I was very disappointed with the greens and bunkers today. The course is hard enough with the swirling wind in the afternoon and then you have to play on bunkers that were too hard and greens very bumpy. The fairways and rough were in great shape, however. I heard there is a change in management as a reason for the lousy greens and bunkers. This course plays a good 5 to 10 strokes harder in the afternoon. Every employee is very friendly.

Got to get out after work yesterday afternoon. Pace of play was amazing, we didn't have to wait for a shot until we got to the 13th hole. Greens rolled good but were very slow and soft. Fairways were green but a little shaggy and didn't roll much at all, Rough was awesome, around 2" and pretty easy to hit out of. Tee boxes have some uneven areas but it was still easy to find a level spot and sand terrible as always. Afternoon wind makes this course play pretty long but still had a great time.

Played 6/01/11 7:56 am, I'm writing this against my better judgement. I do not want you to know this course is the best value for your money. I dont want you to know the staff will treat you like a visiting dignitary. I also dont think you should be aware the fairways are like a perfect carpet, the greens may look somewhat splochy but they are smooth and true, or the tee boxes are flat and well kept. But I will tell you this, the bunkers could use some sand, they are generaly hard, but it is what is. And the very worst thing about this course is there are only 18 holes, and this truly great golfing experience comes to an end.

Played 5-14 with RJMKK and Underway 98 who both drove over from Arizona for the Silver rock outing. Tee time (at) 6:44 and we got out right on time. Tee boxes where in good shape. The fairways were excellent. Never had a bad lie the entire round. The rough was about 3" and really tough to hit out of. Greens were smooth and consistent. Some were blotchy some kind of fungus. Per usual the bunkers just plain suck! Rock hard. wet and NO sand. Got around in just over 4 hours. One bad part was the halfway house was not open and no cart until after 9:30. Cart girl said they had a tournament later and had everyone come in late to take care of that. Not the usual good service i've come to expect here.
Overall a very nice Sat. morning and we will be back.

I absolutely love this course. It's scenic and challenging. The bunkers are still like hitting off of cement but after speaking with one of the employees he said it should be better soon and that the last time they added sand they had 70 mph winds that blew the new sand out of the bunkers. Had my first birdie in a long time on #6 so that made the round that much better. Everything was in great condition and the service here is first rate.

Played on Thursday 3/28 with Sbogey. Overall course was very nice-fairways excellent, rough goo, tee boxes level, good, attentive staff and great views. Every hole a different challenge. Greens did not look like a solid green color but were an uneven splotchy green. They were very firm-Steve hit a couple of excellent shots that just would not stop on them.The traps, which I visited on almost every hole and overstayed my time in some, were very hard, very little if any soft sand in some. I put a couple of nicks in my sand wedge hitting out of them. Since it was the last day at a special rate of $25 though a LA Golf show special the course was booked solid but the group we played behind was slow-would have liked to see a marshal tell them to pick up the pace.I think this is a good course which I only paid $25 to play with some great scenic holes but at the normal price, I'd expect them to do some improvement to the hazards.They were poor at best.

Played Thursday afternoon. Very windy. The course is in great shape. Not as perfect as the last time but still great. Bunkers would still be the only negative. Was only in 1 myself and found it fine but playing partners who were in many said they were hard packed. Greens looked like camouflage with patches of light and dark and were not as fast as expected. Balls did bounce a lot which made tough greens tougher. They also did not hold very well. A sand wedge from 75 yrds should not roll uphill from the front of the green and all the way to the back 30 ft. past the hole but they were consistent at least. Always leaves me wanting to get back to play again.

If you have never played Oak Quarry then there are things you can always expect which of course have been pointed out many times. Lush green grass everywhere, amazing views and concrete bunkers. I played 4/20/11 after work at 4:15pm. We had a 3 some in front of us that played pretty slow on the first hole but then really picked up the pace after that. They ended up still letting us play through on the 7th hole which made for a great 1 hour and 20 minute front 9! Of course all good things must come to an end sooner or later and we hit some major traffic once we got to the 10th tee. I do remember the greens being pretty fast which I love but I did forget how much these greens Do Not break. I over read the break on almost every putt but luckily the speed was near perfect every time for solid 2 putts. Tee boxes were unlevel on more tees than I remember but still wasn't very bad. Rough and fairways were absolutly amazing and fairways were pretty fast too. On hole 12 I had the drive of the year for me. We were playing white tees and on the 12th I hit a bomb well over the right hand fairway bunker and continued to run for an amazing 347 yard drive according to the gps. Then I over shot the par 5 green with a 7 iron and wound up with a par. With all the groups in front of us we decided to finish with the 14th hole par 3 from the blue tees playing 166 yards which I think is were the whites usually are. I hit a great shot and the breeze caught the ball a little and it landed in the right green side bunker almost pin high. The bunker was absolutely terrible and hard as a rock and the ball came out way hot and went into the left greenside pot bunker which was even worse. We probably could have gotten in a couple more holes but we called it a day after that. 14 holes is still pretty good for teeing off at 4:15 pm. This course is still one of my favorites but like everyone has stated before, Oak Quarry, PLEASE!!! fix your bunkers and your course would be perfect.

Played Sunday morning, 4/10/11, on a warm sunny day with only light breezes. Course is in great shape, with receptive but fast greens, good fairways, consistent rough. Traps were damp and could use some sand, and at least on #6 had fist-sized rocks in the fairway bunkers. Course allows 5-somes of “members” on weekends – the “members” in front of us had no concept of keeping play moving, so wound up with a 5-hr round – very disappointing. Marshall asked them to move along after #9, but no change in pace resulted. Premium price for Inland Empire area (weekends $95). Saw cart girl a few times. Friendly staff. Recommended, but let’s move along, guys!
