When I played Anaheim Hills a couple weeks ago, they gave me a casino chip that granted me half price greens fees at either Tustin Ranch or Dad Miller through the end of August. Seeing I could play for only $20.50 on a Saturday morning (walking), I chose Dad Miller and arrived around 7:00 this morning as a single. They got me slotted right in and I was teeing off by probably 7:20. POP was just under 4.5 hrs.

Conditions are pretty good. The first few greens seemed like they had a lot of ball marks, but then I didn't notice any problems for most of the remainder of the round. The fairways are mostly good. Rough is clumpy in spots and has been allowed to grow long around most of the greens. Along the fairways it's only maybe 2 inches, but around the greens it was more like 4-5 inches. Tee boxes were spotty with lots of divots but I never had a problem finding a spot to tee it up. I wasn't in a bunker.

I hadn't played here for probably 20-25 years, and the layout is a little more interesting than I remembered.

Walked on as a single and the course was wide open. After teeing off on the first hole I knew why. They are punching eight of the fairways on the front nine and 16, 17 and 18 fairways. I mean they really made some big plugs and your ball has no run in the fairway. The greens are all being fertilized with pellets which made for some really slow putting. Some of the tee boxes were uneven and had some bad divot damage. The back nine had a lot of dead spots in the fairways. Would wait awhile before playing here again.

Played Memorial day morning in 4 hours and 5 minutes. I arrived at 6 am and was told I was on the tee, I teed off at 6:10.
I hadn't played here in a very long time because I hadn't been treated very nice by pro shop staff my last two visits, this time it was great.
The course is a confident booster type of course, not long and only a few holes that you can get in trouble on. This was one of the courses I played when I graduated from executive courses. The course was always in decent shape.
The course itself has taken a turn. It is sad to see how bad things are here. A little TLC and this course can get back on track.
Everything from tee to green are not what they should be.
Tee boxes had such long grass, it was like hitting out of the rough. Somebody needs to fire up a lawn mower.
Fairways were the same way, with patches of long grass throughout. Drives down the middle would not roll out because of the patches of long grass. MOWER PLEASE! Also almost every fairway had mud at one point or another, or were soaked beyond what they should be.
There are no fairway bunkers on the course, but the green side bunkers were very hard or they had standing water in them. I was in two bunkers and never bothered to take a rake with me because you can't rake something that hard.
The greens looked very good but were slow and I do mean slow, chips and putts would not run out, even downhill. Made putting very difficult. The 16th green looks like it has a fungus or disease, there are yellowish circles all over the entire green.
The rough was either hard pan or 3+ inches deep.
Looks like with a little work they can get this course back into decent shape.

Played at 2:30(twilight) on 4/2. Afternoon on Poa is always an adventure and today was no different. Lots of ball marks and overall pretty bumpy. Since my last review here (where i mentioned the par 3 tee boxes needed some work) I am happy to report that the tee boxes for 7, 9, and 13 have all been redone and look excellent!! Well done Dad Miller! #11 is the only problem child left now! Fairways and tee boxes are good (#15 remains very hard in the fairway so be forewarned) and the rough is more or less long fairway. Wasn't in any bunkers but the looked like typical clumpy muni sand. Pretty good value for their twilight rate($19.50) especially when the POP is 3.5 hours! I also love that they gave some of their tee boxes a face-lift. That's how to get people to come back.

Nice maintained golf course. The one trap i hit it in, trap was a bit hard. Fairways and rough are kept up nicely. Greens needs some attention, but puttable.

Got a nice $30 deal for 2/9/13 from GolfNow.com that included a cart so it was a day well worth the money. I had never played this course before and some of the reviews were actually much more harsh than the reality.

Sure, there were some dry patches on the fairways, but the greens were in good shape, the POP was fantastic (no 5somes allowed) for a Saturday, and the layout is challenging enough if you're a newbie like myself.

Front 9 are pretty straightforward and good for building up the confidence for the back 9 which is much more interesting. A few holes require some serious thinking about what the best setup is for the next shot. The par 5 16th was a bear for me, especially after shanking into the lake when only about 40yds from the pin. Pure frustration.

I definitely will come back to this course with a buddy if I can get the same deal - maybe even without, although it's walkable so a cart isn't mandatory (no hills or big elevation shifts).

Played early on 10/17. Greens have healed nicely and are lush being a little on the soft side. Fairways are lush and green with a couple of areas that have been over watered. Growing the rough up around the greens that adds to the challenge of trying to get up and down. Fun day.

Got off 3rd group from list- 3 other walkers, Todd, Kevin ( Todd & Buzz Route 66?) & Sammy whose wheels came off on back.

Did not check GK Friday- greens were punched Monday. Slow, bumpy. Fairways wet as expected in am due to watering. Fairways in good shape. Rough is there- juicy. No sand in bunker I was in.

Pace- 3:50 with group behind us back 2 holes. Marshall appeared several times with water- thanks.

Overall conditions good except for greens. 80 except for 9 on #10-ouch. Pretty easy course to walk but you do need to drive it in fairway. Nice change of pace- back side more varied.

$39 to walk little high for what you get, but you are paying for local OC location.

Will be back within next year.

Pro shop does good job to empty waiting list. Thanks!

Played on 9/1 at 10:30, course appeared wide open but backed up pretty badly around #10. Round lasted about 4.5 hours, most of which was waiting on the back 9. The tee boxes and fairways were nice and evenly cut, maybe a bit shaggy on the tee boxes but overall they were in very good condition. The rough was very lush, and didn't look as heavy as it was. Very easy to lose a ball only feet from the fairway, every ball in the rough sat down quite deep and really added a level of difficulty to the course. I wasn't in any bunkers, but from watching my playing partners I'll say that they looked fine and I didn't hear any complaints. The greens were the low point on this day; some appeared recently aerated, most had bare spots, all of them had moderate to severe ball mark damage, and they were just nowhere near uniform in color, speed, firmness (or lack of) or anything else. There were even some sanded divots on a couple of greens.

The layout here is typical muni style; most fairways run parallel to each other, and there is a decent mix of long and short holes. There are a couple of holes on the back 9 that require some strategy, but everything else is very straightforward. This isn't a bad course by any means, I usually enjoy playing here, but the condition of the greens at present is just terrible and really detracts from anything the course has to offer.
