This is a great layout. Accuracy is a must on most holes. Driver isn't required or recommended on many. The course is all about setting up the next shot, especially to the greens. The greens are tough with some severe slopes and tricky pin placements. They can be tough to hold since they are firm also. VERY quick. Water doesn't come into play much, but it's there to give that little bit of unsettling feeling. The bunkers could be better...some were nice, others a little thin (I was in too many this first round). Overall length is short, but it makes up for it on the greens (and getting there). I played Sat. @ 4 and finished 18 holes just before darkness. Great deal for $34 super twilight! I'll be back for sure.

Course is short, fairways are wide open, but greens are typical Nicklaus design, w/ multilevels and lots of undulation. Aliso is a fun place to practice your short game b/c, on most holes, you can put yourself w/in 50 yds of the green if you use a driver off the tee. Course does get a lot of play so be prepared for a slow round, but the conditions are as good as any in Orange County. It's very scenic, too.

All in all, it's a fun place to play, w/ nice views and some good elevation, but the wide open fairways and short holes do not adequately test your long game. I'm not long by any means (250-70 w/ driver), but next time, I'll try teeing off w/ irons to get the feel of a full lenth course and use something other than SW for approach shots.

Usually pace of place is decent, at least better than OC muni courses. Not terribly long, not overly challenging. I like the layout though, and design is good. Some nice holes. There are 3 nines here. Played Ridge/Creek. Too bad they still have the temp club house still after all these years.

Played using a Email special, pace of play great. Made the turn and the starter switched nines for us because of a slow pace of play on our original back nine,played in 4 hours

Another beautiful day at Aliso Viejo. The staff was very friendly and the course was in great shape. Greens were firm and ran true at about a 13 --- very fast. The sand was a little thin in some bunkers. Finished play in 4:40. $39.00 for seniors before 0830 and that includes a cart.
