Rode the Blues (6328/69.6/117) in slightly less than 3H, playing through a couple of larger groups. Played as a single twilight in sunny, breezy conditions in the high 70's. The tees were lush with most divots already properly maintained. The fairways were mostly lush with few unfixed divots. The primary rough is mowed down and not very penal. However, if you miss the grass rough the native areas are unlikely you can play your ball even if you find it. The sand traps had good quality sand but were not well maintained. Too many footprints and unraked areas. The greens were smooth/firm and putted medium fast. No huge slopes or tiers on these greens, but there is rarely a straight putt anywhere. This is about as good as I have ever seen Cimarron. Carts have GPS to the front/middle & back of the green along with hole tips. No Starter, Marshall or Drink cart most days. Restaurant onsite was open for breakfast/lunch. Fun course in good shape. Recommended.

The tees were lush, most divots had been properly maintained.

The fairways were lush with few unfixed divots.

The primary rough was mowed down and is mostly good to play out of, not overly penal. If you missed the grass rough, next stop is the native areas where it is unlikely you can play your ball even if you find it.

The sand traps had good quality sand but were not well maintained. Decent sand but too many unraked areas.

The greens putted medium fast and were smooth/firm. No huge slopes or tiers on these greens, easier than average to navigate overall.

No frills course, no Starter, Marshall or Drink cart today. GPS to the front/middle & back of the green along with hole tips. Plentiful ice water stations available every few holes along with cups and a stocked ice chest. Fun course in good shape. Recommended.

Played the Blues (6328/69.6/117) in 2H, 45M as a single in WINDY conditions in the mid 70's. John Fought design that is fairly flat & wide open with a few forced carries here and there. I enjoy this course, the par 5's in particular are very scoreable. Solid mid level alternative for the Palm Springs area that is in good shape and not overly tough for the average golfer. The tees were mostly lush, most divots had been properly maintained. The fairways were lush with few unfixed divots. The primary rough was not overly long but could be penal to chip from or hit longer clubs because it was thick. If you missed the grass rough, next stop was the native areas further off the fairways... depending on your luck, could be playable to unfindable within a few feet. The bunkers had decent sand but too many unraked areas. They could have been quite good if they had been raked throughout. More so than most courses, a main thing to avoid here IS the numerous fairway traps. Many have good sized faces that you basically could not reach the green in regulation if you found them. The greens putted medium fast speed and were smooth/firm. I was impressed that the maintenance staff had obviously been filling in ball marks with a green mixture. No huge slopes or tiers on these greens, easier than average to navigate overall. Well struck shots held well, but it was challenging to hold chips and pitches. The customer service was excellent from everyone. GPS to the front/middle & back of the green along with hole tips. Plentiful ice water stations available every few holes along with cups and a stocked ice chest. Recommended.

Played the Blues (69.6/117/6328) as a single in slightly less than 3H. Played through one 2 some and was otherwise unimpeded in clear, breezy conditions in the 70's. The course looks nice after over seeding. Cimarron is usually windy. The predominant wind pattern has only holes 1,5 and 9 playing crosswind. Holes 2-4 & 10-14 usually play downwind. Holes 6-8 & 15-18 usually play into the wind. So getting off to a good start on each 9 is potentially there. OB right and the wash left is a common theme as you play around the courses rectangular footprint. The tees were fairly lush and well maintained, Both the fairways and rough were very lush and nice to play from. Sand traps had good quality sand, but alot of players here must think someone else is meant to use the rakes beside each trap. The greens putted medium fast and were firm. Tough to hold shots on the downwind holes. Customer service very good in the pro shop, starter and the cart attendants. Drink cart out making the rounds. Fun, quasi links style layout that is not too challenging. Enough sand, water and desertscape areas to keep things interesting. Plenty of water stations on the course. Good budget alternative in the greater Palm Springs area. Recommended.

Played the Blues (69.6/117/6328) with 140ver in slightly less than 4H. There was no one behind us, so we hit numerous practice shots/putts trying to stay about a 1/2 hole behind the slower 2some in front of us. The round started in sunny, fairly calm conditions. Then we had 30-40 mph consistent wind in the middle of the round. It had settled down to what by then seemed like a moderate 2 club wind by the time we were finishing. From tee to green, the course has been scalped for over seeding, they close in a few days. In fact, they were over seeding a couple of holes as we played. The hard, dry conditions coupled with the extreme wind made for some challenging and sometimes laughable shots. Hit a high 6I over a green from well over 200 yards straight downwind, then came back and a well hit 8I was well short of another green... from 105 yards playing straight into the teeth of the wind. Bermuda tees, fairways and rough were dry and scalped pending over seeding. Scruffy but playable. Sand traps were poorly maintained. Good quality sand, but very inconsistent depths, I'm sure they have challenges keeping it in the traps when it's that windy. Bermuda greens were still okay. A little bumpy, medium speed, they held their lines well with firm, bold putts. OB right and the wash left is a common theme as you play around the courses rectangular footprint. Fun layout that is not too challenging. Enough sand, water and desertscape areas to keep things interesting. No frills course, have never seen an on course drink cart, usually no Marshall. Plenty of water stations on the course. Customer service very good in the pro shop and with the cart attendants. Usually a good budget alternative in the greater Palm Springs area. However, not recommended until they re-open after over seeding.

I played boulder course Sunday with my Dad, he's 80. We started about 8. It was wide open. Course is in terrific shape. Fairways are great and greens were firm but excellent. We finished at 11:30 and it was 97 deg when we left. For 25$ you can't beat it!

Played 36 with sixpez yesterday morning using two-for-$39 UnderPar deal. Can't beat $19.50 pp for two rounds of golf! In a weird twist of fate, our morning round found us paired with the same guy mpisarski and I were paired with last year when I used this deal! Like Keith said, we were finished with both rounds by noon, so no complaints on POP, even if the course was surprisingly busier than expected during our second round.

Conditions are really nice, relative to the time of year. The greens were very smooth, a little crusty on top and slow to medium slow. Despite being pretty firm, they accepted full shots quite well. Fairways were mostly very nice (for August). Same for the rough, but it might have had a few more thin areas than the fairways. Bunkers were by far the low point. They were wet, uneven, compacted and looked like no maintenance had occurred in them for months. Try to avoid! Tee boxes were all good.

Played 36 on Boulder this morning with Itslikeimsayin using the great UnderPar deal that comes out every year. We started a little after 6:00 and finished around noon, with the second round being a bit slower than the first thanks to more people being out there by that time.

The conditions were good. The course is starting to get a lot of brown spots late in the summer, but the playability is excellent. I only had a couple thin lies all day. Otherwise, the tee boxes, fairways and rough all had great coverage and things played quite nicely for mid-summer in the desert. The greens were firm-ish, but still very receptive of well-struck shots, and they were rolling smooth at medium speeds. The hole cuts were a bit tattered (I call it the sea anemone look), so it doesn't appear they are moving the holes every day this time of year. Probably cost me at least one lip-out. The bunkers are a bit ugly with varying sand consistency and very poor overall maintenance. There weren't nearly enough rakes out there for the size/amount of bunkering around some of these greens, so that doesn't help encourage people to clean up after themselves.

With this deal, I don't mind coming out to Cimarron once every year or two. It's a fine enough course that is quite forgiving, fairly well conditioned and you can usually get two rounds in pretty easily, even on a weekend morning.

Played the Boulder course from the whites, I prefer the Blues, today with my neighbors (wimps... LOL) in about 3.5 hours. POP was great until we caught a foursome on the 6th hole that were snails. Luckily they dropped one player at the turn and kept pace on the back nine. Very mild morning temps for this time of year with a little breeze. The driving range was in superb condition, nice grass stations and target greens/flags with a board showing accurate distances. Practice putting green was smooth and rolling slow. As with the last visit, seemed to roll quicker than the course greens.

Tee boxes were flat and had good lies/coverage. Some of the par 3's had a bit of divots, nothing unexpected.

Fairways were in good shape with very few browned areas. Short grass usually provided nice lies. Divot mix was on the carts to fill divots. Rough was not overly penal. The desert areas will eat up balls and the bushes can be brutal.

The traps were usually filled with decent sand and a little hard packed. They were in good shape regarding patron footprints which was nice. Overall decent shape for the bunkers.

The greens were smooth and rolling SLOWWWWWW. Good shots held close to ball marks. Not many unfixed ball marks which was great. They had been punched and sanded previously and were still showing a little of the larger punch hole. Still rolled pretty true and held lines without variation. Most of the greens are pretty flat and the ones that did have break definitely required some borrow. Speed was very slow.

Staff was good as usual and helpful. Carts had well stocked ice in the cooler, GPS info panel and pin position chart. There were plenty of water coolers around the course and cup provided in the cart cooler.

I enjoy the layout. Used the same ball for the entire round... a big plus for me! :) Good course for a reasonable rate that isn't a killer like many courses out here in the valley can be. The greens continue to be a wild card. I'll play here again.
