Hadn't played here in a while and got a decent deal so even though it was 100 degrees out. Check in was easy and courteous; no issues. Unfortunately their range machines are super finicky so i couldn't get a bucket because they went offline. Luckily there were enough random balls scattered around that I could still get a few warm up swings in. Joined a twosome and single on the first tee at our te time and watched the foursome in front of us have someone giving another person in their group lessons as if it was their first time playing golf. Realizing it was gonna be a 6 hour round we were able to start on the back. Fortunately pace of play was excellent with no one in front of us. At the turn (hole 1) we teed off behind a twosome but after a few holes we caught up to them on every tee. we could see that things were backing up ahead so nothing we could do. Another twosome caught up to us and mentioned that they were actually playing the front for the second time because the pace on the back was so brutal. Honestly the lack of a marshal on this course is a huge problem because there are a lot of folks taking way too long searching for their shots or not picking up when they should. Course was in good shape. Greens were in good condition, sand seemed mostly fluffy though a few were in bad shape. fairways were their usual thin/tight conditions; expect a good shot to roll out a good way. Overall, a good fun track even in heat. Just too expensive for what it is, but at this point it doesn't seem like management is at all interested in making improvements so if you can find a good deal I'd recommend

Played 7/5 as a two-some. Didn't have a tee time, just showed up and asked what they could do, kudos to the staff who got us out right away without anyone else joining. Pace of play was 3.5 hours, and would have been much quicker if not for the 4-some who we caught on hole 4 that wouldn't waive us up the entire round - despite us being on their backside on just about every shot. We tried to play multiple balls, putt extra putts, etc. but it seemed like every time we slowed down, so did they.

Tees - were almost all great. On two holes, the grounds crew put the boxes so far back that we couldn't even take a backswing without hitting bushes. Not sure how they decide where to put these, but it's clear they just look for green and put them there, without actually thinking about how anyone would swing.

Greens - little slow for this place. Rolling around a 9. Looked like they had been sanded not too long ago and maybe that was still affecting them.

Fairway - definitely thin. They too have cut back on their water by 30% and this is where you see the biggest impact. Balls were rolling out wildly to the point where I was closer than i have ever been on multiple shots (#18 i was in the water from the blacks...have never been 100 out on that hole before).

Rough - basically non existent.

Bunkers - hit and miss. Couple were concrete like and the majority that I was in were soft and fluffy. Only complaint is that people didn't rake very well...looked like they did a half a$$ job and walked away.

Long as this drought continues, this place will be tough to come back to. For what they charge, the course just isn't on the same level as Moorpark Country Club, Sandpiper, etc. which are all not that much further away.

Had the 2nd tee time out as a 3-some and we never saw the first group. Pace of play was awesome. the starter said they were busy, then made a comment that they had something like 100 golfers there for the day. I guess that could be busy, but seemed kind of light in my book when talking about the whole day.

Fairways...nice, smooth covering of grass. Looked thin but you could definitely take a divot and there was some sponginess (not sure if that's a real world) to them that made them nice to hit off of. Would rate them an 8/10.

Boxes...played from the tips...boxes were phenomenal. Well groomed, flat, always nice to get there and not have to hunt for a spot to hit from. Would rate these a 9/10.

Greens...far and away the best part of this course. Were in great shape. No residual affects/impacts of the punching from a few weeks ago. Rolled smooth and true. It rained on us a bit during the round and also had pockets of being so nice that it was hot, so they were a little inconsistent but completely understandable. Not going to give them an "out of 10" rating for this reason.

Rough...light. Easy to hit from. So long as you weren't in the desert, you were able to find your ball and play it every time. Would rate it a 7/10 due to the fact that several areas were downright muddy and not just wet. Could have been because they were watering and because of the rain, but could also just be poor drainage.

Bunkers....found quite a few here...they are nice. Fluffy, soft, easy to hit out of. 9/10

Overall...this place is a good little track that is coming back around. I know it was pretty thin during the summer, but it seems like they're doing a lot to get it back. Only knock is the price...not sure I'd pay $95 for a Monday AM round again, especially since they charge a $15 dollar change fee/cancellation fee (or so the email says) and since you have to pay up front, I believe it.

Out to Angeles National yesterday afternoon. Discounted tee time made the round possible. We played in 3.5 hours taking our time behind a 4 some. The course is dry.....greens were rolling smooth and fast on the practice green, but on the course, the back 9, the greens got really slow. I would say front 9, running at 10, back 9 running at 9. Although not the best I have seen the greens here, they are still better to putt on than most of courses we have played this summer. Sand traps were compact and well maintained. Fairways were dry with plenty of coverage and roll. Rough was non existent, but you have cactus and dry vegetation everywhere. Hazards everywhere on this course along with 15 mph wind makes for a tough test. Customer service was fine, snack shop was open...the cart attendant was pleasant. Will return for a discounted rate.

Played ANGC 2 weeks ago with an early morning tee time. The course was in good condition and appears to have greened up from winter conditions. Rated a 4.0 out of 5 overall. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and semi-lush, no damage
Fairways: Greening up and tight, no damage
Greens: Greening up, firm, and fast, no damage
Sand: Well maintained and soft
Rough and Waste Areas: Well maintained and defined
Driving Range: Off grass and in good condition
POP: 4 hours (Thursday)

The course is a desert layout that requires reasonable control off the tee and into greens. Greens roll fast but hold good shots. ANGC is an excellent layout that can be enjoyed by any decent golfer. I recommend this course, especially if a discounted rate is found.

On a side note, restaurant is not open, but the snack shack does offer limited food, snacks, and drinks.

The only negative from my round was the service received by the desk starter, he was not polite or customer service orientated. Surprising that a nice course like this does not have better service. But nonetheless, the course is a solid players layout and worth the experience.

Rode the Blues today on a GN hotdeal at $56. Which I took because it was about 100 dollars cheaper than usual. I got to the course right on time and was hurried to the 1st tee, there was no starter so I waited for my group. Except no one ever showed. Finally another person joined and off we went. We finished in exactly 4hrs after passing 2 groups that were taking their time. The tee boxes are in good shape, the fairways are in winter conditions and are very hard but playable. The sand was soft and the greens were fast, and tough to read. The greens are not forgiving here, very difficult to stop your ball. Angeles National is a very difficult golf course, it got me good today. I struggled to find the fairway and if that happens here you are in deep trouble. Overall, I would recommend playing here if you get the deals. $156 is a lot for what you get. There are some brand new nice carts with GPS but there is no cart lady. There is bathrooms on both sides of the course but the pace of play is typically slow. The range was packed with people. Looking for a challenge, Angeles National is it.

I would avoid going to Angeles National at all cost. We had originally tried to get 12 people together for a golf outing and Angeles sounded like a good central place. I tried to call and no one is answering the phones due to Covid (understandable). Then we booked on-line at GolfNow and pre-paid for all 12. We got to the golf course and noticed one person working and guiding people to the carts (he was very nice). The golf course greens were in good shape, the fairways were unfortunately dying but mowed. Bunkers were concrete or too much sand and no rakes (understandable with Covid). It was however a very hot day and no water on the golf course to quench our thirst. The club snack shop was also closed and we actually had someone from our group leave to go down the street to a store to purchase water and gatorades. I can't believe they don't have the snack shop open, drinking fountains, or waters available.
We unfortunately had a couple guys not be able to make it and I've been reaching out since the day we golfed (both phone and email) and not a single response. I've given them 5 opportunities to reach out to me with vouchers or a refund as they are unresponsive. For $133 to play this golf course on a weekday it is way too expensive for the level of service and quality that was received.

I and my friends will not be playing this golf course again and I really wished the management company would have replied back to my emails and voicemails to avoid all this.

Very unfortunate as this was my first time playing and was extremely disappointed.

Played the blues Fri 8/14 at 12:30, POP 4.5 hrs, only slow on last three holes. Always a group trying to reach 17 from the tee. Otherwise would have been 4 hrs, not bad for a tough track on a very hot day and a pretty full tee sheet. Turf in excellent shape, greens very good but never are very fast, always lots of ball marks to repair. This is a high end daily fee course that always gets some groups having an outing with a couple golfers who probably should not be playing there and they always are playing the wrong tees. Tends to slow things down a bit, and there are three places the course backs up when busy (3, 6, and 17). Wide fairways but almost no room for error off the tee, if you miss it is likely a lost ball. Range is open, but not the putting greens or short game area. Efficient check in, Snack bar open and has balls and gloves, everything else closed. Challenging course with fun routing—flat and walkable but not allowed, which is a shame. Expense does not seem to limit play, usually pretty busy esp weekends, 5 hour rounds the norm. Sometimes during the week you can catch an opening and get around in 3.5 or so, esp if willing to jump a hole or two to get past the three and four-somes here and there. Twosomes very common here. Tight-looking lies but turf has give, they dont overseed. Rough is narrow but lush and green complexes have good thick grass around them. They filled the bunkers a few months ago and they are very playable. Wind can be a factor on some holes, but rarely really blowing hard. Sans COVID, they have frequent cart service and a great 19th hole grill and bar. Clubfitter on site (Pat Dempsey), and good instruction available. “Membership” deals but you can also just hang your handicap there as I do for a slight cost above the SCGA fee. Range deals as well. A very well run operation with nice people and a challenging course in excellent condition year round. I never am disappointed there, except sometimes with my play.

played here last week mid morning. check in outside, single carts available. snack shop was open, no other amenities. teed off just a few minutes late, first few holes were okay but then we hit a wall around 5 or 6. waited on pretty much every shot after that. not sure really what the back up was. course was in decent condition, fairway lies were good not lush better hit that ball first. not much rough to speak of, if you were offline you were usually in wood chips or native area. tee boxes were mostly level from the blues, some were chewed up, and some were put in stupid positions (like behind a tree or large bush). bunkers were inconsistent, some with good sand and some thin. greens were firm and rolled well, medium speed. it was hot out there with no water stations and no cart going around as with most places. i like the layout here, but some tough holes like 6 and 9, long par 4s with forced carries on your second. too bad the POP was 4.5. nice day out in the area.
