Good day—

We here at Eagle Glen very much appreciate your patronage and want to keep you abreast of what is happening here at the course with regard to our playing conditions.

First, we have begun to transition our fairways and roughs from the over seeded Rye grass and back to Bermuda for the summer. This transition will certainly create some cosmetic issues with grass that will be brown in color. This is due to us lowering our mow heights to promote growth of the Bermuda grass. Chemical applications are also being performed to stimulate this transition.

Simultaneously, we had a severe problem with organic material that occurred in our irrigation lines. This prevented proper watering in some areas and has generated a quicker transition of the Rye to Bermuda than we were anticipating. This problem has been sourced, identified, and is in its final stages of being rectified.

We plan to begin adding sod to our stressed rough areas now that the season for Bermuda grass growth is near. This will begin later this month and continue well into the summer.

Certainly, the course is not as cosmetically appealing as we would like, but it will not affect the high level of playing conditions that we are trying to provide for our guests.

We are continuing the aggressive hand tilling and amending of our bunker sand. This will provide a softer and more consistent surface from which to play. This will continue all year long until we can repair all the bunkers properly some time next year.

Our Aeration process was a great success. Our greens have rebounded extremely well and the completed healing process is far ahead of schedule. We will always continue to verti-cut our greens and apply a light top dressing. This program helps us to provide you with the best putting surface we are able.

One note on our greens. We do purposely try to keep our speeds consistently around nine on the meter. This is due to our severe undulations and frankly to aid in a quicker Pace of Play.

Finally, I want to address the last two comments about the recent tournament. While we do not condone slow play and do everything to avoid it, ultimately it comes down to the players. All golfers should play ready golf and play within their skill level. If we all did this, then yes, all golf courses would play faster. This is not a new problem, nor is it solely at our facility. As for fivesomes, we will send them out when appropriate so that we do not clog the course with twosomes and threesomes that may be created by “short shows.” When we do this, we send maybe one per hour. This does not slow down play. The individual golfer’s ability to keep a ball in the fairway and play ready golf is what slows down play.

I agree with the comments about slow play and we are working hard with numerous scenarios to improve our pace. I myself work the first tee regularly to aid in this endeavor. On behalf of the staff, I apologize if you do not think we take this seriously and we are working diligently to always improve our guests’ experience.

Played Tues 7 AM tee time. Staff was friendly, starter got us out on time. Course is in good condition, fairways are lush with some divots but rolled well. Greens were slow, have not completely healed from aeration, and have some tricky undulations (at least for me they were tricky).

I don't know what tee time imageplayer had but we played in 4hr10min, with those ten minutes used for looking for errant shots on 3 holes, about 3 min per hole. We did not hold anyone up, a 2 some behind us caught up to us around the 14th hole.

There was a lot of water running on several fairways, made them soft and mushy in some areas, but playable.

Yeah we all know the greens were punched few weeks ago but so was Goose Creek and we had great time there as the course recovered nicely like it should. But here the condition was just unacceptable. ... Continue »

Yeah we all know the greens were punched few weeks ago but so was Goose Creek and we had great time there as the course recovered nicely like it should. But here the condition was just unacceptable. Did someone say this is managed by Troon golf? I felt like I was playing Griffith park with water and without bugs.

The greens were slow except for the last 2 holes, 17 & 18. Slow play was realized as soon as we saw the first tee and practice green as we checked in. The layout is nice and no tricks thru out the course. All par 5s are reachable in 2 shots. Par 3s are easy.

Not going back until I hear some good news on better condition and faster greens.

Over the years, I've always attempted to post detailed, informative golf course reviews on Greenskeeper.org since I joined this site in 2002.

Those who know me know that I'm an avid golfer who has been playing this grand olde gaeme for almost forty years. I know when something is right...and I know when something "ain't right".

And "I know that I know", for sure, when the freakin' Emperor has on no clothes!

I played in the foursome with Mr. Murrlaw1 (see his review, below) on this past Saturday morning (5/3/08, for the record), and I must heartily concur with his comments.

N.B. to the management at Eagle Glen..."DUDES...WHAT IN THE WORLD WERE YOU THINKING???"

Yes, there were marshalls on the course. And, indeed, they did tell us (on more than one occasion) that it was a "management decision" to let FIVESOMES on the course.

Come ON, guys!!! Leave that fivesome $#@! to Hansen Dam, Whispering Lakes and Brookside. Don't mess up a fine golfing experience for the rest of us by allowing this kind of an abomination on a Saturday!! Like my good friend Murrlaw1 said...raise the rates if you need to....but for God's sake...DON'T EVER put us through that torture again!!

Not to mention....the sending off of the Korean American Association double-shotgun golf tournament (I'm not kidding, folks....Father Cheese does *not* lie...and you can call the course and check with them. If I'm lyin' - I'm dyin!) on the seventh hole at 8:00 in the bloody morning on a Saturday!!!!!

Lord have mercy!!

I loved this one poor marshall's answer to our plaintive cry: "Well - - it's not the fivesome's fault...it's the tournament ahead of them."

Freaking brilliant answer, Einstein.

We waited on every shot for five+ hours.

It was getting to be such a joke that I checked the clock on the golf-cart GPS - - IT TOOK US ONE HOUR AND TEN MINUTES TO PLAY HOLES 16, 17 AND 18!! And, it took us two hours to play the first seven holes!! Any wonder WHY... with a double-shotgun start tournament gumming up the works??!!

Oh...and get THIS....several times (while waiting for the two groups also on the tee with us to tee off on 16 and 17 - - we get the big red screen on the GPS that says "Gentlemen, please keep up with the group ahead of you - you are falling behind!"

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Oh, how I wish there was a "return to sender" button where I could have said "%$#@ OFF!!!" to the clubhouse!!

Note to Eagle Glen management: If you're gonna ruin the one-and-only golf day per week that many of us loyal customers of Eagle Glen have per week - - at least HAVE THE COMMON DECENCY TO TELL US when we call to get our first-in-the-morning Saturday tee-time that you're letting (I know - - I'm getting redundant here...but I want all of my Greenskeeper.org comrades to understand the gravity of this situation!) A FREAKING DOUBLE-SHOTGUN START KOREAN AMERICAN ASSOCIATION GOLF TOURNAMENT go-off in front of the early-birds... and will cause them to have a five-hour-plus long torture session!!!

The trust factor built of-late by the management of Eagle Glen has gone in the proverbial crapper after my Saturday experience.

The course is in fine condition. Fairways are perfect. Greens are good and receptive to all shots.

But there is NO excuse for what happened to all of us on Saturday.

If these were, indeed, "management decisions" - - a' Dios, Eagle Glen.

I'm done.

WARNING-EAGLE GLEN NOW ALLOWS FIVESOMES! SLOW PLAY ALERT!

We played Sat May 3rd, with a 7AM tee time. We knew we were in trouble when the fivesome in front began spraying it in every direction. Rangers? Sure we saw them-one even commiserated with us and said, "nothing we can do, management decision." We asked that they get them to keep up with the group in front-most of the morning they couldn't. They shrugged their shoulders and drove away. About mid morning, they let out a large double shotgun-which started on the 7th hole. Needless to say, we wound up with a five-hour round starting ~ 7:00AM. Even the fivesome had to wait. A major disappointment on an outstanding layout.

Eagle Glen is a Great golf course with very fair pricing-or so I thought. An early Sat round should never be ruined by slow play. I guess you get what you pay for. Message to Eagle Glen: Please stop allowing fivesomes and go ahead and raise your primetime green fees so we don't have to suffer 5-hour+ rounds!

Played 5-2. Had a 1:34 tee time, got on the first tee at about 2:05. almost 5 1/2 later we finished. Even though they were over booked the staarters did a good job of keeping order. In al fairness, marshales did all they could to hurry along the 2 groups in front, it was a bit windy so play was hard for most. The course itself was enjoyable and mostly green in all the places you expect. The greens now look as if they have recovered enough to be mowed tight and rolled, but then again I don't profess to be a expert, they are a little shagy and bumby, but just as playable as any munie around.

We are worried, we really like this place, but, somethings wrong. Greens as expected were a bit shaggy due to recent punching, but they played well, tough but still fun. Front 9 as usual was fun and very nice looking. Back 9 is what we are worried about. Lots and lots of bare muddy areas on fairways, around bunkers, everywhere. The middle is OK, but just off the center it isnt pretty. Bunkers on back 9 are a mess. Soft sand, next bunker is a mud pit. We do very much hope this is temporary, we will wait for posting advising alls well, again, we want to return, but there are choices. Great track, gotta get back in shape.

Greens were punched last week so they were slow, but as expected. The great thing was, Eagle Glen lowered the price from $90 to $49. Great concept! The rest of the course was in pretty good shape, although there were quite a few brown areas on the fairways and rough.

Played this course on friday (4-11-08). We got there an hour before our tee time and already knew that they were running behind. There were three groups waiting on the tee box. I don't blame the star... Continue »

Played this course on friday (4-11-08). We got there an hour before our tee time and already knew that they were running behind. There were three groups waiting on the tee box. I don't blame the starter, this is just a wonderful course with a great price and so many people will come to play this course. As usual the fairway and greens are great. Unfortunately, some golfers don't seem to fix their ball marks on the greens. The weather was a bit on the warm side, but we saw the beverage cart often. If you are looking for a course with great conditions, scenic views, great service, and excellent price, then this is the place for you. A big thank you to the superintendent for a good job maintaining and continuing to improve the course.
