Played 9/10/22 @ 10am with a Golf Moose coupon. Rained on and off for most of the round. The course had great coverage throughout. Tee boxes were mostly level with the par 3s having some tilt on them. Rough was just 2 inches longer than the fairway, just enough to affect your club going through it. Sand was nice and fluffy in the two traps I was in. Greens were rolling great with subtle breaks on them, the speed was great. The course is playing really nice right now. I was able to go around twice since the Santa Rosa course was closed for play due to flooding.

Played Saturday April 2nd with a 7:20 tee time. This place is a well oiled machine and always seem to go off on time with ample gaps between groups. Conditions are a 8.5 out of 10 near a 9.

Played Saturday April 2nd with a 7:20 tee time. This place is a well oiled machine and always seem to go off on time with ample gaps between groups. Conditions are a 8.5 out of 10 near a 9.
Fairways have perfect lies and rough just long enough to give you fits with some lies. Bunkers have nice white sand for the traditional play.The only blemish to be had are the greens,just 1 year into the completely new greens, they do not receive shots well. After to a couple of holes to figure out to land short and run it up did scores improve. But they did run true, very true. Can't wait to play here again.
And at 4 hours for the round without waiting on the group in front or holding anyone behind us, made for a pleasant round.

Played 12/30 morning. Before we teed off, the starter told us that the greens were not holding shots and he was right. Unless you were hitting shots way up with a steep descent angle (and w/spin), most of the approaches were rolling out. I also learned that the course was originally a 9 hole executive course, and hence the four par 3s on the front nine. That said, the course was in great shape. Fairways had good coverage, greens were hard and fast, rough was minimal, and bunkers had decent sand. Pace of play was great (both here and Santa Rosa). There's a huge practice green by the small clubhouse, but no range. For that, you have to go to Santa Rosa. The greens are MUCH larger than Santa Rosa and imo, a bit more challenging. There's a few holes with water in play and some minor carries off the tee. I think Mountain Vista is a great value and worth a visit when in the area.

Rode the Blacks (6669/71.9/128) 12/29 with GDR23 in 3H, 40M mid day. Seemed alot longer, we waited almost every shot on 3somes in front of us. 60's, sunny and breezy. Conditions were VERY lush, almost immaculate across the board. Tees extremely lush and well maintained with few unfixed divots. Fairways lush and very nice to play from. Rough is 2-3", lush and thick. Sand traps have high quality white marble sand and are among the best I play anywhere. Large greens are firm/smooth and putted medium fast speed. No GPS on the basic carts or ports for electronics. No driving range, you have to go 1/2 mile down the street where the sister Santa Rosa course has a nice, all grass driving range. No on course services with COVID. Very unusual that they let us drive our morning round carts from Santa Rosa 1/2 mile down surface streets to San Gorgonio. Highly recommended, best conditioned course I have played in the Palm Springs area this year.

Rode the Blacks today 12/29/20 joined by my buddy Nickesquire as our second round of the day teeing off around 11:40am and finishing with a 3 hr 40 minute pace of play waiting behind a couple 3 ball groups. Weather was breezy and sunny. Same COVID-19 measures as its sister course Santa Rosa. This course does have a putting green but no driving range. Staff let us keep our carts from the 1st round and drive them down the road a half mile to this course. Layout: Never played a golf course where there are 3 par 3's on the 1st 5 holes. The front comes in at 2899 where the back nine comes in at a whopping 3770yds. Interesting way to get to 6700yds. I enjoy the Santa Rosa layout much better but now that I have played them both twice I really like both layouts especially the back nine here. Hole 14 here is a beast. Greens were even firmer and in nicer shape than Santa Rosa which is amazing. Fast and firm here. Most greens are huge and have big swales and different sections they can put the pin to make a 2 putt very challenging. Rating the greens a 9.5. Some of the better greens I have putted on this year. Fairways were super lush and in perfect shape. Rated 9.5/10 Rough was similar to Santa Rosa but maybe not as high. Lush maybe 2 inches and in perfect shape. Rated 9/10. Was in one greenside bunker on 5. They have the most beautiful white marble sand bunkers on this course. Perfect thick amount of sand and the color contrast amid the fairways and rough was breathtaking. They looked like Augusta National bunkers. Rated a 9.5/10. From what I hear they are newer. Tees were striped, level and lush. Rated 9.5/10 Highly Recommended.

Rode the Blacks (6669/71.9/128) for 36 holes using UP. Less than 2.5H POP as a single first out. Then around 4H POP with Gary and Scott mid day, very nice guys to get matched up with. 70's, sunny and windy. Customer service usually exceptional here, but today was a cluster. San Gorgonio Pro Shop closed, so they have you check in @ MV Santa Rosa 1/2 mile away. Would have been nice to have been advised of that beforehand, especially with it being prepaid? After the morning round, had to drive back to Santa Rosa to check in for the replay round. Could not do it over the phone, had to be in person? Was told even though several holes were vacant, could not play Santa Rosa because "X" hours were booked exclusively for men's club play? And they do not even give you a receipt, all they do is radio the guy @ San Gorgonio I was standing beside when I called to schedule the replay that I'm good to go? So drove back to San Gorgonio for 18 more rather than wait on 1 pm for "outside" play @ Santa Rosa. I'm sorry, but that whole plan is poorly thought out. Fairways mostly lush and very nice to play from. Firm and mowed low enough that the ball doesn't sit up like on a tee, you have to make clean strikes.

Rough is 2-3", lush and thick.

Sand traps have high quality white marble sand and were excellent. Some of the best maintained traps I encounter anywhere.

Large over seeded greens are firm, so expect some runout. Medium fast speed and smooth.

No GPS on the basic carts or ports for electronics. No driving range, you have to go 1/2 mile down the street where the sister Santa Rosa course has a nice, all grass driving range. Customer service always ++ here. No on course services with COVID.

Billy Casper design that is mostly flat with few elevation changes. Numerous well spaced tees, it's a good test for players of all skill levels. Nice balance in play ability and difficulty with some forced carries on tee shots over lakes from the back tees.

If you want to play a course(s) right now economically with social distancing in place, the two Mountain Vista's are about as good as it gets. Have played 54 holes here this week in plush conditions and was within a hole of another golfer maybe 4 of the 54 holes? Almost more maintenance workers than golfers. Highly recommended.

Billy Casper design that came through over seeding in excellent shape. Mostly flat layout with few elevation changes. Numerous well spaced tees, it's a good test for players of all skill levels. Nice balance in play ability and difficulty with some forced carries on tee shots over lakes from the back tees.

Fairways are lush and very nice to play from.

Rough is lush and thick. Great POP rough, tough to lose a ball.

Sand traps have excellent quality white sand and were well maintained. Some of the best traps around Palm Springs after they added the white marble sand in 2019.

Large over seeded greens putted medium fast speed and are very firm.

Customer service always very good here. No on course services with COVID. No GPS on the basic carts or ports for electronics. Rode the Blacks (6669/71.9/128) with Mneilson and his wife Doris in 3.5H early morning using Underpar. The weather was clear and calm. Around 45 when we teed off and close to 60 when we finished. The course is in excellent condition after fall over seeding. The over seeded tees were lush and very nicely maintained. The over seeded fairways are consistently lush and nice to play from. The over seeded rough is mostly lush and thick but not overly high. The sand traps were well maintained with thick, excellent quality white marble sand. The large over seeded greens were very nice. They are smooth, firm and putted medium fast with few ball marks. A negative is that San Gorgonio does not have a driving range. You have to go 1/2 mile down the street where the sister Santa Rosa course has an all grass driving range. No GPS or ports for electronics on the basic carts. The customer service was excellent from everyone encountered, especially Jose with the carts. Drink cart around several times. Definitely recommended.
