Facility is very nice clean restrooms, well stocked pro shop with very friendly and efficient staff, and a small restaurant. (we didn’t partake, but can get a draft beer for a buck with your starter receipt). We checked in at 7am, picked up our cart and range ball certificates.
The driving range is across the street adjacent to the 11th tee box. Driving range is in good condition, hitting off of mats with a good number of targets to aim at. Our only problem was with my playing partners certificate. The ball machine would not accept the #4. We split my bucket and warmed up. The chipping and pitching area located by the driving range well the putting green is located near the club house. My only complaint is with the chipping area as the simulated green is not mown like the greens meaning you don’t get representative rollout during practice. The practice putting greens are perfect.
The carts are nice, and feature GPS. The GPS is unique in that it controls the cart. We turned incorrectly up a sidewalk and the GPS put the cart in .5 mph limp mode and posted a warning. Crossing fairway past the green (there was not cart waring sign) from a shot to the opposite fairway, the cart actually stopped until we backed up and then changed course.
Rest areas. The course has well placed bathrooms however they are protected by keypad locks. We happen to be playing with a marshal on his day off, and he had the code, but that could have been a problem otherwise. You would think during playing hours they would be unlocked. The GPS accuracy was excellent. The only drinking water on the course were water fountains located near the restrooms. We did not see a hospitality cart during the round, however a marshal with a large jug of ice water made several stops to offer us cold water during the round on a day when the afternoon temperature reached over 95 degrees.
Tee boxes were mostly level with a couple of exceptions, with good footing and lush coverage. We played form the blues giving the course a distance of 5,892 yards.
Fairways were mostly lush and green with a few lush brown spots. Truly bare spots were rare. There were numerous wet, soppy and even muddy areas along the sides of the fairways. There was a significant amount of maintenance being done to the course, mowing, watering, etc. The water only affected me twice and I took relief. The primary defense of this course are trees and dog legs. The course plays longer than the stated length would imply. The moister of the fairways, and irrigation of the greens meant there was little rollout from tee shots.

Rough for the most part it was dry, however this among the hardest rough I have played in Southern California. Between 3” and 4” deep, it is sticky, holding onto the ball. Very penal, prevalent, with few thin areas.

Greens were near perfect except for the occasional unrepaired divot mark. Fast putting surface combined with slope and tilt and you have an exciting match.

Bunkers. I wasn’t in a bunker, the deep rough was bad enough, I am glad I missed testing the bunkers. They looked well filled with quality sand.

For me $40 is a higher than average green fee. Dad Miller was worth cost. Great playing conditions, a challenging course that has the lore of having served as Tigers home course well in High School, who’s TGR center is next door too.
Dad Miller was voted Course of the Year by the golf course association. Well done.

Early tee time at Dads today. Check in and first tee very organized. Tee boxes were pushed up with a sign in the pro shop stating to play the markers due to course maintenance. Fairways had good coverage, the problem is that walking off the tee box and before you reached the fairway the ground was filled with gopher holes. Also in the rough there were gopher holes need to be careful not to twist an ankle.
Greens were in very good shape with little divot damage. Greens rolled nicely and were firm. Traps were ok and well groomed. Lots of workers on the course from tree trimmers to greens keepers. Really need to inspect the bridges on the back nine, they have seen better days. POP was a tad under four hours. Early birds play at a good pace.

Played 4/30/18. Haven't played here in a long time. Greens have recently been punched and are still healing but roll better than they look (they actually rolled really good). Fairways were ok for the most part with some bare spots here and there. The problem areas were just off the fairway. I don't know if they have a gopher problem or not but it is rough! The grass was in clumps in some areas and little dirt mounds everywhere. Tee boxes were uneven and pretty beat up. The greens were the highlight of the day. Lower your expectations before coming here and you won't be disappointed...

This was my first time playing the course. Our tee time was for 7:28 Saturday morning but we were able to tee off about 10 minutes early. I didn’t have high expectations for the course but it definately won me over. For the fee I think it is definately worth playing. A few holes are goofy but they are manageable. There is a good mix of holes with length, doglegs and even green size. You will have a good mix of challenges.

Traps were well kept with good sand. The greens were in the best condition I have ever seen here. Greens were smooth and fast, everyone in our group were surprised on the speed. POP was a tick over four hours.

Played Fri Oct at 7am, got out on time. The last time I was here the starter was grouchy to everyone, this time he was very pleasant and that was a good start. Pop was 4:05 walking, waited almost every shot. Was very disappointed with the tee boxes. All the tee boxes were at the very front of the tee box, so "everyone " was basically playing the red tees. They were either punching the tee boxes or getting them ready for some tournament. Fairways were good, rough was long and penal, was not in any traps so can't say, greens were recovering from being punched, long, inconsistent speed, and bumpy at times. Service at breakfast and lunch was slow.

POP was 4.15 which was ok, we could have played allot faster but the fourse was crowded It has been 2 years since I was here and I was pleasantly surprised with the course. Tee boxes, level, fairways were green, some of the rough was very thick and it was difficult to find the ball at times. Was in 2 green side bunkers and they had acceptable sand. Greens were in decent condition although I did not putt well. One note, the starter was crumpy to everyone. Lol

I'm told the course will not be on our rotation again, but played it in a tourney on Sunday, August 6. On the plus side, the pace of play was decent, about 4:30.

The holes on the clubhouse side of the street are decently lush. The fairways were lush. The sand was good in both bunkers I was in. There was gnarly rough in places and we spent a lot of time looking for balls not that far off the fairway. The course is less lush on the driving range side of the street. The golf carts are amazingly durable considering all the gopher mounds in the rough in places. About as rough a ride as I can remember.

The greens were pretty good. A bit too bumpy, and a bit too soft (probably connected). Decent speed but not as nice or as fast as the practice green.

No drink cart. Nice bar and the food looked better than average. They were advertising on the 9th tee a Hot Dog of the Month Special - Bacon wrapped hot dog with barbecue sauce, cheese and green onions. Really?

Its golf but I am in no hurry to get back.

Time to change the name of this place to 'Abusive, Miller Lite-drinking, putting out cigarettes on the kid's arm Dad Miller.' I felt compelled to finally come back to this course as it is on my 'must break 100' list of courses that I visited early in my golf career. I first played this track in early 2013 after only 4-5 months playing golf, so needless to say I was bad. Now, while luckily being able to take it off the list and never having to come back again, I realize that it's difficult because the conditions are so poor.

Okay, I needed to get that initial rant off my chest. And to be perfectly truthful, the front nine and the last three holes on the back nine (both on the east side of Gilbert St) are actually not too bad. There's proper grass, decent tee boxes, and even a nice view here or there. It's the back nine that is simply disastrous, not only in terms of quirky holes, but some of the worst conditioned tee boxes I've ever seen, dried out fairways and the bizarre relics and trash filling up the concrete drainage canals bisecting much of the course. The water fountains don't work, the lake smells, and the clientele, well, let's just say etiquette is a four-letter word around here.

I will also say that the folks in the pro shop and the little restaurant are very nice, and the food and service was quite good. It's not their fault that the experience is lacking. And it certainly doesn't help to get to the first tee and the starter tells you the two groups in front of you are playing for the first time ever. Look, that was me four years ago - I get it. But I certainly wasn't taking seven practice swings to hit it 15 yards, and wasn't wandering into opposite fairways to hit my errant shots when others were waiting to tee off. Madness.

But again, saving grace is that a few of the holes on the front nine were actually in good shape from tee to green, but that just makes the inconsistencies so glaring and abrupt. It's hard to imagine that it's the same crew that takes care of all 18 holes here. How can there be that much fluctuation of quality on the same course? Baffling.

Anyway. Go if you want. I won't try and stop you. And I do feel bad for the hootin' and hollering here, but to pay almost $50 to walk (+ pull cart) here is nothing short of highway robbery. But again, it's off the list so I can just enjoy future reviews and hope that it gets better.
