Got in an early round before the Rose Bowl game and played good ole Dad Miller. Place is looking a little rough around the edges. Tee boxes, rough and fairways had good coverage and have benefited from the recent rains. Traps looked like they are in good shape. Greens were very bumpy and slow, not much divot damage or unfixed divots. POP was less than four hours and course is always good for working on your game. You can book as a single on their website.
Played with a couple of young guys, both 94 years young who truly love the game and could still hit the ball and were a pleasure to share the day with.

Wish I had seen dconnally's review before I booked this one. I agree with him, poor Dad Miller is going on the "do not play" list for me. The greens and bunkers were fine, the greens were actually pretty fast and smooth this morning, but the fairways are horrible. Total hardpan with lots of bare spots. The tee boxes were ugly too, with the markers placed in some bizarre positions just to get some grass under the ball. The rough ranges from completely bare to "I can't find my ball!". I think only a total aeration/overseed or complete re-sod can save the fairways at this point, they are so far gone. Maybe they can talk Tiger into paying for it since his learning center is just off the property.

The greens are good and the traps are nice the tee boxes and fairways are not great at all. Its a fun easy flat course that wont beat you up. Its an older property and in no way should be considered resort quality but the staff is friendly and it makes for a nice fun day. It does seem a bit expensive for what it is but in reality its a decent deal

Here’s another addition to my “Do Not Play Ever!” list, joining Shorecliffs, Knollwood, Westridge, and a few others. This has to be the most boring course in Orange County – dead flat, up-and-back fairways, glacially slow play, and conditioning even more indifferent than those LA County courses (who knew that was possible!?). Played at 930am on Saturday, 12/3/16, with my monthly group – I would never play here otherwise, and I need to think long and hard about renewing with this bunch, as we play the underbelly of the LA/OC/SB courses because most of the membership wants to hold the cost down. Last month – Rancho San Joaquin. Life’s too short! Throw in some in-course OB, tees shoved to one side of the box behind trees (thanks! American Golf), doglegs with the dog shorter than the leg, 5+-hour round, and so many other memorable (in a BAD way) features – yes, this course makes the NO-list. Greens were the ‘best’ part of the course – soft and receptive, rolling at medium speed but definitely bumpy. Many greens had adjacent wet areas that were unmowed and torn up by equipment crossing – these were roped off from carts, etc., but not marked as GUR. Rough around the greens was generally bare or clumpy or ragged – it was very inconsistent, so missing the green was a crapshoot for what you would get in terms of lie and playability. Fairways were consistently thin/bare, about ½ hardpan – we played preferred lies in the fairway, but moving the ball really didn’t allow you to improve the lie very much. Rough was patchy or clumpy or bare. Tees were often slopy, bare/thin, set to one side, patched, and/or soft. Plenty of divot damage on par-3s and no divot mix containers provided on those tees. I wasn’t in the sand, but my playing partners appeared to have adequate material to work with. There’s only one fairway bunker on the course, on #15 – at the far end of the lay-up area for the second shot on this S-shaped par-5 – but it’s so far left and long it’s almost not in play. Range was on poor quality mats. The divot mix refill racks after #9 and #14 were both empty (not full of empty containers, just empty!) – so all those hundreds of divots and slashes in the ‘fairways’ and rough go unfilled. Hole 12 was just a no play!! The tees were set to the extreme right of the box, behind a large tree – the best play here was a 7-iron, leaving 210 into the green!!! Just a bad hole! And we had Footgolf mixed in with regular golfers in the afternoon – UGH!! Early on a Saturday afternoon!! So there can’t be too much demand for this course! No, thank you!

We played on Friday 6/24/16. After playing here in February for a practice round for my daughter's junior tournament, I kind of swore off this place, and, although she won the tournament, we both decided the course conditions were awful and never wanted to go back. The fairways were probably the worst we've seen all year anywhere although the greens were okay. Well, I guess you can never say never. We agreed to take a friend of my daughter's to play there because she also has a tournament coming up and had never played there before. A couple of the holes on the back 9, 12 and 15, are kind of tricky in that you just can't hit your next shot without considering exactly how far to hit (see their nice app). We are pleased to report that conditions have improved. The fairways are much greener. Earlier in February, it felt like every other shot in the fairway barely had any grass under it and the rough was basically dirt. Although the fairways are in better shape, they are terribly inconsistent. #8's fairways looked like they haven't improved at all. Others looked like they were just aerated and we got some unlucky lies in unrepaired divots. In certain respects, it is almost easier to hit off flat bare spots. The rough was decent, although some spots they're going overboard on the watering it seems. And then there are holes with way too many gopher holes and mounds (#10). I don't care too much about tee boxes other than they should be fairly flat, and some of them weren't. At the edges, you're almost falling backwards. The greens were a lot bumpier than we remembered although the speed was only slightly slower than we're used to. The bunkers were inconsistent. I was in two of them. One was hard (#14 green side; bunker is damaged or looks like crap on the back end.); the other was okay for a public course – not the nice white sand but sandy dirt (#8 green side ). POP was 4.5 hours starting around 2:15 so not bad. I rode and the two girls walked and we kept up with a somewhat mediocre foursome riding in carts ahead of us. It was not crowded. Otherwise, it's going to be an hour or more longer like it was in February during the weekend. My last thoughts are that this course has a lot of beginners or inexperienced golfers who just don't fix divots and ball marks. They really should educate them. They also let a lot of branches stick out way too far into the fairways to make the tee shots tougher. They really need to cut those. They don't need to make this course tougher. It is what it is. It's not a tough track overall. Let the 20 handicappers play on a course with decent conditions and have a good time. One last thing: this course is not great for left to right golfers like me. They really let the trees grow (and the aforementioned branches that stick out) on the left side on the many dogleg lefts. Anyway, unless my daughter comes up with another friend who can use some advice during a practice round for a tournament, or conditions are overwhelmingly good at least, we are not coming back to this course. I paid $49 and it wasn't worth it. I'm a 5 index, and I would prefer to pay say $20-$30 extra to play at a decent course. If the cost was $35, it might not be too bad in terms of value I suppose. Positives: Again, although they have a way to go, the improvement in the fairways was promising; the folks in the pro shop were friendly; they have a helpful app.

Out early playing Dad Miller this morning, the course is having some maintenance issues. Par three tee boxes are pretty beat up and people need to use the divot mix on the tees. Fairways on 2,3,6 and 15 have some serious standing water from the sprinklers and on 18 the fairway grass is completely dead. Was not in a sand trap but some of my playing partners were and did not hear any complaints. Greens are doing well coming out of aeration, a little bumpy but should be good in about a week. POP was under four hours and the staff are all very pleasant.

Decided to head out here this afternoon even though I figured it would be a slow round. Found a 11:07 deal time on TeeOff for $33, but then used a $10 promo code to make it slightly more palatable. It didn't appear that busy when I arrived and they sent me right out to the first tee to join a twosome. We teed off at 10:40. Two hours later, we were finishing up on the 6th hole! There were a couple of very slow novice groups ahead that had no idea what they were doing, but thankfully the marshal showed up and prodded them along. After that, it did move better. The total round still took just under 5 hours. The course was in mediocre shape, so probably about average here. Tee boxes were pretty chewed up. Fairways and rough were a bit of everything, ranging from bare hard pan to sections that were too shaggy. It seems they've had some irrigation issues here, too, so there were a few fairways with big puddles (2, 3 and 18 come to mind specifically). Bunkers were fine. Greens still recovering from aeration, so very soft, somewhat slow and bumpy. They do seem to be healing well and should be pretty good within a couple weeks. I had only played here once before and will not be any rush to come back after today. I don't think I've ever seen so much chaos on a course. Players were all over the place and nobody seemed to have any regard for anyone else. Seems like every time I looked out at a fairway, there would be 5 carts driving across with people getting out and hitting in different directions to whatever holes they were actually playing.

Tee boxes were flat with good coverage, fairways and rough have filled back in and are very green. Traps were in good shape, greens were bumpy and hard. Quite a few shots would hit and run all the way through to the back. POP was four hours. Good course to work on your game.

It was Super Bowl Sunday, so it wasn't too busy. I can't remember how long it took but it wasn't too bad although we waited half the time. I think most folks went home at 9 holes since we teed off at around 10:30. I believe we were done in about 4.5 hours. We played here a few months ago, and the fairways and rough were awful – lots of bare spots. I figured after all the rain in January, the fairways would be a little better. Nope. Still awful. Seemed like there were bare spots in the fairways 1/3 of the time. Unless my daughter has a tournament here, it is unlikely we will come back. On the bright side, the greens were pretty good. Not too fast or slow. They also have a free app. The yardage information is kind of helpful on a couple of the tricky holes: 12 and 15. These holes have a water hazard (flood channel) on the tee shot. You're probably better off laying up on 12 (everyone) and 15 (if you can't carry 200 yards from the blue tees). Otherwise the course is pretty straightforward. Most of the holes don't have bunkers protecting the front. If you hit straight tee shots, you won't have too many problems. This would be a nice course with better fairway and rough conditions. Too bad.
