without affecting the quality of play.

It's worth noting that Ed Howard, the head pro is a really great guy and does a good job of getting people out onto the course. This is sometimes difficult with all of the tournaments that are played on this course, even on weekends. I like to play in tournaments, but I would like to see them save the weekends (at least the mornings) for the working stiffs.
