Played a free b-day round here Wednesday at 8:15. Walked on as a single and was put in the next group out, finishing in just under 4 hours. Course is not a hard walk, except a few long stretches betwee a few holes and a couple of short hills.
Greens had some speed, and overall rolled well, although a couple bumpy spots here and there due to unrepaired marks. Fairways are decent. All green, yet not the smoothest to hit from. Rough was very inconsistent. Some areas were really thick, where you had to go iron, where as some areas were bare. Tee boxes were decent, and no experience today in a bunker but looked pretty nice. My only complaint was the amount of little gnats around, caused me to back away from a shot or two here and there, was very annoying. Layout is nothing too exciting, but not a bunch of the same holes with different numbers on them either.

Played on 5/8 and overall the course is in good shape. When we arrived we were told that they were about 10 minutes behind schedule and that was exactly what it was. As for the course the fairways were in good condition and the rough was that, rough, sometimes thick and deep and other times very thin and harpan.
The greens were disappointing to me because they looked great, but the were soft and very slow. I left a few downhill putts very short. With the greens being slow, the breaks were not there. Hit your putts straight at the hole, which is hard for the brain to do when the eyes see a slope.
The fairways were in good condition and had good roll.
Bunkers were mostly good with lots of soft sand, but a few were very thin. Maybe they just haven't added more sand to those yet.
Pace was a little slow, but not horrible.
Marshals were out in force yesterday, even talking to the twosome behind us for hitting into us 3 times on the front nine, two of which hit our cart. After hole 12 they were nowhere to be found.
Only thing REALLY bad about green River is the lack of cart paths. Hold onto your drinks and watch your back, you'll be in for a bumpy ride.

Played on 4/20/12 at 7:20. The course was in the best shape I've seen in the past year. Well worth the $34 thru Golf Now. The staff was very friendly from the starter to the grounds keepers. We saw a lot of grounds keepers maintaining the course. The tee boxes, fairways, greens and sand traps were all in good shape. We picked a good day in that there wasn't any wind.

While I am not a great fan of the new "condensed" layout, Green River represents good basic golf for reasonable $$. ($17 to walk for seniors) The greens were really much better than I expected, very nice! Soft and receptive and rolled very true. The Bunkers were also in good condition. The rest of the course was average at best.

As a senior, a few of the "new" holes, from the tips really present a challenge to reach in regulation. #10 is particularly long now, and 15 went from a birdie hole to a strong 4 par. Miss the old 36 hole layout, but still worth an occasion trip to play.

A pretty relaxing course here when the wind isn't blowing. Went on a email special of $29 including a cart at 11 am, finished up at 3:20. Wind didn't hit till about 2:30, but it wants as bad as I thought. Front 9 is interesting with 3 par 3's, 4's, and 5's. Lots of tree trouble here. It isn't a special course to travel to, but a decent track to visit for locals. Fairways are decent, but can get thin. Greens are often a bit bumpy, but look good. Rough is hit or miss, but easy to get out of. Practice greens have a completely different speed than the course greens.

Saw a $29 deal for an 11:59 time today and decided to take advantage. I generally enjoy Green River, though this is only the second time I've played the new "condensed" 18. I still like the old full Riverside course better than what we get now. They took out several of the most interesting holes on the Riverside side, but kept some of the more interesting ones on the old Orange side, so not bad. The course was in pretty nice shape for winter. Fairways and rough have grown in nicely. A little patchy here and there, but overall very nice for this time of year. The greens were in nice shape. The putts seemed really slow on the practice green, but played much firmer and quicker on the actual course. It was really windy this afternoon, so that makes this course play much tougher (especially on some of the longer holes out here).

Though my tee time was set for 11:59, it wasn't until about 12:40 before we teed off! The starter was rather rude to me and the first tee was quite disorganized. Several groups waiting there and nobody quite new what was going on or who was going off next. The pace was pretty slow on the front, but we still finished in just under 5 hours, so not horrible for a weekend out there.

I play here a lot. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The course is getting better. The greens keeping staff have really brought the greens into nice shape. The fairways and tee boxes are in need of the same special detail and this place would be fantastic.

There is a very nice short game area available for rental ($10 hr I think) that is fantastic with two bunkers and about 50- 60 yards to pitch from. The green is the old Orange #8 so it is a great area to use to practice. This is just one of the very innovative ideas and programs the new Pro has implemented. I also like that the staff has started marking the ground under repair areas with paint and ropes. A couple of things I would like to see are divot mix boxes on the par three tee boxes and a sand bottle refill station at the 10th tee area.

If you haven't played here in a while I think you will notice the positive changes. Keep up the good work, it has not gone unnoticed.

Played Monday January 2nd. Second off so round was at a good pace, less than 4 hours. Greens were a bit bumpy, Fairways were a nice mixture of brown and green sod, good lie's for the most part. Rough is not difficult right now, be more worried about the abundance of trees in your way if your in the deeper stuff. Tee boxes were average, more than half are not level starting with the first tee. Sand was very good, fluffy, consistent from one to the next and none of those little rocks we all love so much. Overall for $34 dollars with good customer service, a very playable golf course and a sub 4 hour round, I would go back.

Played mid-morning Saturday, 11/12/ in a club tournament - no way you could get me here otherwise. Barely muni conditions in revised layout salvaging 18 holes out of 36 after the Corps of Engineers bulldozed almost half the course for a new flood control channel. 12 holes from old Riverside course, 6 from Orange. Greens inconsistent - some very firm and others mushy, most of the mushy toward the east end of the course. Rolled well and pretty quick. Fairways shaggy and inconsistent, lots of muddy dirt roads and paths, sand was good. A last resort.
