Fairways are rather thin, and have alot of dead grass on maybe 1/3 of most of holes. They are re-soding as fast as they can, but we all know how hot it's been here lately. Greens ok, some tee box's were very thin, we played the gold tee's. Good senior rate @ $45.

Played on 7/20 which was about 2 years since the last time I played. The reason for my hiatus was the green fees at the time were fast approaching the $100 range. I must say that it's now more reasonably priced at $69 on a weekend and definately worth the price of admission. I guess with so many courses to pick from in the area they are starting to be more competitive in price.

Must say that I was a bit concerned on how play would be on my first time back based on the comments that "Cheese Burger" had posted. I'm happy to say that my experience was completely opposite of his and it turned out to be a great golf outing with our round finishing in just over 4 hours.

Course staff was great and I don't ever remember playing a course where the cart girl came around so many times. I mean we must have seen her 4 times a 9! I'm definately putting Eagle Glen back on my regular play list.

I AM OFFICIALLY DONE PLAYING GOLF AT EAGLE GLEN.

They have finally succeeded in driving away not only myself, but my regular group of 8-10 golfers who have been loyal players of a once-great Inland Empire track since Troon Golf opened the place in 1999.

We had the Saturday (7/12/08) 7:30 A.M. starting-time slot...and we knew there was trouble from the outset. They were about fifteen-minutes behind schedule.

Hey...cut them some slack, Cheese! Right? C'mon...it's a Saturday.

Teeing-off two groups in front of us was a FIVESOME. We voiced our complaint to the starter...to no avail. Please note that we had previously made our feelings on the fivesome problem known to management last time we played...

The starter's line: "Oh, don't worry. They're all members here. They'll keep it moving."

After a chorus of "We sure hope so's" by our group, we headed-off for the front-nine.

Where we proceeded to wait on every single shot for ten holes!!!

We did see a marshall on the par-five 5th hole. As we were waiting to hit our third shots, he came by to apologize for the slow play.

Again, we voiced to the marshall our profound disagreement with Eagle Glen's policy of letting out fivesomes first-thing on a weekend day when all customers, so-called "members" or not, are paying top-dollar to play...and everybody ends up suffering through a five-hour round of whacking and waiting.

He claimed that it was NOT the fivesome...but "the foursome in front of them" that was holding things up.

Although we doubted the veracity of the claim we thanked him for his efforts. We didn't much care WHO was holding up the course...only that things might improve by the time we made the turn.

It was not to be. The threesome in front of us (yes...in the infinite wisdom of the geniuses at Eagle Glen, they followed the fivesome with a threesome....I $#!+ you not!) was waiting to hit on the #10 par-three tee whan we arrived. After waiting on the tee and putting-out, (by then there were two groups waiting on the #10 tee behind us....we arrived at the tee-box for the par-four #11.

Part of the problem was that the Gold Tees were pretty far back on every hole...but - it turns out that was maybe only 10% of the hold-up.

For thoe of you who don't know Eagle Glen, the view of the back-side from the #11 tee-box is quite something. It's really stunning. Besides that - the hilltop tee affords a view of the entire final eight holes. From here you can see what the REAL story is regarding who is holding up the course.

WHAT WE SAW:

The threesome in front of us, standing in the middle of the par-four fairway, waiting to hit their second shots, as obviously, the green was still occupied by the offending fivesome.

We also CLEARLY took note of the unobstructed view of the following:

The par-five 12th hole ("Lang Whang" - a 650-yard monster from the tips!) was completely empty.

The tee-box. The landing area. The landing area for shot #2. The greenside. The green itself.

The foursome that was supposedly "holding things up"? Yeah....you guessed it. They were teeing-off clear up ahead on the par-four #13!!!

That's almost half-a-mile with no golfers!!!

We hit our tee-shots on #11. When we reached our ball....my playing partner noticed that the fivesome was STILL on the tee of Lang Whang!!

"This is ridiculous!" he exclaimed!! Pushing various buttons on the GPS system, we finally found the "Call Marshall" button - - and summoned help.

While we were waiting to tee off on #12...the Marshall did show up....asking if we needed a new cart...which I thought was funny, as we clearly pushed the "Call Marshall" button and not the "Need New Cart" button....

We informed him that the problem with the hold-up on "his golf course" was not the foursome up-ahead (as we had been told)...but the FIVESOME that we had been wary of the entire morning.

The Marshall drove off.

NOT up ahead to get the offending fivesome - now a-full-hole-and-a-half behind - moving. Nope. He drove back to the clubhouse after doing NOTHING!!

We continued to wait on every shot for the next few holes.

As we approached the green at #16....we heard a big ruckus up at the tee-box for the par-three #17 tee.

Not only was the fivesome holding up play for everybody behind them...

(NB: I did not originally think that I was going to mention this...as I do not intend to get the poor cart-girl in trouble...and I do NOT blame her...I'm sure she was pressured into this by "customers" and I fully understand...)

BUT THERE THEY ARE...ALL FIVE OF THEM - AND THEY WERE ALL STANDING AROUND WATCHING AS THEY LET THE CART GIRL HIT A TEE-SHOT!

Let's see....what was it that the starter said to our group almost five hours ago?

"Oh...THEY'RE "members" - - they'll keep things moving!!"

Hmmm. I guess that, like the American Express commercial says: "Membership has its privileges."

Evidently, at Eagle Glen Golf Club that must mean: "Privilege to act like a bunch of @$$#ol#$..."

Completing our round...we saw one last Marshall on the 18th fairway...where we told him the story.

Yeahrightwhatever.

Before we left (and having dropped another $120.00 on lunch and drinks....kiss that goodby Mr. Eagle Glen GM)...my good friend walked into the pro-shop and told the GM about our profound displeasure with having to needlessly follow a fivesome of yay-hoos on a Saturday morning.

His answer? Not "We're sorry". Nope. Not "We're working on the problem".

Simply: "Thank you."

That's it.

And that's it for me. That's it for my friends.

I guess they really don't care, either.

Goodbye Eagle Glen. Hello Oak Quarry, Hidden Valley, Goose Creek or the other fine courses along the "15 corridor" that would never THINK of putting out fivesomes on a Saturday.

Oh. Note to "members" of Eagle Glen...I'd rather dig out my eyeballs with a golf-tee than go off as a fivesome on a Saturday and hold up and ruin a hard-earned day of golf for others.

Selfish, arrogant and costly.

Good riddance. You've seen my last dollar, Eagle Glen. Way to go.

Played Saturday afternoon. Great pace. I guess everyone was out of town. Starter told me they were transitioning from Rye to Bermuda so color wouldn't be great. That was true but all of the fairways have a ton of grass and great lies.
Greens were firm and seemed a lot quicker than people indicate and better than the last time I played.
Saw a bunch of Rangers and two different Beverage Cart girls.
I like this place. It is always great golf and service is pretty darn good. I will be back and I definitely suggest playing here.

Played on June 27 and pleased to find the course in very good condition. Some posts have suggested the course was lacking with new ownership, but I didn't find that to be the case. There are some areas that are under repair, very small area on the par 5 12th, other than that the course was like always. Good fairways, quick smooth greens, rough that was fair, and all but one teebox was flat and not badly chewed up. The course should still be re-rated so there is a split between the tips(6900 yards) and next set of tees (6290 yards) and this can be done with any chznges to the course just the scorecard. Three or four holes would play from gold tees instead of black and you would have about a 6500 yard layout. Unless that happens some holes are just to long to play for most average golfers, or those that can't hit a 270 yard drive and 230+ 3-wood. I haven't posted a score on this course for almost 2 years because I play from gold teebox on 3 holes and black on the rest. Still a great track, good conditioning, nice environment away from city traffic and encroaching housing developments.

Wow, A course G.M. that doesn't use an alias to toot his own horn (Sierra Lakes), I'm impressed. I played 6/18 and the course is trying to improve. But I see three issues that aren't being addressed. First, no snack bar on the course (#10 is far from the clubhouse), on a hot day one can get very thirsty. Second (and part of #1), didn't see a cart girl. Lastly, the entire course has very few yardage makers, even if they marked the cart path, it would help. Of these three....they really should invest in a snack bar on the course, afterall it would generate more income and take care of those who still play here.
