Tried getting out on Montebello today, no luck (tournament). So opted for W N but 18 hole course was full and looking like 5 hours. So played the Mt 9 and glad I did. Got right out ($11 w LA Co Sr card - walking) and POP was 1.5, so thanks to the great customer service. Nice 9 with 3 par 3's (all different); opening par 5 and 5 par 4's (of various lengths). Course is in great shape. Tee boxes, clean and level; fairways clean with great lies and roll; no rough to speak of; bunkers in good shape; greens are very small (provides a good challenge) but flat, so anywhere on the green will provide a good putt. Very nice 9 hole course (better than many in the LA area IMO) and one to play when short on time.

Was able to get out for a quick 18 today and chose here. Course was a little crowded but POP was under 4 hours (that's good). Course is in decent shape but could be better (IMO). Friendly staff at all levels. Tee boxes could stand some leveling; bunkers are playable; fairways are not as well filled in as one would like (IMO again). Greens appeared clean/mowed but putted slow. Won't put this one on a regular rotation but won't disregard it all together, either.

As i was driving back from the client meeting, saw a golf course sign right before the freeway entrance; without any hesitation, i just went straight to the course, and walked in, booked, carted, and ready on first tee by 345pm. Was able to pair up with a couple to local players, then...golf on ...
Course condition was very nice, well kept for a public course in LA county. Tee boxes were green and level, fairways were decent with semi even rough, bunkers were being worked on; greens were awesome, soft, and slow to medium. Course has a very different layout, it has 3 9-holes courses, therefore i played 2 courses for the total of 18, which were the Pine and River Courses; perhaps I will play the Mountain Course on my next visit. Overall it was a fun round at a very nice and decent course for a very affordable green fee of $25 riding on a Sunday afternoon.
Will Definitely be on the come back list

I have not played this course in a long time, so wanted to revisit. Played River/Pine, which is the "original" course I remember. Played the tips, which as I approach age 70, is all I can handle and more. (#8 is now too much hole for me to reach unless I hit my very best) Many of the other holes were no longer high irons on the approach, but now middle irons and even fairway woods. (As Tom Watson said...... "there are just not enough tools in the tools box any more")

I thought the course was possibly in the best overall condition I can remember it being in. Not that it was great, but much better than my memory serves. Given I had a 10:57 tee time, pace of play for this course was decent. A little over 4 hours, which isn't too bad. While I was never a big fan of this course, I used to play here a couple times a year, but there are just so many better places to tee it up and it's not like it's close to home anymore. Might well be my final time here???

In an effort to play all the LA county courses this spring, we played here today. Customer service was excellent. Course is in nice shape. I had forgotten how long this course is and with the recent rains(which IMO helped) it played even longer. But we had a good POP in under 4 hours and was pleasantly surprised by the courtesy shown to us by several 4/5 groups in letting us play through (thank you all very much). Course conditions were very acceptable. This is not a course that is going to blow you away, but it is a fun course to play. Tee boxes clean and level. Sand had some crust from the rain, but playable. Fairways had good coverage and good lies, though there were some that still had some dry areas. Rough was long and thick as most likely with the rain, no cutting. Greens were very nice? Ones on the front were great (must of have punched them first). Ones on the back still had remnants of punching but putted fine. All in all in very enjoyable round of golf.

Played today.

There are supposed to be fairways here. IMHO there are NONE. What they mistake as being a fairway is a mix of dirt, patches of cut weeds and some grass. I reminded me a lot of ... dare I say... Victoria. Greens are healing from aeration. They are running a little faster and firm. You have to run your ball up in order to get next to the hole. Bunkers are stocked... wasn't in one so cannot really say about it's consistency. Greens in decent shape.

Gotta say I was... disappointed about the fairways. I was expecting to hit off grass along the fairways and I was served with a nice splotchy lie and dirt and this happened more than a few times. I don't really complain about fairways but this was ridiculous.

Greens seem to be the only redeeming point about this course. Personally if that is the only thing going for it... I may just pass until I hear some positive reviews from other GKers. Would I play here again? Do you really want me to answer that truthfully?

It has been a while. What a major improvement with the greens. The ball rolls true. After the morning moisture evaporated they became rather fast. The tee markers were all in front of the ladies tees by roughly 10 yards. That ain't happening. I ended up making my own tees at the very back without disturbing the seeded areas. The rough out here is spotty with very choppy ground. Playing from the rough or even the fairway into several small greens is not easy. Short side yourself and it will be hard to get up and down.
