Today was my first time to play San Juan Hills GC. Not hard to find, and plenty of parking to be had. The clubhouse area is being worked on, but everything was open and available. The staff was nice from the time I arrived until we headed for the parking lot to go home!

The course is in pretty decent shape overall. A couple of the tee boxes were not on level ground, but I have seen worse. The fairways have a few bare and/or thin spots but again, I have seen worse on other courses. The greens were for the most part, nice. 18 was terrible with a HUGE number of ball marks and divots on the green. It looked as though no one had fix a ball mark in some time. In all fairness, the rest of the greens looked pretty good. Some tough reads for sure with undulation and tiers on a few of the greens. The bunkers were a bit thin for sand, except for #17. overall, for the price, I think it was money well spent and I'll be back!

The fairways are just OK, with bare spots and paches here and there. They seem to let the greens grow, so they get lumpy and slow, and three putts are common. The marshall's and starters are pleasant, but I get the feeling that the guys in the golf shop think they're doing me a favor by letting me play there. A little stuffy for a course that gets people to play here not based on conditions, but price. They could use a few classes at charm school.

I played this course on Saturday August 8th. It is in much better shape then I remember it last. They have filled the bunkers with new sand and the greens were as good as I have seen them in months. For as much play as this course gets I was impressed with the progress and the conditions. Looks like the management is listening to players to make it a better course then what it once was. The clubhouse in under a remodel. I would have to say this is still the Jewel of San Juan and the course is improving!

All fine except bunkers. These are the worst bunkers around. Either hard pan with a mud base or a foot of dense beach sand. Horrible, horrible bunkers.

I played this course on Tue July 21, 2009. I arrived as a single at 5:50am as was paired with a 3-some. We played in about 3 1/2 hours. I found the course conditions to be inconsistant at best. The rough was not good at all. I had some bad lies in the fairway. The greens changed from green to green and were very slow. The 2 sand traps that I entered were awful. Overall I found the course to be extremely boring and not worth playing again. It did have a few interesting holes but these were too few and far between. I really enjoyed my playing partners though. They were the best.

The quality of the greens is very good. The rest of the course is inconsistent with some fairways and rough being nice and others not so nice. As always I really enjoy this layout. It is rare to find a course with so many short but challenging par 4's. $25 to walk after 2:30 Mon. Tue. Wed. I'm there...well lets go...well I'm there..well lets go...

Just played the course and it is in excellent condition. Greens were awesome. A great value for the price. I'll be back when I visit.

Played around 1:30 tee time for $39 off c4tt.com. Course was pretty much as I expected. Greens are generally in pretty good shape and roll well. Unfortunately, a couple of the par 3's, especially 18, are littered with ball marks. But, that can be heavily blamed on the course, as the players should know better. Tee boxes were excellent. Fairways, were, well, only ok. I don't remember having a bad lie in the fairway, but they are not very aesthetically pleasing at all. As for the course layout, most holes have elevated greens, and a couple are very heavily guarded by bunkers. I found the course to be overall pretty enjoyable, but wouldn't pay more than the $39 or so I paid.
