I played here 3/23 with fellow GKer Gary00. He left such a comprehensive review that I didn't think it was necessary to write review. But I was looking back at my review in December and conditions were so much better this time that I decided to write an update.

Back in December things were a little dry since it was late in the season. With all the rain we've had conditions in March were much different. Fairways were still short and played nicely. The rough was much more lush, although cut to a height were finding your ball was not difficult (unless you hit them where I hit a few). The course is in a wonderful setting, but after the rain the wildflowers were in bloom, and the old oak trees lining the fairways were just spectacular. A few of the bunkers could have used a little more sand, and I had a heck of a time reading the greens, but all in all the course is in great shape.

3/23 using GK $32 coupon on a cool breezy (1-2 club worth) day playing with GKr David(Broomy) with a POP of right at 4 hours including looping back to replay 3-4 holes to minimize just waiting on the tee for the groups ahead.
Fairways have good cover with good cushion and yet enough firmness to give decent roll. Rough is present adjacent to fairways generally cut to about 1 1/2 inches and can be thickish and wirery making good contact a challenge. Some areas around greens are even deeper presenting the option to chunk or fly depending on the execution or lack there of.
Found 3 green side bunkers containing a fine but nicely compacted sand that had been recently groomed--played very fairly even if I couldn't convert.
Tees level but recently punched and a couple of marker placements were in areas that were massively sanded to repair damage.
Greens smooth, fast and firm(hard) not receptive leaving a lot of recovery shots from the back of the green. Tough pin placements often near slopes resulting in putts that slid a little past the hole finished well past. Very challenging but fun.
Staff members are friendly and cheerful.
Great remote tract out in nature--tough at times and demands full attention-but very worth the 1 hr 15 min drive.

I had the pleasure of playing the Cross Creek course on Saturday the 18th of March. The course is in great shape with the surrounding hillsides lush and green. The course itself is green and in great shape. There are very few bare spots and only a few wet/muddy areas in the fairways. The greens are in good shape and were pretty hard making a good approach shot important. I had several mid iron shots land on the green only to roll off the side or back. On the greens the puts rolled true and were a challenge to read. The driving range is in good shape with nice level tee box areas. I felt the putting greens did seem to be a bit slower than the greens on course. I do feel that you need to play this course several time to understand hoe to score on some of the holes. I look forward to playing again with a better knowledge of the course. This is a course that I recommend playing

Tee'd it up with Gregholla yesterday for our GK CUP match. Tee time was 710 which was second off. We followed a two some that disappeared after one hole and we were left as the pace setters for the day. The driving range and practice area is decent and plenty of room to warm up.

As for the course conditions I would rate this course an 8 out of 10 right now.

The tee boxes have grown in nicely and they are mostly level with plenty of space to choose from.

The fairways might be the best I have ever seen on this course. All cut to a nice short length with full coverage throughout the course. I hope this keeps up through the harsh summer.

The rough was very penal and made hitting out of it a ROUGH time,see what I did there :) , it was consistently 3-5 inches deep and would grab your club like no way I have experienced before. There was also good coverage throughout the course.

The Greens were by far the toughest that I have played in quite a while. They were Firm, Fast, and smooth. All the greens have false edges surrounding the perimeter and with the greens being real firm and fast it made keeping shots on the green very tough. The greens are also tough to read because of the speed, what looks like a one cup break left may easily miss the hole by two feet to the left due to the quickness and slope of the greens.

AS for the sand. There are not a ton of bunkers on the course but the two that I found as well as the few my partners found were all in bad shape. The sand was like clay and made you launch the ball out and way over the green. There seems to be no sand and its all just compacted clay. Im sure there are good bunkers on the course but the ones we found were just in very tough condition.

IN all it was a fun day and for a regular rate of 65 from their website I will gladly return. One note is if you play after 10am your round can be very slow so please be prepared for a long day. You do get look to look at all of the scenery which helps a lot.

I give it a two thumbs up!

They overseeded the golf course so it was in great shape.
The fairways were in fantastic shape, the tee boxes were lush. The rough was fair, an extra 1 -2 inches thick when compared to fairway. The greens firm but rolled true. The golf guru's could not have asked for better scoring conditions.
I highly recommend that you check out CrossCreek Golf Course for your next golf outing.
With all of the wineries in Temecula I would suggest that you make a weekend out of it and play golf here.

Played Thursday for the first time in a couple years. The course is very green but playing firm and fast. Some of the quickest greens I've played in a while. Greens were firm too, had to play for a release.

I forgot how much I liked the layout. It's challenging. Target golf at its finest.

Will be coming back soon.

Played Wednesday, 3/8 as part a GK Guru outing with gary00 and alan_grant. Great deal and tough to pass up. Thanks johnnygk! Our pace of play was about 3.5 hours. We caught up with a 4 some on the 3rd hole and they let us play through which was great as they fell way back. Have not played here in several years and was very surprised to see so many cars in the parking lot. Nice to see as the last time I was here, which was also during the week, had very few cars. Great customer service. Walked up to the starter and when I mentioned I was with the GK group, the GM, Dave Garner came out to say hello. It was so nice of him to come out, shake hands and thank us for coming out. Very classy. Of course, we caught this course on a great day. A little warm but not much wind to speak of. The course is in great shape and is fun to play. Some of the holes were weird, particularly on the back. Pretty narrow and some blind landing areas. Don’t have to use driver on many of the holes. The scenery is fabulous on the back 9. Had to stop and take some pictures. The course is playing great right now. Fairways were in great shape. Didn’t have a bad lie out there but you can’t be spraying it around or it will be un playable. The rough was thick but was able to get a club on the ball. Tee boxes were fine. Some were being worked on and were covered with sand but for the most part all of the tee boxes were in pretty good shape. I was only in one bunker and it was hard pan. I am guessing the other bunkers were similar. The greens! Ah the Greens! Well, they were in great shape. Fast and rolled true but were hard. Couldn’t hold em’. Very few ball marks out there so you always had a nice role but there were some undulations with significant breaks. Having not played this course in several years, I forgot many of the holes and course knowledge is essential here. As such, a big thank you to Alan who was great in guiding us through the course. And thank you Gary for being a great cart partner! All in all a great day out at Cross Creek. This course is a must play.

3/8 happily played with gurus allan_grant and larryq2001 on a beautiful spring am with conditions being quite ideal. The course has some of the best aesthetics around very scenic and idyllic. Fairways generally have excellent cover--with good lies and cushion while also being firm enough to give extra roll. #1 had a cluster of divots(about 1/2 filled) around the 150 pole which is a favored landing area--only noticeable damage and #7 was unusually thin in places with different types of grasses creating a kind of clumpy condition where the ball sat down between the small clumps--did not encounter anything similar elsewhere.
Rough about 1-1 1/2 inches along fairways with a light consistency that was quite playable allowing for pretty good contact with the proper swing. Rough around greens a little longer and much thicker and way more of a challenge both to judge the lie and effect on the club and proper force required. I tended to get it right about 70% of the time but did not reward myself with a descent shot followed by a good 1 putt.
Tees mostly had good cover with#12 being the exception having been completely sanded.
Found greenside bunker on 10 which was packed sand with about 1/2 inch of sand over wet dirt. From observation most bunkers looked to have much better conditions. According to Chuck the friendly and very informative starter the course had 4 inches of rain from the last storm and had advised that even though the bunkers are being refurbished some had suffered from the heavy rain. He was really upbeat about current owners commitment to keep pushing improvements.
Greens were fast smooth FIRM with subtle breaks.. Could not blame the greens for my misses--oh so close so often--Larry by the way putted lights out. Greens were not fully receptive as many shots seemed to carry long and chips and pitches had to be played to account for the roll out.

The course is located off the beaten path but is well worth the extra drive time and with the GK voucher it is a real bargain while providing a good test for your game.

Used the GK certificate to play a great round at wonderful Cross Creek - an absolute steal for the $32 charged in its current condition, especially on a gorgeous, sunny day. Cross Creek is a tremendously fun track with only a very few 'funky' holes. Funky, not quirky - and there is a difference. But for the most part the scenery and layout is simply outstanding and there's never a dull moment when you settle in to each tee box. Long carries, ravines, tree trouble, narrow openings - you name it, it's there to challenge your game. Conditions right now are terrific across the board. The fairways are in excellent shape and you'll have trouble finding a bad lie if you hit a fairway. Sure, there are a very small amount of thin areas where it looks like recent storms did some damage, but overall it's fantastic. The rough is also very thick but not too penalizing - you can definitely work your way out of it. Tee boxes are in fine shape, even the par 3s. And the sand that I did see (only ended up in one bunker on 14) looked very playable - didn't hear a single complaint from any of the fine gentlemen I got paired up with to play. And the greens? Very, very nice. Lots of tough pin placements at Cross Creek so the speed can be tricky, but you'll always get a true roll, no ball marks, and a good surface that holds well struck shots. If there's any gripe at all you could definitely say they should upgrade the carts asap and maybe even invest in some GPS as it's a tough course without intimate knowledge of its contours, but that may actually not be possible - see below. Don't forget that there is absolutely no cell phone reception out there so keep that in mind if scheduling a round. But it's an absolute treat to play this wonderful course right now, made even better by the outstanding GK deal to get it done. Can't wait to go back again.
