The General is in AWESOME shape right now. The greens were as smooth as a baby's bottom, lush dark green and very true. They break toward the flightline of the base in the distance. The tee boxes were a little suspect, but they are redoing some, so it is being addressed. Service is friendly and the pace of play was great. Fairways are excellent for the most part. Their version of rough is more the hardpan if you miss the 1-2 inch 1st cut. No deep stuff here, but then the hardpan is tough to hit off of. Bunkers are nice because there is not too much sand in them. Just enough so you can control the action out of them. No 3" deep fried eggs here. Great round and worth the price for sure.

The General was smiling down on his old course today, the course was overall in very good shape the greens are smallish and the fairways in good condition for the closing of winter. It is a very traditional lay-out with some very nice holes, the 18th plays 567 from the blue tees and is a great finishing hole with the largest green on the course. You will enjoy this old gem. Play it soon.

The price was very good. I will go back again. I went on as a single with a foursome in front of me and I still finished in less than 4 hours. And I got lunch with it.

Well, its a lot tougher than that for me. Greens are great, but the rest of the course is a little rough. I assume the regulars,a fun bunch, like it this way and I like the track the way it is. Price is right and you always know what you are going to get. Staff is terrific, very friendly. Great practice facility,, wish I lived closer.

This coarse is generally in good condition. I just played it this last weekend and found many areas in the fairways were soaking wet and muddy. The greens were aerated 2 weeks ago and are still very slow and bumppy. I generally ride in a cart and everytime I have rented one it dies out on me at sometime in the round.

I play here 3-4 times per month. I drive from Orange County because the course is in good shape, good greens and good price. There are no public courses in OC that come close to this one for value a... Continue »

I play here 3-4 times per month. I drive from Orange County because the course is in good shape, good greens and good price. There are no public courses in OC that come close to this one for value and I've played all of them. For example I can play 3 rounds at the General or I can zip on up the road and play 1 round at Black Gold here in Yorba Linda for the same price. Believe me, BG is not 3 times better than Old. The course could be strengthend by adding more fairway bunkers. Currently the worst thing about the course is the teeboxes. They have gotten really bad and must be reworked.

This course is not a 7.0 (great), but worth the $30 special with a cart, hot dog, and soda. The greens were in overall good conditon, but that was about it. Thank you to all the military guys and gals... Continue »

This course is not a 7.0 (great), but worth the $30 special with a cart, hot dog, and soda. The greens were in overall good conditon, but that was about it. Thank you to all the military guys and gals for their service, however, if you suffer from "Gulf War Syndrome," don't play here. There was an M-16 going off all day, about a quarter mile away. The jets flying sorties around us were a cool sight, but a distraction. Tee boxes were crabgrass, many fairways with G.U.R. (ground under repair) circles. I repeat not a 7.0+, more like a 4.0. Stay in O.C. and play a better course for the same money. The 18th hole was fun from the tips, about 560 plus yards. Good greens, cool starters, and cold water at every other hole are the highlights of this course.
