The girls and I played this course a couple of weeks ago. The wind was the only determining factor that kept us from hitting birdies all day. The course ws very nicely manicured. You have a chance to practice strategies for every hole.

First and foremost, pace of play was horrendous! 5 1/2 hours! This is the only major complaint against this course, which is a great value. Layout is always fun. Greens are perfect so I really am sad ... Continue »

First and foremost, pace of play was horrendous! 5 1/2 hours! This is the only major complaint against this course, which is a great value. Layout is always fun. Greens are perfect so I really am sad they are punching them. Fairways have some ground under repair, but are ok overall. Tee boxes were good except on the 18th from the tips, where it is a giant hump. Sand traps were of poor quality though... very chunky. Definitely recommend playing but be prepared for a long round. I just wish Marshalls would speed up groups. I don't understand what the fear is as there is plenty of demand to worry about offending a few slow players.

First time playing this course 4/25 @ 2:16. The condition of the course was good...not great, but could be and the greenskeepers are fixing problem area on greens and fairways. Greens - fast and true; Fairways - some scarring but overall lush. The POP was S-L-O-W (5 hours+) due to slow play in front and some fairways were roped off. Customer service was excellent. Critcism aside, the course is one of the best in southern OC and I would recommend it without hesitation.

Played on 4/15 @ 2:00pm. Course was in outstanding shape, good fairway's and great greens. Slow pace of play, but it was expected due to tee time. Overall this is the best course I've played for the money. They could charge double for what you get! Great scenery with the canyons, and an even greater course. Only downside was the bunkers. Some are good but most need to be re-sanded. It was like hitting out of a mud bog.

The conditions were very good. My only complaint is the sand. But overall it was a great day. Even the Marshal was helpful. I'll be back.

played for first time and thought was very interesting and enjoyable layout....definitely needs to be played more than once (or with someone who has course knowledge) to help w/ club selection etc. i would expect that 'local' knowledge would lead to as many as 5-10 shots off 1st time scorecard....course has lots of blind shots (elevated greens, dog legs etc), the greens are for the most part undulating and you will be punished for poor approach decisions and/or shot making...would definitely like to play again w/ 'acquired' knowledge from 1st go round.

I've seen SJH in better shape, but the course was still very nice, especially for the price. The greens seemed a bit too soft and slow for my taste, some of the bunkers had very little sand, and some of the tee boxes were not very level.

But the fairways were excellent and the rough was above average.

The pace of play is usually fairly slow here and yesterday was no exception.

All things considered, it is still one of the best values in Orange County.
