Came back to PGA of Southern California but this time to play the Legends course. Last time I played the Champions course I was very disappointed with the wet conditions. Today on the Legends course, it was a different story. Course conditions were rather good with exception to some bunkers. Greens were rolling true, fairways were lush and not too wet, rough spotting in some place but good, tee boxes a little shaggy but good, and pace of play just under 4 ½ hours. My guess it they are jazzing the place up for the coming Champions Tour Q-School next week. Hope they continue the excellent up keep when the event is over. Either way, I’ll be coming back. The layouts on the Legends & Champions are outstanding and the price is an excellent value.

The course was in really great shape today. If you're able to make a trip out here in the next few days, before the Champions Tour Q-School First Stage (Oct 30 - Nov 4), you will be impressed.

9 Am tee time 9/30. Happy I had a discount, this is one of our favorite tracks, but ya might want to wait a few weeks. greens bumpy,fairways wet and bare spots,traps a mess,too much water. They were hosting some type of Junior Tourny the next day, I hope they played the Champions as a lot of the youngsters with parents appeared to be arriving from far away origins, what a disapointment if the Legends was the destn course. I think in a few weeks it will be fine. I will wait a little while before I return. All other areas , staff, practice area, everything was as usual great. See ya in a few weeks,

Played Legends midday today. Although I've seen this course too wet, as the most recent poster complains, it was just fine in that respect today. Also, it appears that they are putting in some of that good sand that they had put in on the Champions course a while back. Furthermore, there were several areas marked as Ground Under Repair, which is a much appreciated improvement over prior rounds in which no such demarcation had occurred, even though it was obviously warranted. So, good job on these improvements, guys!

Now for the bad news. Although the fairways are dry, several of the bunkers continue to have standing water in them. Also, I don't know what golfingdude is talking about as to the condition of the greens. I'm sure they'll be fine in a few days, but as of today the aerification holes were still visible and in effect. I saw multiple putts ride the troughs created by these holes against the slope of the green. I played Champions on Friday, and the greens had fully recovered there, but Legends has a couple of days left before they're back to form.

All things considered, this course is worth playing, and all the more so in a couple of days when the greens have FULLY recovered from the aerification. Especially once the new sand has been added to all the traps (they were working back from 18, I think, and were on 16 today).

Everyone has their own taste said the old lady when she kissed the cow. I played the course a few days ago with two pros and they were constantly talking about how good the course was and the shame that the conditions were so average. For some reason, which I would ask the greenskeeper to answer, the greens here are punched every six weeks with intermitant sanding and verticuting. We the players wonder when do we ever see the benefit? Almost everyone agrees, with the exception of the previous person, that the traps are seriously neglected due to lack of sand and standing water or damp shallow bottoms. My other player friend, who is a greenskeeper himself, says the fairways are overwatered which is drowning the root system due to lack of oxygen. This condition is exacerbated by players driving over unmarked wet spots causing even more damage. I have read and been told that the reason for overwatering is the hot conditions. Please explain to me how Silverrock, Mission Hills, and Rancho LaQuinta; courses I played in the Sept. heat of the desert, were dry. Maybe I am just too critical, but after many years playing golf, I think I know whether or not a course is in good condition or not.

Yes the greens were punched about 10 days ago but they were completely healed and rolling true, as usual. In fact we will be playing the Champions next week because the price for seniors is great and the courses are too. Maybe the course was played when maintenance was doing their thing, because today there could be no complaints.

I played the course yesterday and enjoyed it for it s scenery and great layout, but there are some real problems here. When do we the players finally see the results of constant sanding, punching and verticuting the greens? They are bumpy and not rolling true. If you are the typical higher handicap golfer, one would probably not be so concerned, but for those of us who work hard on our games, it is annoying and difficult to putt. Some of the traps, hole no. two especially, have standing water. The fairways in most places are great, but look a bit shaggy and wet in others. I see that the maintainance people are putting some white sand on the facing of the traps, but not in the areas where your ball ends up. I would prefer to leave the facing as it is and use the sand where it is needed. There is an obvious lack of money available and this is a real shame. Someone needs to find a solution that brings some serious revenue to the operation. I believe this course could be one of the finest in all of S, CA, if the right people put their heads together,

To many ball marks on the greens. overall condition is mediocre. If you dont mind the conditions, the layout is good, but I suggest wearing old shoes.
