Played Trump today, had a 11:00 tee time. Course was practically empty so the starter got us out early by 10:40. Lets dive right in, customer service was outstanding from the bag drop all the was through to the starter. We were warned at check in that major changes were occurring to the course. Lets make it short and simple, all of the water fall cosmetics are now gone, replaced by green fencing, heavy equipment and plenty of lumpy brown dirt. How they are still charging regular rack rates here is criminal. Lucky for me my buddy had a discount package for two golfers at 160.00 bucks. If I had paid the rack here now there is no telling what might have happened.
I understand the drought, but this was shocking. Lets start at the practice range. Upon arrival the first thing you notice are several signs stating not to hit any club that will give you 230 yards total, eliminate the driver and 3 wood and 5 wood. Secondly the condition of the range is horrendous, chewed up clumpy grass and woefully uneven. Lets throw in the fact it is dry and brown and you have 4 aces and a King Kicker.
The signature first hole is a mess. Playing at 180 yards with a temp green that is about 7 feet in total area, with beautiful heavy equipment and green fencing every where, not to mention the workers that are running free everywhere.
The views get better but the course conditions just seem to declined after that. Fairways are marginal at best, not only being dry but thin and even barren in several areas throughout the course. Rough is inconsistent at best. Some areas are lush and thick while other areas and I am talking the vast majority are thin and rather easily played and recovered from.
The bunkers... well they at least have the 17th and 18th holes to be proud of, nice white fluffy sand with good depth. I will say this, they are deep faced with several requiring a good solid effort to save par. Unfortunately that's where it ends. Several bunkers all of which I played from today lack any measurable amount of quality sand with many being only a few inches deep and rather hard. I noticed several scoring irons hit by my playing partners and myself that actually bounced when landing in the sand today, OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The greens were in good to great condition. Rolling at a 10 according to the starter. They held shots well, yet provided run out when the shot was played.
Tee boxes were a mix of fair to average, with many having above average divot damage, with more than normal areas of unevenness and in a few extreme cases rather dry.
I cant speak of previous rounds here as this was my first experience, but expectation from previous reviews, price, name and what ever else you choose to throw in the hat had the round failing rather miserably to Expectations.
I would like to get back here and play again when conditions are better, but with the price being charged and conditions as they are not for awhile.

Played here yesterday at 7:30 am. The starter "Manny" is always excellent. Everyone should know before you go the first hole is torn up and is playing as a par 3 to a temporary green and the 2nd hole is a 325 yard par 5 so it is playing as a par 4 while this work is being done. I can understand paying a higher rate due to the incredible views from this property but do not think it is worth the rack rate of $280. We paid $160pp on a holiday so it wasn't too bad but I still think it is overpriced at that rate. Overall I give everything a 7 out of 10 rating and think a better job could be done to merit the higher green fees. The clubhouse and restaurant/bar are fantastic....

Got a great "deal" time on TeeOff.com today at 12:30. Normal price was $215 but the deal price was $108 and I had a 25% off promo code, so it only cost me $83. This was my first time here and I had a wonderful time.

Complimentary valet parking was a nice way to start the day. I checked in and then the starter told me the other 3 guys who had the 12:30 time had gone out and were already on the third or fourth hole, so I'd be playing as a single. That was fine with me. I ran into a marshall on maybe the 5th hole and he said I would likely catch up to some slow groups that were a few holes ahead of me, and offered to let me jump around the course to avoid that backup. Being my first time here, though, I just told him I'd play at a leisurely pace and enjoy the views. I never ended up catching anyone and no one was ever in sight behind me, and I finished in 4:00.

The course is in very good shape. I had called to inquire about conditions this morning and the guy I spoke with said there are a few brown spots in the fairways, but I didn't really notice that at all. A few fairways have areas of new sod (squares of maybe 40 feet x 40 feet), which are marked as GUR. The greens were excellent, quite fast and smooth and held shots well. Tee boxes were pristine. The one bunker I was in was perfect. The rough was maybe the most questionable part of the course, but it was still very nice. It seemed to vary in the type of grass and the depth from hole to hole. On the par-5 7th, I hit my second shot in the right rough and never found it, despite looking for probably 10 minutes. I almost lost a ball on 14 where that same type of grass was growing greenside, but I finally found it when standing almost right on top of it.

Beautiful views abound at this course. The approach to the first hole is one of the most intimidating approach shots I've ever seen, especially true for a first hole. I also loved the blind tee shot at 13, where native vegetation conceals the fairway's existence from the tee. Maybe the only constructive criticism I can offer is that it's a bit weird that the blue tees and black tees are nearly 1,000 yards different, and there's no option in between. I played the blues and only hit one driver all day, and that was only because I was hoping to reach a par 5 in two. The course is a very stern test as is, but an option to play it around 6,700 yards might be nice.

P.S. Only saw the beverage cart once, on the third hole. Was surprised she didn't come around more often considering how few people seemed to be on the course.

The only thing disappointing about this course was my score. I love this course, but not in love with the price. But oh well, you get what you pay for, this isn't by far Los Verdes down the street!
Tee boxes were in great except for the par 3s, those were a little chewed up from play. Fairways were awesome, only few level spots but there but no bare spots. Rough, yikes! Front 9 with some left over morning dew made it wet and thick. Ball really sinks down. Sand was great, nice and fluffy. Greens were amazing, they rolled true with little or no bumps. I highly recommend this course!

It has been awhile since I've played here. Views are amazing, no question about that. I find the course so so in terms of enjoyment. Greens are in great condition. Receptive to great approach shots and hold them quite well. Unfortunately, i only had a few good shots. :)

Course is in decent condition. Bunkers were great. Sand was one of the best I've played out of. Fairways decent with minimal divots seen.

Staff was friendly and helpful. We were offered to tee off earlier as there was some openings. They have club drop off and valet parking.
Bev cart went around a few times. So did the marshall. Complimentary water in the coolers.

Green fees used to be close to $400 if i remember correctly. They have since dropped their fees to $280 for peak and $160 for afternoon golf. Food was expensive (as was expected).

Course was tough as there was a lot of uneven lies and narrow fairways made wayward teeshots gone. Most of the greens have multi tiered and offered a lot of challenge.
Overall a tough course and you really need a good game to enjoy playing here. However, if you are just here for the views... totally great place to hang out.

Got the chance to play trump national last week. I was trying to decide between trump and pelican hills. I am glad i played trump. Got a decent deal on their website. Showed up a little early and got to go off early with a two some. The weather was awesome, a little windy but not bad. This course is well worth the money. Conditions from tee to green were great. It looked like they had resoded almost all tee boxes. The fairways were great with roll and no dead or brown spots. Greens were fast and receptive, even in the late afternoon. I didn't notice to many ballmarks on the greens. You pay for the views and you get some of the best views available. Pace was good at just over four hours. Seems like the back nine plays slower then the front. I would say if you are looking to splurge a little and want to play a beautiful course with great views go to trump. You can't be the waterfalls you need to see them to believe them.

Played on 6-4 morning time. Got a great discounted rate online. First time playing the course. Been here for the LPGA event that was held here few years ago so I was familiar with the layout. Lots of fairways and greens are undulating which makes it hard to score. You never get a flat lie on the fairways or greens. Didn't really see the ocean break on the greens compared to some other courses I played. Rough is extremely thick in some areas. Greens are a tad slow, but the course would be much much harder if the greens were sped up. Played the blues tees and thought it was alittle short. Black tees were 1000 yards more, so wish they had a tee box between the black and blue. Great views of the pacific from every hole.

Given maybe 15 balls to warm up with, but was told you can pay for more if you want more than that. GPS in golf cart is left off because of the cheaper rate, so used my phone GPS. Tee boxes were good,Fairways just OK, green were as slow as any public course I've ever played. Started at 10:30, and the Poa Ana was already long and flowering, not even sure the green were mowed that day. Views are spectacular, but play the 9 hole course at Terranaea just up the road, for a lot less money, better conditions, and not treated like a "Special Rate" golfer, with the same ocean views.

The most unbelievable golf course I have ever played. Got out to Trump on Thursday at an 11:10 tee time under perfect weather conditions. When you pull up to the club house they have free valet that takes your clubs and puts them on carts ready for you by the putting green. The clubhouse is gorgeous with a large restaurant and pro shop. When you enter you feel like your in a million dollar mansion over looking the ocean. Once you pay you can go order food from the deli where they have someone grilling up one of the most amazing hot dogs ive ever had for you. Also by playing the course you have full access to there state of the art locker room after your round. Next you drive over to the large grass range over looking the Pacific ocean. Now to the course! Sadly the course had just aerated the greens a week before but still rolled fine and looked pretty good. Every thin else on the course was in absolutely perfect shape. The layout of the course is extremely difficult with very narrow fairways on most holes. Many challenging greens and interesting bunkering. The highlight of the course are the many waterfalls and amazing ocean views. All in all, 100% worth the extra money even though there are great deals online. Cant wait for next chance I have to come out to the Trump.
