I was soo looking forward to playing this golf course again. It had been some time since, like 5 to 6 years. I was a beautiful Saturday, blue skies mostly and a lite breeze that swirled around the canyon. The cart girl was very hospitable too. The greens and the area around the greens are well taken care of and rolled true. Not enough golfers fixing their divots. But I did. I had plenty of time to do so. Our round took 6.5 hours. Yes, that's right, 6.5 hours to complete 18 holes of golf. Not a marshall or a starter insight on the golf course to push the players on the back nine. The greens are tough, tough to read to the line. This experience has scared my golfing life. I love golf, but only when played in a respectable 4 to 4.5 hr time frame. I would not be writing a bad review if it was 5 hrs. But a golf course that has gotten such high marks, this is unaccectpable. Marshall are needed. I will not be back.

Why is the playground sand in the sand bunker? Because they had leftover, is what I am told. They are terrible and have been for two years. The LA county courses are making tons of $$ with driving range profits, playing profits. I have seen a cut back on all the course of the maintenance crews. The gophers have complete control or Wilson. So bad, hit a perfect drive in the middle of the fairways and you end up in a dirt patch from a gopher and or poor maintenance due to the lack of crew. * In tournament play so no GUR status. dismal. I have played Wilson for over 30 years now and this course is in a really sad state. Not an enjoyable day or golf.

July 5th, 2019, a cool, windy and slight foggy am. Tee time at 7:10 am. The 3rd group out. The green fee a whopping $235 w/ cart for outta towner (you only live once). Locals are $79 to walk. I feel the green fees are steep compared to other city courses for outta towners. This is a course to play at least twice to score well. Played from the blue tees. I think I would rather play from the black, which would eliminate going thru fairways in the rough, making you play a long iron into the hole.

Warm up: some, but not much. Driving range are mats into a net some 15 yrd in front of you. Test the putting greens before going to the 1st tee. There you really need to get the sledgehammer out to get the ball to the hole. WOW are they slooowww! For the money paid, I wish the rate was reduced because of this.

Green green green is all you see. The fairways are tight, very tight. A must, to be in the fairway to reach a few long par 4's. Not saying a perfect shot out to the rough is doable. I had a few. If you catch the sand, dont sigh, just swing easy and hit a nice, picked shot from the bunker. The tough bunker shots are those that leave you within 60-80 yrds out. At this time of day, the sand is wet or moist and compacted.

The first fee whole if you find yourself in the fairway rough, and extra club is well advised. Once warm, you will need 1 to 2 extra clubs if the wind off the lake comes up like today (7-15 MPH). On the back nine, there is only 2 holes that the wind helps. Most is a side wind that moves the ball a few feet left to right. The carpet you putt on did not have much or many breaks, but the grain did make the ball wiggle at the end of the putt.

The pace of play at this time of the morning was great. Cart path only is understandable, but not welcomed news without my out push cart with me, and this green fee. I think I would of enjoyed this course if the greens were cut and the weather was warmer. The GPS cart monitor and all if it's warnings were a pain.

Greens very good and fast and soft for a city course. The cup edge DESTROYED on many holes by the rabbit SOB's that uses his/her putter to pick ball out of cup. I had 3 balls lip out of cup that should have dropped. Shot a 75 from blues, that could have been a 72. For it only being a month or so since aeration, I thought the green were great.

I was disappointed in the fairway conditions and with no notice at the counter. But found out that they are starting the process of changing out the fairway grass. Maybe less water use in the future (after watering a lot to get the new grass to grow). The rough was mostly dead and many bare spots (keep it in the middle).

Sand traps had nice white sand. A delight for a city course and not seen the last 8 years.

Played BG on Thursday, what a perfect weather condition day. no wind, slight breeze around 10am. Last time I played I was very disappointed. Come to find out, they made a gamble with seeding with different grass, no rain, seed not working. NOW the new grass is coming in. Much better, but not worth the 85+ green fees.. yet.

Practice range very nice.
Customer Service - EXCELLENT
Challenging course. Need to know course and where to put the ball on the green to really score low.

Many divots in fairways and tee boxes. I tried to fill as many as I can. But another reason why $$ charged is not there yet. I can get a great shot in a divot riddled county course anytime. i come to BG NOT to have that happen.

GREENS: WOW. Fast, but if into the grain, will see a big difference. ball landed and stuck within 3' to 6' away. NICE!
In 2 months this will be really nice.

I have play Black Gold approx. 5 or so times, from the beginning of it's creation. I remember the fantastic quality is ONCE was.. So I had several of my friend buy the cyber Monday 2 round special ($109 - seemed to be a great buy). BOY was I embarrassed at the end of my round there , this last Wed. 1/15/14. Had a 7 am tee time. The Santa Anna winds were up so the course was going to be changeling for sure. I always remembered the first hole and the lush green fairways and rough. NO way. bare spots, fairways thin and rough yellow. i really do not understand why? the reclaim plant is right above the course. Is reclaimed water so expensive now? The price point this course charges, you would think they had enough money to water the fairways.
The club house and the staff were very helpful and professional. Driving range was nice, though them made us hit off mats, and the balls needed to be changed out. Speed of play was great. Never waited and did not feel like we were slow.
I am writing this review because I was really let do on the quality of the course condition. I see deals often for 65-85, but if someone was to pay full price; WOW would they be upset. I play city course and I except the over use quality there, but the cost is $44. Black Golds fairway were really no better. (greens were better then a city course)

I played for 24.50 (Groupon) 18 holes and cart. GREAT! Pace was FANTASTIC! 4:05 time with 5 players. nice day too. Yes there are several ball marks near flag stick on 3 pars. Green were soft and the gold TRIED to repair, but many were NOT well done. Tee boxes need time to repair. You could always find nice grass, but it's winter time and the grass is not growing like summer time. Many divots on fairways, but sand is provided, and used so i had now fairway divot lies.

Played on Sunday 6/8. tee time was 8:20 am. Speed of play was very nice. Greens are getting greener, but still a hint of yellow. Greens were medium soft and moist.Had a repair several ball divots on each green. Greens are med. fast with true roll ( after repairing the divots ). Fairways and tee boxes are in 8/10 shape.
** New greens keeper, so I hear the water adjusting is still going on for 18 holes and not 27 holes of need water.
*8 New club house will be finished in 2 or so weeks.
