I don't know where spaul100 played, but I played Westridge today, Dec 1st, and while the fairways were overseeded, and there were many thin areas in the fairways (and wet areas), I defy anyone to find a punchhole on the greens (which were about 8 on the stimp). The course overall was in decent, playable shape. It should fill in in about 2 weeks - as a guesstimate. It's a fun layout, and the price is right. Plays a little slow.

This is crazy, I don't know how someone can review this course and fail to mention that the greens are punched! What a joke. This course is in terrible condition all around. We went off very early on 11/24 and they were punching the greens as we played. The course was in such bad condition, I left after 11 holes. Of course, nobody in the pro shop mentioned that they would be punching when we checked in. Staff was nice, but useless as they failed to mention that greens were going to be punched today and fairways were uncut and in poor condition.

In fairness, I will say that the punch was small and will likely be healed in a couple weeks at most.

In addition to the greens being punched, the fairways were uncut and very thin in many spots. It's sad when you would prefer to play off an uncut fairway than an area of the fairway that is covered in maneur. Obviously, Westridge is still undergoing serious fall maintenance.

Workers on course wouldn't even consider pausing what they are doing so as to not be a distraction. Overall, this is a weak layout in poor condition.

Was a little wet/soft in some spots on the fairways and no rain so must be general watering. You need to hit the ball fairly straight. Significant Hooks/Slices will be punished. Speed of greens was not quite as fast as expected and they rolled very well. Playable course for many handicap levels. Pace of play was good but I was there during the week. On weekends I'm sure it gets very very long.

Course was in alright shape. The greens were very slow and the tees had just been sanded. Played in 4 hours but teed off in the 3rd group of the day. Good fairways...unique design.

Played 10/14 6:37 AM tee time (daylight just starting to break when we teed off). The course is in decent shape, there is some maintenance ongoing on the fairways. They were overseeding and fertilizing. Some of the fairways had rows of cuts where there was dry areas. Ball rolled OK, sprinklers were on at times but were off by the 3 hole.

The greens were fast, not too bumpy, but some had many ball marks that were not being fixee by the three groups ahead of us (2 twosomes, and a 4some), pace started out slow due to low light conditions, but it picked up. We finished in just under 4 hours. Staff was friendly, and courteous.

The greens are plush and rolling nicely. They did a small hole punch on them a few weeks ago but you would never know that.

The fairways looks like they were just punched. Had to move the ball on almost half the holes because it was sitting in some punch mud, etc. Many tee shots plugged and stopped. Many bare spots in the fairway on about 6 of the holes. I am not sure punching will bring some of them back 100%. You still should find no issue finding a grassy spot near your ball.

As for it being narrow, it is a bit, but, I would not call it Trump National narrow. The only holes where you really need to be careful is 2 and 5. 5 especially because you can get a hello from people slicing off the second tee.

I enjoyed this course a lot more today than before. Its been a few years since I played it and I plan to come back a lot sooner than that. Somewhat sickly fairways and all.

Very nice staff. My playing partner was hitting out of the sand and jokingly said to a maintenance worker waiting for him to hit "Hey, got a tee?" The worker took him literally. We had no idea, but he went back to the pro shop and got him some tees! How nice is that?

OK -- so my group and I played here yesterday morning. The course is extremely tight. You must hit the ball straight and keep it in play to score. The fairways were not so tight you couldn't land the ball, but excessive fades and slices are severely punished. Tee boxes were uneven and made finding a flat area difficult. Greens were maintained very nicely and rolled true. The good: the customer service and marshall and pro shop folk were great. They were very helpful and recorded our group and had us on the tee on time. The pace of play for us was outstanding. Outside of one hole, we never waited for anyone to hit. Round finished in just under 5 hours on Sunday morning. The course offered unique and interesting challenges for shot making and scoring. As long as one stays dry and close to the fairway, there is ample scoring available. The grounds of the course -- the actual course, is quite beautiful. Undulations and hills, natural woods and environmental areas -- all made for a lovely afternoon. The course looks more challenging than it is. Play safe and all will be well. Greens were outstanding and challenging. Length was medium-long, but never took a 3-wood out of the bag.

The bad: the course is built on the side of a community in La Habra. It gives the impression that after the homes were finished, someone said -- "Hey, I bet if we packed these holes in here we could make a golf course." It's very tight and very narrow and on many holes, the view is overlooking the road overlooking a Ralph's. The course is also built on the side of a hill that's made out of clay!

All too often in the middle of the fairway, a perfectly placed tee shot was sitting on hardpan that was on top of sandy clay. You MUST be careful NOT to take a divot on the majority of holes on this course or it feels like one is hitting out of sand. THIS was our major disappointment. As lovely as the folks down there treated us, and as beautiful and challenging as the course presented itself to be -- whoever thought they could build a nice track on clay and sand got it wrong. This should be a great course. But as it stands -- the playing conditions are average to poor. Why design a great course on crappy land -- hmmm. Even one of the grounds keepers told us the ground was so sh$t ty they had to soak the course to keep it playable, making many shots wet AND sandy. I was disappointed because this course should have been better. Won't be back for the $70 we payed for the weekend. At $40 -- maybe. Final rating 2 1/2 stars.

Great course. Very nice & fast greens. The course looks intimidating, but if you play conservatively and keep it in play you should do well.
