Played 2/18. Played this course for the first time. Was thoroughly impressed. Staff was great in checking in. Man behind counter gave out a few tips on green reading. Had a fantastic breakfast burrito and went out to range. This driving range was immaculate. I hardly wanted to take a divot. Was called to the first tee and I could tell this place was run efficiently. Signs out stating you must make the turn in 2 hours right from the beginning. Furthermore they allow walking and this is a great course to walk too, relatively flat and tee boxes close to greens. Although, we waited between shots we made the turn in 2 hours. Fairways were firm and lush. great condition. Greens were very good, quick and rolled true. Stay below the hole. chipping areas green side were nicely maintained and provided a good option to be creative. I can't wait to go back. Absolutely worth the trip to get there.

Not sure what happened but the course sure has changed in just 5 days. I played last Thursday and course was nice, played yesterday and greens and bunkers have gone down hill. Greens are brown with dead spots, harder than a cart path and what ever sand they had in the bunkers is gone. Will definitely be back but I hope it turns around and gets to its previous condition. Good luck to the seniors who are going to be trying to pre-qualify for the Toshiba in a couple of weeks.

Played the Goose on a Thursday 2/14. I have played this course 1/2 dozen times or more in the last couple of years, and my review would not vary much at all, it is quite simply the best in the area, in terms of maintenance and professionalism.
I play the majority of my golf right here in the IE, most of the greens here in the IE are great right now, fairways? not so much. But here at the Goose they are near perfect. I forgot what it was like to have your ball sit up so nicely, under lush uniformed grass and soft soil. At other courses, your ball is likely to be between clumps of grass, thin lies and very hard soil. By the time I adjust to hitting from this crap, it will be spring.
Professionalism:
Somewhere at the top, management here has decided that reputation and playability are at the top of importance, profits below that. You can see how a lot clubs do the opposite.
1) They close the club down for maintenance for at least a week. (oversedding etc).
2) They allow 10 minute intervals between start times and the starter will not let you out until the group ahead is on the green.
This course could make a hell of a lot more profit, if they chose to cut a few corners. They choose not to, it wouldn't be the the Goose! if they did. I dont play this course on the weekend, but I bet it is one of the few that has good POP. Highly Recommend.

My GK marker made its appearance out here and it definately was a conversation starter.

I thought it would be to big, but I like it, I deffinately never lost site of it like I have with my old ball markers, almost certain you can see it from the T-box.

I really like this course. Only problem today was the pin placements. They had a pre-qualifier for the Northern Trust so the PGA set up the pins and the course did not move them back so there was no way to know if they were front. middle, or back. They also said the greens were fast but I left a number of putts short as to me they were slow as I played Oak Quarry last week and they were a lot faster. They still need to put more sand in the bunkers. But I will be back as this is one of the best a round.

Pros- Course is immaculate right now. I have played it a few times over the last month and have refrained from posting because I knew I would post after the event. Fairways have some bare spots from the frost but overall, course is just a great test of golf. Greens were rolling a 12 and they had no pitch marks. Course was close to perfect.
Cons- None
Overall- Shot 76 in the event. Not earthshattering but respectable. Anyways, love the course, always coming back

Played 1/27 with LAGG group. I agree with all the previous reviews regarding course condition. Outstanding for this time of year and a pleasure to play on as compared to the dry dormant conditions typically found elsewhere.

What stood out for me regarding the layout is the many fallout areas on the greens, you have to hit the right part of the green to stay on as balls tend to collect so that you are chipping back up on the green. Great feature of this course.

Pace of play on a Sunday was great at 4 hrs, with very little waiting.

The customer service for our large group was fantastic and it was appreciated. Everyone that i came in contact with was helpful and accommodating. Great facility from the staff to practice areas and a fun challenging course. Wish i lived closer but will be back as its well worth the 1+ plus drive.

THE place to go right now for conditions. After a few days of good rain, this place holds up very nice. Great layout with many risk/reward shots on doglegs. Greens were good overall, with the occasional ball mark concern here and there. The few times I found a fairway, it was as lush and green as I could ask for. In my home down in the rough, it was good enough to hit out of and maintained well. The bunkers that I saw others in looked good, although the one I was in was pretty firm, likely due to previous rain. When I played in these bunkers before, they were great. Fun round and always in good time. Our group waited about every other hole for the group in front of us to finish, yet we still finished just under 4 hours.
The range area is ok, $5 for a small bucket, grass range with a few poles to hit at, only concern is the stalls (wood separators) are a bit close together and you have to matrix out of the way when the person next to you swings their driver. Large practice putting green as well.
This is a place that I will attend upon anyone's request & is valued well. If it's within your driving range, or even a bit out, come check it out.

This was my second time at the Goose. I am happy to say the course conditions are not suffering from the weather. Here we are in mid winter and I would say the course is playing great. There is good coverage of green fescue everywhere. There are no areas of dormant bermuda or kikuyu grasses. There were thin areas in a couple of fairways, but it was not bad by any means. The rough was thick, but mowed to a manageable length allowing balls to sit up nicely. The two bunkers I was in had nice, soft, white sand; perhaps a little wet from the recent rain, but better than most of the courses I play. The greens are challenging with multiple contours and run off areas where you cannot hold the green if you are not familiar with them and hit to the wrong spots. At $54 to ride and a pace of 4 1/2 hours, it was a good day.

It's been quite a few years since I first played Goose Creek, so I was looking forward to getting out there again today with the LAGG guys. The weather cooperated (other than the wind) and we had plenty of fun. After the last few rounds I've played in LA County, the Goose was Shangri-La! Still one of the best courses in the IE for sure. For winter, the course was in excellent overall shape. There were some thin spots in some of the fairways and some brown patches here and there as previous reviews have described, but in general very nice for this time of year. The greens were excellent, too. They are tough here. Huge with a ton of undulation and nasty false edges to put a premium on good shot-making. This course gets a lot of love on GK and it still lives up to the hype in my opinion. We paid a $54 twilight rate which isn't bad for a weekend. Their normal weekends rack rates are more than I prefer to pay, though, but worth every penny for twilight and/or weekday prices.
