I am a member of Club Corp family so I get to play 2 rounds a month here at Mission Hills Country Club. We teed off 12/10 just before 1PM on the Dye course. There were hardly anyone out there although we saw many players on the Dinah Shore Course. Tee boxes, fairways, and rough are all in immaculate shape after the over seed. My only peeve is that their greens are really slow because they're letting it grow out and its not being rolled. Which made the approach shot much easier but boy was it difficult to get the ball to the green. Layout on Dye course is fantastic and it reminds me of Florida golf courses with ton of water which are in play on most holes. I always enjoy the Dye course because its not crowded and you can play at your own pace. Being a private club, usually attendants are very attentive but last few rounds, they've been more hands off which I believe is because of C19.

Rode the Blues (6568/72.0/136) in 3H mid day. Played the front with Benny and the back with Dr. John. Sunny, fairly calm and around 110. COVID-19: Clubhouse closed, pro shop open. 1 rider to a cart, ice/water stations closed. No on course services. Insert in Cups. Masks only required while checking in and if around course employees. Bermuda tees lush and well maintained. Bermuda fairways firm/lush, nice to play from. Bermuda rough semi lush, mowed down and not overly penal. Sand traps very well maintained with nice, fine sand. Bermuda greens were the only part of the course disappointing. Firm, they putted medium speed and were definitely middle of the summer Bermuda bumpy. Almost no ball marks because of the firmness. Demanding layout that I like better with each visit. Very few holes w/o water on this course, and the water is often barely off the fairway or green. Moguls, mounds, huge waste bunkers and rail road ties, this layout definitely has the traditional Dye look. Most holes have water left with the trees, mounds and sand right for your tee shots. Only a few holes have water right. Excellent customer service from all. They provide complementary bottled water since all water stations on the course were closed. All grass driving range with complementary balls plus nice practice chipping/putting areas are well above average, but were closed middle of the day for maintenance. Recommended, and if are a Pete Dye fan, highly recommended.

Not a lot to add to Nick's review from a week or two prior. Tee's, Fairways and Rough are in good shape right now but they are starting to brown due to the scorching heat. The greens are in great shape for this heat they are firm and quick but hold well hit shots. There is PVC in the cups and masks only required at the clubhouse. The only down side was there was no water, snack shop, or restrooms open on the course so be prepared. POP was under 3.5 hours as a 3 some. We let a single jump in front of us on hole one and didnt see anyone until a single caught us on 17. If you have the chance its worth a play.

Ice chests and divot mix bottles removed. Cups raised but ball can sometimes go in. Masks only now required while checking in and if around other people on the course. Familiar theme on this layout is water left with the trees, mounds and sand right for most tee shots. Many holes had water left, several from tee to green. Only a few have water right. Very few holes w/o water on this course, and the water is often barely off the fairway or green. Throw in the expected Dye trademarks. Moguls, mounds, huge waste bunkers and rail road ties, and this layout definitely has the traditional Dye look. Bermuda tees lush and well maintained. Bermuda fairways firm/lush, very nice to play from. Bermuda rough not very tall or overly penal, but not as consistently lush as the rest of the course. ' Sand traps excellently maintained with nice, fine sand. Bermuda greens were firm, smooth and putted medium fast. Almost no ball marks because of the firmness. Tougher than average to navigate around these green complexes. Decent amount of mounds rather than tiers with run off areas where balls barely off can end up 15 yards off the green. Excellent customer service from all. They provide bottled water since the water stations on the course are closed. Rode the Blues (6568/72.0/136) in 3H, 20M with Dan, excellent guy to get matched up with. Sunny, fairly calm and in the upper 80's made for great golfing conditions. I am told that many members do not care for this course and mostly play the two other M.H.C.C. courses. Easy, this course is not. Familiar theme here is water left, trees, mounds and sand right for most tee shots. If you have played other local Dye courses like LQ Dunes, Westin MH Dye and PGA West Stadium, you know what to expect. Except there is more water here. Over a dozen holes had water left, several from tee to green. Only a few had water right. Very few holes w/o water on this course, and it is usually barely off the fairway. Throw in the usual Dye moguls, mounds, huge waste bunkers and rail road ties, and it definitely has the traditional Dye look. Tees lush and well maintained. Fairways firm/lush, very nice to play from. They do not overseed the rough, so it is mostly dormant Bermuda with other grasses throw in. Not very tall or overly penal, but it's not nearly in the immaculate condition the rest of the course is. Sand traps excellently maintained with nice, fine sand. Greens excellent. Firm, smooth and medium fast. Almost no ball marks because of the firmness. Tougher than average to navigate around these green complexes. Decent amount of mounds rather than tiers with run off areas where balls barely off can end up 15 yards off the green. They space the tee times really well here. Last group usually on the green before they have the next group tee off. Excellent customer service from the valet to pro shop/Starter all the way back to valet. Open snack shop on the course, no cart person today. They provide bottled water in your cart and there are adequate water stations on the course. All grass driving range with nice practice chipping/putting areas are well above average. Definitely recommended.

Played here today with an 11:58 tee time. First-class facility with valet parking, friendly check-in, plentiful practice areas and clear announcements of calling people to the tee for all three courses. The starter had every group wait until the group ahead is on the first green, creating a little buffer from the start. I was paired with another single visiting from Kentucky and a couple visiting from Florida. I think we started just a few minutes late and finished in just about 4.5 hours.

Conditions are pretty much excellent. Greens are smooth as can be, medium-fast and more firm than soft. Full shots didn't make much of a ball mark and took a bounce or two before stopping. Fairways are deep green, lush and provide ample cushion under the ball. Dormant bermuda rough is cut pretty short, not too penal and provides a nice visual contrast to the fairways. I was only in one fairway bunker and it was good. Tee boxes excellent.

I hadn't played here since a high school tournament over Spring Break '89! Course plays generally on the other side of Dinah Shore Drive from the clubhouse except for holes 1 and 18. I actually remembered it being more difficult than it is. Tons of water and pretty severe Pete Dye bunkering. Also quite a few elevated greens. But like most Dye courses, if you avoid the severe trouble spots, very playable. The last four holes are the standouts in my book, with a short par-4 15th with a severely elevated green, a fantastic par-5 16th that goes uphill on the second shot and then drops down to a little, well-protected green. The 17th is a typical Dye 17th with lots of water, as the green juts out into a lake like a peninsula. The finisher is relatively toned down for Dye, with water all down the left.

Highly recommended if you have a chance to play here!

Played the Dye at MHCC on 1/3/20 @ 11:34am. It is very similar to The Stadium Course over at PGA West. It was awesome tee to green. The greens were small, there is water everywhere, and where the water isn't, there is sand on the opposite side. The dormant rough was easy to hit from, and the one green side bunker I was in was pure to hit from. Its a solid test of golf, but if you are striking it well, you can score well. What would make the course really difficult is if the greens were lightening fast. Yesterday the greens were rolling at a medium pace which helped big time in my ability to keep my score respectable for my first time out. There were numerous greens that looked as though there was not a flat spot on them. Very visually intimidating off the tee like many Dye courses and the tee box can set you up for trouble if you do not pay attention. I had a blast and highly suggest the track if you would like a challenge.

Went out again on 1/1/20 they had a 9am shotgun start on 10 due to maintenance. We didn't notice a lot of cars in the parking lot and when we checked in the starter said we were group 10 A. We did not see a single group in front of us and only one group 2 holes behind us. We went around in 3:45 taking it easy and goofing around. Not much change in the course other than the sand traps I found today didn't have a lot of sand and were wet. Everything else was in great shape. I did also notice that the dormant rough looks to be coming out of dormancy in a few areas as its starting to get a green tint to it. Weather was 70 degree and no wind today which made for a perfect day.

Played 12/28 using my Club Corp card for just a cart fee. If you have played Pete Dye courses before you know he likes water and sand traps. This course is no different. I would compare this course to PGA west stadium with less steroids. That being said this course is very demanding off the tee. There is water on the left of most holes and deep sand protecting the right. The greens are not overly small and once on them are modest in difficulty.

Course conditions are real nice at the moment with overseeded fairways and tee boxes blened with the golden brown rough make for a visually stunning course. For a cherry on top the surrounding mountains had snow all over them so a picture perfect day. The fairways were cut just right allowing some roll out on shots. Even after all the rain a few days before I found no muddy areas on the entire course. Greens were medium speed and just a touch firm but very fair. The rough was dormant but most balls would use the slope and come back to the fairway or roll to the cart paths and beyond, this made water holes extra tough.

Over all I really enjoyed the challenge and once the rough comes back from hibernation this course with be ridiculously tough from the tips. Talking to the members I paired with they said the dye is the least favorite due to the challenge but I like that in a course. If you have a chance go play it, you will not be disappointed.
