Hard to believe there once was a time when we were happy to play courses like this. The gnats/flys were oppressive, the fairways marginal, the greens over watered to the point of being spongy, the tee boxes thin, the customer service non existent, but heck - it is cheap. Spend the few extra bucks and play Los Serranos or Goose Creek. Either one is only 15 minutes away from this tired old course.

Played this course Friday 3 days after the latest torrent of rain finished and the course was in fabulous shape. Hat's off to the superintendant and his crew. There were maybe 4 bunkers on the entire course that had small sections of casual water, but they still groomed the rest of those bunkers! The Fairways were a little wet but the ball did not plug and even had some roll on the drives. The greens were in great shape and putted suprisingly true. This has to be the best value in OC.

This is one of my favorite tracks but it got hammered last week (10/19) with the rain. For the next week or so it will likely be cart path only and there are 2 holes playing as makeshift par 3's including the always tough No. 18.

The longer term problem is that they are killing spots on many greens to preserve an all bent grass surface.

Expect the greens to be marginal on some holes until December at the earliest. Still a great track, worth the drive and the green fees.

This is a course that eats golf balls for breakfast lunch and dinner! If you can control your distance and accuracy this course is fantastic. If not you will get a chance to empty out the bottom of your golf bag where you keep all your chewed up old balls. Lots of forced carries and waste areas that play as lateral hazards. The course is in great shape with greens that roll true. Nicklaus greens take some getting used to because the ball rolls straight when you think it's going to break near the hole. Keep an eye on the mountains when reading your putts. The ball always wants to break away from the mountains even if the green slopes towards the mountain. The staff is super friendly and the course can give up some low scores for the straight hitter.

For a county course I must say the condition was awesome. Outside of the tee boxes being a slight bit chewed up from the high volume of play the course is in as good of shape as I have ever seen it. This has to be one of the better dollar values in So. Cal. I called in the mid morning 7 days before and got a midweek 7AM tee time. Was able to play and be in the office by lunch time. Always a chellenging round of golf with very interesting greens.

A little unforgiving if you don't hit the ball straight, but overall a very nice outing
