Not worth the money for the weekend but if you can get out on a weekday afternoon, I highly recommend it. The course is immaculate and the greens are true. The rough will make you pay and you do not really have the choice except to take a drop if you land in the rough. A beautiful beach side course and the course is challenging because of the number of bunkers placed in key spots and some completely surrounding the green. Not recommended for high (30+) handicappers because of the amount of balls you can lose. Overall, great experience but only worth the money if you get a discount or play on a weekday.

Though it would be unfair to comment on course conditions, I can make a few other observations. Valet parking at a golf course is not my thing, but they did a great job as did all the Trump employees with whom I came in contact. The clubhouse is huge and fancy (I didn't eat at the restaurant, but it looked nice). The driving range is really cool, with the ocean as a backdrop. As for the course, I thought it was an above average layout. Demanding tee shots with trouble on both sides, sloping, well-bunkered fairways and big, rolling greens. It reminded me of Champions Club at the Retreat, except for the fact that Trump National has spectacular ocean views, waterfalls, and higher green fees. One more thing. I know Donald Trump has a significant ego, but who is going to buy a hat that says "Trump" on it. I will buy a hat from Pebble Beach, Spyglass, or Torrey Pines if I am ever lucky enough to play there. I didn't buy a hat at Trump National and I've never seen anyone wearing one.

Played Trump on 10/23/09. It was just as great as the last time I played the course. Impacable conditions as always. A great ocean track.

Told myself I wouldn't pay over $200 for a round of golf but... The course is in excellent condition andfor some reason it always takes 5 hrs to complete a round here. The layout is nothing to write home about however the ocean view and condition are some of the best. I'd play Pelican Hill next time for the price.

We played yesterday at twilight for $165. The other reviews said the service was great, but we didn't think so. We went to the first tee on our own at our start time, and didn't see the starter. One local rule is that deep rough, although it's not marked, is treated like an environmental hazard, with a drop where it went in and a one stroke penalty. But nobody told us and it doesn't say anything on the card.

The next issue is the advice on the GPS. It was bad advice. One said to aim for the 3 rocks. Well, one of us hit it to the 3 rocks, and it was in a hazard. Another said to aim for a bunker. Alas, he landed IN the bunker. My guess is that the advice is for people playing from the tips, which is silly. The tips are very tough, and if you're playing there, you probably don't need the advice. The players who need the advice are probably new to the course and are probably playing from the whites or blues, and from there the advice stinks.

Third issue: it requires a lot of rounds to learn the course. Lots of times it went where I aimed, only to find it was in a hazard. But the price is so high to play there that you'd have to spend a lot of money to learn the course, and if you had the money to play the course that often, you could probably afford to be a member at a private club. I'm not sure who they're marketing to, but it doesn't make sense to me.

I also agree with the previous post about the waterfalls. They seem out of place. And a lot of the greens seem to be difficult for no clear reason, with some unfair pin positions. On the plus side, it is a very scenic course with lots of great views, and the pace was fine--we waited maybe once, and never saw the group behind. The wind adds a nice element of challenge that you don't get much around here, and the condition of the course was very good. If I lived close and the price was a lot lower I'd probably play it enough to learn the course. But I don't live close and the price is too high, so I doubt I'll be playing the course again anytime soon.

OK...here's what you need to know. The best views of any golf course in the area. You see the ocean from every hole. That being said, you could have lunch there, take a walk around and save a lot of money. The course is pretty well manicured but there are way to many tricked up holes to be considered to notch golf. Several of the holes have greens more suited to mini-golf. There are severe slopes on almost every fairway and green. It not about hitting it straight as mentioned in another review. You can stripe it down the middle on many holes and still end up in the right rough. Service is outstanding. Cart girl came around at least 4 times. pace of play was great but for $230 you should get a great course too. I could also live without the two Vegas style waterfall which feel totally out of place on an ocean course in Palos Verdes.

barely anyone on the course so i was able to bang out the 18 in just about 2.5 hours.
the last 3 holes were getting dark but thank the Lord i have good eyesight.

the course is a great course. the layout is fantastic. the conditions are plush. and the pace
of play was obviously smooth and fast.

gps on the carts is a great thing.

greens are poa anna but even in the evening, they were running smooth and kind of quick at about a 9.5. well done to the superintendent and the crew for maintaining a great layout for mr. trump.

all employees were kind and helpful as well.

definitely need a thick wallet if you play during prime hours but if you have the dough, it's worth the play.

Played with my son and we were both impressed with the service, conditions, and of course the views. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were immaculate. I will agree with some of the other reviews stressing the need to hit the ball straight. Isn't that what golfers are suppose to do? It was a great golf experience in every way and I recommend everyone to treat themselves to a day at this course!!

Wow, what a course. Beautiful with the ocean in the background and with a few waterfalls around the course. Conditions are great, with the exception of the tee boxes at the par 3's, but to be expected with iron tee shots. Bring plenty of balls. I usually lose about a sleeve per round, but almost 2 dozen here today. Currently prices are lower because they are transitioning to GPS carts. Currently you need a yardage book or hunt for sprinkler heads to get yardage. 1st hole is beautiful, yet hard to just on your approach. Too short and in water below the elevated green, and even short and on the elevated green is water, as well as a waterfall behind the green. Either have pinpoint distance or lay up. Rest of the course appears straight forward if you have a yardage book or GPS to find where traps and water are. Not a place I will play again due to cost, but a place you should treat yourself to once. Marshalls appear about every 3-4 holes, and cart girl about the same. Nice little BBQ area at the turn to get an expensive burger or hot dog. Fun place. But be warned, bring your A game or expect to lose some balls.
