Played the Blues (5827/67.3/120) in 3H, 45M using Forelinx. The weather was clear, almost no wind and around 80 on a very busy weekday afternoon. Many holes are fairly tight, OB on both sides is a common theme on this layout. The course is relatively short and you have to manage the course and avoid penalty strokes, but I could see good golfers going really low here. Could be considered an easy course if you keep it in play. The tees were lush but fairly chewed up. I did a lot of divot repairing. The fairways are over seeded and played very nice. Mowed close, firm, decent amount of roll, few unrepaired divots. The rough was lush and mowed down close, not too penal to play out of. The traps were decent with good quality sand. These smallish greens slope gently from back to front, no tiers or large mounds to navigate. They putted mostly smooth and medium speed. Much softer than last week, and that was reflected in many more ball marks. The customer service was excellent. Drink cart out making the rounds & plenty of water stations. This course would be easy to walk, shorter, flat and most tees are close to the last green. The layout is unremarkable, many holes blend in with dozens of holes on other old school Palm Springs layouts. However, the conditions are usually good and there are definitely some fun holes here. Excellent option for seniors and golfers that do not desire forced carries and penal rough. Not a destination course, but I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone desiring a quick round on an easier course in very good condition.

Played the Blues (5827/67.3/120) with Greg & JoAnn in 3H, 45M using Forelinx. The weather was mid 60's, overcast with a little breeze. This course would be easy to walk, very flat and most tees are close to the last green. Other than #17, a risk reward par 5 that runs around a lake, the layout will not wow you. Many holes would remind you of holes on dozens of other vintage Palm Springs courses. However, the playing conditions are above average to excellent and there are some fun holes here. Woodhaven is an older, traditional desert layout surrounded on all 4 sides by city streets in a rectangular shape. The front and the back branch off in opposite directions so that on the front side, the theme is that OB left is the street, while on the back, OB right is the street. Houses or condo's line the other side of almost every hole, so OB down both sides is almost a given here. Many holes are fairly tight, you need to nudge the ball around this course and avoid penalty strokes. If you can do that, the course is relatively short and scoreable. The tees were still a little thin from over seeding in spots. Relatively flat with most divots already maintained. The fairways were over seeded and played very nice. Mowed close with few fairway divots not already filled in. The rough was lush but overly tall. Good POP rough. The traps were well maintained with fluffy sand. Nice to play from. The greens were very smooth and putted medium fast speed. Firm, even well struck irons shots usually released, so that needed to be taken into account on club selection. These greens are also on the small side, so approach shots barely offline can easily miss the greens. The customer service was excellent from everyone. Drink cart out making the rounds. This course is an excellent option for seniors and golfers that do not desire forced carries and penal rough. Not a destination course, but I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone desiring a quick round on an easier course in very good condition.

Don't let the 5827 yards fool you. You have to golf your ball out here. Houses come into play on several holes. Water is in play on three holes. 17 is a fantastic risk/reward par 5. The fairways were just a little thin to my liking. This is due to cart damage and can't be helped. Criticism ends here. The course is in great shape. The texture of sand in the bunkers is perfect. It is much easier to play out of PGA tour like bunkers where you have a cushion for the club to bounce rather than dig. Woodhaven doesn't have the glamour of PGA West, or La Quinta but if you are looking for a fun course in great condition you can't go wrong here.

This was my last stop on my weekend golf trip. I chose Woodhaven to play based on the recent favorable reviews on GK and, being a bit tired after driving in from AZ, I thought a relatively short course would be just right. I got a reasonable price of $40 with a GN Hot deal.

The customer service was fantastic. Everyone I encountered, the concierge, snack bar, pro shop, starter, marshal, and other golfers/residents, all were friendly and welcoming. I
was paired with a very nice family of three here on an extended vacation from Canada.

The conditions of the course were amazing. Everything is sooooo green!! The fairways were lush with very few divots. The tee boxes mostly level. A few were chewed up but I’ve seen a lot worse. The greens were smooth, medium fast with few marks. The bunkers varied. The first two I was in had very shallow, crusty sand, the other two were soft and very easy to hit from. The rough was pretty long but the balls sat up nicely.

The layout of the course was kind of weird. I’ve never seen a course that had houses on every single hole. That certainly explained the reason for the option to purchase “glass insurance” for $2.00. Having an ice chest on the cart was much appreciated in the 95 degree heat but there only a couple water stations and no GPS. We got stuck behind a slow foursome. The marshal talked to them three times. Two of the players quit after the 13th hole so things started to move a bit faster. We finished in 4.5 hours.

Although this course wouldn’t be my first choice, I would play it again .

Played Woodhaven for my first time today using Forelinx. I had a 1:38 tee time but arrived around 12:15 to find the course super packed. I told them I was ready to go whenever but they were unable to get me out early. We even had to wait for groups to finish for me to get a cart and head to the first tee a few minutes past my scheduled time. I was paired with a nice couple from Connecticut who winter here at Woodhaven. Pace wasn't great and our chances of finishing looked bleak early on the back nine, but luckily things sped up and I finished just before dark. Several times there were big backups with no marshals, but each time the backup seemed to work itself out pretty quickly. Fortunately, they have really nice facilities that allowed me to pass the time (two small putting greens, a large chipping green, range, bar room with TVs showing the Northern Trust Open) before I got started.

Conditions are fantastic. It's sort of bizarre to me that if you drive 90 minutes to the desert, the drought doesn't seem to be an issue when so many Southland courses are currently all dried out. The whole course is very lush and green. Greens were great, smooth, medium fast and more firm than soft. Late in the day they started showing footprints and spike marks and what not, but overall they were very good. Fairways and rough are great, with the rough cut pretty short. Tee boxes excellent. Sand in the bunkers was good.

This course is 5,800 yards of quintessential "Residential Palm Desert" golf. Many holes are bordered by OB on both sides. The routing is interesting in that 12 of the holes circle around the perimeter of the community, but there are six holes on what they call the "inside" or the interior that have parallel fairways and surround the driving range. I liked the layout more than I expected and had a great time. It's not necessarily a course I would choose among all of the options in the desert, but with Forelinx it was fun to play and makes for a good second course in a 36-hole day.

Other than during the hot season, this course would be easy to walk, shorter, flat and most tees are close to the last green. Kind of a fun course that could be an excellent choice for seniors and golfers that would like to play a less demanding, shorter course in very good condition that doesn't require forced carries or have penal rough.

The tees are lush but a little longer than I prefer. They had a decent amount of divots, most properly maintained.

The over seeded fairways are very lush and mowed close. Excellent!

The rough was also lush and not long, just long enough to make longer clubs a chancy play.

The traps had good quality sand and were well maintained.

The greens were very firm, even well struck irons shots usually released. They are very smooth and putted medium speed. They slope gently from back to front and only a few have tiers. Not alot of break on these greens, These greens are probably only about 1/2 the size of the greens on many courses I play. So you can expect many chips shots to tight pin locations @ Woodhaven.

OB on both sides the length of the hole is a common theme on this layout. The course is fairly short and scoreable if you are straight, especially off the tee. Definitely not a grip it/rip it type course, there are many fairly tight to tight holes. Few lost ball areas and most tees are very close to the last green all contribute to an expected quick POP @ Woodhaven.

The customer service was excellent, especially Kabrea in the Pro Shop. No drink cart, but plenty of water stations. Not a destination course, but I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone desiring a quick round on a less demanding course in very good condition.

The course is fairly short and scoreable if you are straight, especially off the tee. Definitely not a grip it/rip it type course, there are many fairly tight to tight holes. They keep it fairly low, so you rarely lose balls on this course unless you go OB. The traps were well maintained with good quality sand. The greens were very smooth and putted medium speed. They are very firm, even well struck irons shots usually released. They slope gently from back to front and only a few have tiers. Not alot of break on these greens, I usually putt well here. Not a great or overly demanding layout, but the conditions are very good and there are some fun holes here. Excellent choice for seniors and golfers that would like to play a shorter course in very good condition that doesn't have forced carries or penal rough. The tees were lush but had a decent amount of divots, most already filled. The fairways are lush and mowed close, with the over seeding they play very well. Firm, you get a decent amount of roll.
