Played on Sunday 12/27 with a tee time around 8 am. POP was around 4 1/4 hours to play 18. Play here is with covid-19 restrictions. No ball washers, no rakes in the bunker, and can't remove the pins when putting.

Haven't been here in awhile. They are doing major refurbishment of the clubhouse and grounds around the clubhouse. Clubhouse is closed. The bathrooms are porta potties. There's a food truck out near the Wilson 1st hole that sells food and beverages.

Course conditions were just awful. It hasn't rained for awhile. The tee boxes were rather thin with a lot of dirt patches. The fairways were thin with a lot of dirt patches, grass was yellow across the fairways on a lot of holes and there were lots of divots here and there. I had so much mud on my ball. Can't comment about the sand as I didn't land in any but it looked wet and thin. The greens were the worse I've ever seen. Greens were fast and very bumpy. Never seen the ball bounce a lot on the greens. Granted this course gets a lot of play. It just not worth the money to play here right now.

Teed off on time at 845am on 10/3. Like most courses right now pace was not an issue. We were walking and never waited on a shot. The course conditions are in excellent conditions. Fairways are very lush and are awesome to hit from. Greens are receptive but are very quick. I wasn’t in any bunkers but they looked like they had a lot of sand. Love playing this course. Recommend it if you can get a tee time.

Twilight round back at Wilson for the first time in a good while on Thursday around 3:15. Rate was somewhere around $40 for the late round and the cart - good value and we were hoping the POP would be good so we could finish before dark.

Was very surprised to see the fairways in such nice, green shape. There are a few holes where things thin out a bit, but overall there's very good coverage in the short stuff. The rough has some thin spots as well - far more than deep and lush. Not the best lies for near-green chipping, but nothing too awful.

Greens had recently come out of some punch and there were still signs of this, some holes worse than others, but none that really feel like they affected roll too much as I had a nice day of putting. Medium-fast speeds and some fun, challenging holes here. Tee boxes were in standard late summer muni shape, and the bunkers looked a little on the dry side but I avoided them all day.

POP worked out pretty well until we got backed up at the 11th hole tee box (by the new and improved snack shop). It was pretty smooth until then but the slowdown ruined our chances to finish outright but we did get through 17 holes before the darkness was just too much to overcome.

Really nice time out at Wilson and it's in some of the best shape I've seen here in a long time, and looks like it will be even better when the greens are fully healed.

Late tee time yesterday at Wilson. 1:55PM. Busy out there on both courses. Hot and breezy for most of the day. The check in process is so different from course to course, and this place is one of the sticktest (if thats a word). For all you tech weenies, there's that shot tracking GPS stuff at the range. Shot Tracer, or tracker or something official sounding. Although it was available no cheap asses were using it in their stalls. We played the blacks that makes for some challenges especially later day wind on some of the holes on the back. Tee boxes were pretty good although some were pretty crappy. The usual holes like 8, 10, 16 were suspect for sure. Rough, the rough here is hard. Its thick and thatchy, parts of it were just like when they hold the LA City, just ball smothering anaconda grab. Choke down, extra club and rip. Sand Traps, was only in one, they were raked but it was really more of the usual real dry sugar sand but not sweet or good. Fairways, it's tough at Wilson with the gopher problem on that course, even more so than Harding. The gophers jack that place up for sure, thats why theres so many coyotes around there. Some of it is just nature and the fairways and rough get thrashed and since they're not allowed to gas them the greens keepers use other techniques to flush those furry grass vandals out. That being said Wilson was very pretty. Greens, greens were decent but a touch slow. Like some that generally don't need extra love stroke were slower. The pin placement on the 11 par 3 was total BS. Its a tough enough hole and to have that location was aggravating because that hole is one that keeps you in making the Wilson corner of holes 7-11. That being said, if people weren't such lazy pieces of trash and could just possible fix their ball marks they wouldn't put the pin positions like the 74 US Open at Winged Foot. There were so many poc marks on the front of 1, 6,8,9,14. Just fix your ball marks, its not that hard. Its funny because these are the same sh-t ty players that cant hit the greens so 3,11,16 all look like the rest of the course should look. if you're laying up to a par 4, fix your ball mark its the least you can do in the spirit of golf. POP was good, it was busy but we clipped through in a little over 415. Halfway house was open and the restrooms are open. Play well and fix those ball marks. LAter!

850 Tee Time on a beautiful LA morning, what else could a person ask for?

Hit the first tee with the bros and play golf. Played well and hit some very sexual shots.
I also hit 3 shots so thin I could probably make communion wafers for the Catholic church.

The course looks really good. The Covid thing sucks but less foot traffic and more maintenance
getting done is cool. Ive been a member here for a few years and the course looks good,

The greens today rolled true and were fairly smooth. Couple of bummer holes when the guy was top watering the par 3 we were on but whatever, its not the Masters,

All in all , Wilson was solid and when those trees come in on a couple of holes the front will be back to whipping again.

First local round post shut down. Staff around the clubhouse/starters are pretty strict about the face coverings and social distancing. I've played several courses over the last couple weeks and Wilson/Harding is the only one that "requires" players to wear the masks on the course. Kind of ridiculous but at least their open. Surprisingly the range is open but practice putting greens are not. The groups also seem to be double spaced out so groups are starting off on time. We didn't come across any waiting until #10. Finished around 4 hours. Overall conditions are pretty good. Well mowed fairways and rough was fairly light. Greens where smooth with few divots but definitely slower than usual and rolled at a medium pace. The usual Covid precautions abound like no benches, ball washers, drinking fountains, or rakes. So definitely BYO if it's a warm day. The greens had full flagsticks with a shallow cup which is great. They are still remodeling the clubhouse restaurant and snack shop on #10 but there's a dude on a grill there and a food truck on #1 tee box. It was great to be able to play without driving 50+ miles out to Ventura County or Riverside. There's no place like home.

The LA county courses are making tons of $$ with driving range profits, playing profits. I have seen a cut back on all the course of the maintenance crews. The gophers have complete control or Wilson. So bad, hit a perfect drive in the middle of the fairways and you end up in a dirt patch from a gopher and or poor maintenance due to the lack of crew. * In tournament play so no GUR status. dismal. I have played Wilson for over 30 years now and this course is in a really sad state. Not an enjoyable day or golf.

Saturday foursome at Wilson today, taking out the new carts with their nice new GPS system and playing from the blue tees. This LA classic is in better-than-average shape right now but could be so much better with just a few tweaks.

Solid if not spectacular course of golf to be found here. The layout is mostly flat and most of the holes are pretty straightforward, but it still has a charming character with respect to the history of the grounds and the outstanding views and wildlife that enhance the experience.

Fairways in good shape but you will definitely find yourself with some thin lies to navigate. Rough can be a bit grabby in places, but nothing too terrifying. Some nice patches, too. Once again, tough to judge bunkers after the recent rains but right now they're poor for sure. Tee boxes are also a bit beat up and in need of work. The greens are a bit on the bumpy side and certainly not aesthetically pleasing, but they're okay. They're rolling a little faster than medium actually and do have some decent slopes to sort out.

Good day of golf and a good time to visit Wilson as long as you know what you should expect. Oh, almost forgot that the POP was not too bad for a Saturday. We started about 10 minutes late and finished around five hours and change. Also had some fun with two inquisitive coyotes at the turn after the snack shop. Do not try this at home.

Played here at 7:15 this morning. I think this is the first time ever playing here for me and I thought the course was a joy to walk and play. The greens were the highlight running pretty fast and smooth. They held shots well and had a lot of undulations. Tees were level but chewed up, sand was fine, and the fairways were mostly lush with a few bare areas. The pace for a Sunday was actually very good at just under 4 hours. I would definely play here again given the chance. The rate was $45 to walk which I thought was okay for a Sunday morning. FYI, rumor is the rates are increasing $5.00 after the first of the year.
