Played 10/15/2011. This course is one of my favorites in So Cal and definitely worth the drive from the South Bay. Very challenging layout, but the course is in great shape. Tee boxes, fairways, rough, greens, all in great shape, especially compared to the public courses I usually play in LA. Service is top notch. And the 19th Hole has $8 McCallan 12. All in all, best golf experience in So Cal.

Enjoyed Oak Quarry on Sunday Oct 9th, for Anyone that has Not been to this course, it is one of the Best Maintained Muni's in So Cal. It is well worth the drive from the OC. Tee boxes are lush and Flat, Fairways were perfect and Rough is well maintained also and Greens were in good shape, very fast and Challenging. This course is quite the Hidden Gem up in the Rock Quarry. Everything is Top Notch.

First time playing the course. Very challenging course. Some great vistas and scenic holes. Some of them you just have to stand and admire. Hole 14 is almost worth it all by itself. And hole 4 is just really cool.
Very fun to play, but difficult to score without knowing where to shoot for. We were very lucky and got teamed up with a person who played the course often and that help allot. The wind can blow there and it was when we played. Which made shooting from the blues even longer than the 6,660 listed. But it did take some of the bunkers out of play and there are plenty of them. I was not very fond of the Bermuda grass around the greens. Since I was there often!! If you don't make perfect contact or sweep the ball off clean, it really grabs your club and makes those touch shots very difficult. I noticed our single putted when ever he could. That might be the smarter play?? We played on a Sunday and it was very busy but would love to play there again.

Played here again on 9/26. We were almost the first twosomes out at 6:52 (was a single ahead of us). Pace of play was great, didn't see anyone else and finished under 3.5hrs. Course was in decent shap... Continue »

Played here again on 9/26. We were almost the first twosomes out at 6:52 (was a single ahead of us). Pace of play was great, didn't see anyone else and finished under 3.5hrs. Course was in decent shape, a tad worse then when I played it 2 wks ago (see previous review for more details). They will be doing maintenance at the end of October. But all in all, still one of my favorite courses an a great value.

Today was my first round here. I've always heard a lot about this course, and was curious to see whether I would like it. Here's the lowdown: SERVICE = A. When we arrived, we were met immediately and given assistance with our clubs. The starter was very nice, informative, and genial. There were on-course marshals; they also were informative and friendly. Beverage cart service was frequent and efficient. On-course water buckets were filled, and bathrooms were clean. The clubhouse bathroom may be the cleanest men's room in all of SoCal. They were stocked with lotions, mouthwash, scented candles, clean floors and sinks. Lunch service was friendly and prompt; we didn't even have to ask to have our drink glasses refilled. After the round, our clubs were cleaned and driven out to our car. The service is as good as any in SoCal. THE COURSE: The layout is interesting and fun. Each hole has different options. Fairways were lush, and among the best I've played this year anywhere; really top notch. Rough was fairly uniform and lush. Greenside bunkers were top notch too; the sand is consistent and smooth. Fairway bunkers yielded tight lies, which make them easier to hit out of. Chipping areas were lush, not super tight, but smooth. My only complaint was the condition of the greens, but I think they may have aerated not long ago. They were a little hairy and bumpy today, but you could tell they probably run faster and smoother on a typical day. The scenery is pretty awesome in several areas of the course. Be prepared for some wind here; I think this course pretty much is a wind tunnel. CONCLUSION: The weather today was perfect - about 74 degrees and sunny...which is rare out here. The conditions were terrific, and the service was excellent. I'd want to play here a couple more times before I'd put it into the rotation, but it's off to a great start.

Played 9/7/11. Course is in beautiful shape. Fairways are lush and green, greens, although a little bumpy in spots were better than when I played here a couple of weeks ago. Starter said they had been punched and rolled, but I saw only very minor evidence of punches. No sand on greens so they should be good until regularly scheduled maintenance in late October. Bunkers have improved. Bunkers I played from or saw had good amount of sand, although if I had to nitpick, it is not the nice fine soft sand you would really like to play from. Kind of heavy and coarse, but again, a vast improvement. Got around in 3.5 hours, very little traffic, probably due to 100+ temperature. Good service inside and out, beverage cart very active and was available 4 times during the round. Pretty good food in the clubhouse as well. One of my all time favorite SoCal courses...Very unique layout with different shots required throughout. Par 3 14th is just about worht the the price of green fee. Always good specials to find if you look. Enjoy!

This was my 3rd time playing this course, but most enjoyable. We had a twosome that teed off at 7am. They gave us the internet special of $50 (great value) per person. The course was pretty much empty. The course was in great condition, consider it has been really hot of late. Played Oak Valley last week and felt that it was really comparable. Greens were running a tad slow, but no bare spots. I have always love the scenery of this course. We finished in 3.5 hrs and enjoyed a brunch at the clubhouse afterwards.

Must have teed off a few groups behind jralias on Monday, Sept. 5th at 11AM (on time). Had the $40 discount coupon. This is one of my favorites in SoCal and not disappointed. There was some intermittent rain earlier in the morning and the greens were a little damp and fairly slow - we left a lot of putts short as we were expecting more speed. Rain apparently made the greens susceptible to spike marks, or the groups in front of us were doing the Chubby Checker. Lots of ballmarks on all greens - very disappointing that people don't care more about the course they play. Unraked traps as well. Overall conditions were good, saw the cart girl several times, but no ranger. Some areas in fairways and around greens were mushy/muddy - drainage situations need to be attended to. Pace not too bad - back was slower but we finished in about 4.5 hours. Always recommended.

Played 9/5 mid-morning. Spur of the moment I decided to make the drive out after finding a $60 rate online. Solid 1 hour drive from West LA with no traffic.

Played 9/5 mid-morning. Spur of the moment I decided to make the drive out after finding a $60 rate online. Solid 1 hour drive from West LA with no traffic.

Arrived in light rain, but fortunately, it cleared up after the 2nd hole. Practice range nice as is the starter. Went off on time.

Paired up with a fun couple. Slow foursome in front of us, so waited on most shots. 4.5 hour round, should have been 4.

The course is in excellent shape. Fairways are perfect, tee boxes nice and level. Sand traps are acceptable. Front nine greens are the only downside. Poa grass on most, making them bumpy and rough. The back nine greens are better and smooth. Repair your ball marks!

Customer service is good and everyone was accommodating. Little things like the cart girl not saying "thank you" after tipping is annoying. No paper towels in mens room on 9th hole. Ball washer on cart didn't work. Not big deals, but I tend to notice the small details. Cart guys were nice both on unloading and loading of my clubs.

Played from whites. Target golf, indeed. Small greens. You really need good iron/chipping skills here. Beautiful views all around.

Worth the green fees but shop around - I paid $10 more than others in my group. I recommend this course and will be back.
