Played on 7/2 and the course was in excellent shape except for the greenside bunkers. For some reason they have been very wet the last couple of months, making them almost unplayable. They are a hazard so maybe we shouldn't complain, just avoid them. Very reasonable price for seniors before 8:00 A.M., otherwise the green fees are high ($75.00) even with range balls thrown in.

Played the legends today and had both positive and negative impression. The good news is that they finally put some sand on the facing upslopes of the traps. This looks good, but the ball still ends up in the muddy,hardpan centers. The worst I encountered was the high weeds just a few feet in front of the 18th tee. I was under par on the back nine and had to search for a spot on the tee so as to avoid what was an obvious and unfair condition. Nevertheless, I hit the weeds and lost at least 25 yards off my drive. I have seen this happen to several players lately with even worse results. I also had to share my cart with a most unsavory character which probably cost me at least two shots.

As usual the Legends was in very nice shape,with bunkers the exception, we had a 7:30 ish tee time thursday,we were a 3 some and our bad luck was we were behind a nice but slow group of Long Beach players that couldnt keep up with thier buddies in front of them, as I said our bad luck,,, but,, marshalls are ,,WHAT,,, $5 an hour and free golf? Never saw a marshall, and they put a 2 some behind us!!! They were really upset. We really like these courses, but as there was no one else in the parking lot we wonder why they didnt put us out on the Champions?? We will be back,, maybe,, a long drive for an early AM tee time and stand around most of the time,,, or,, maybe just bad luck.

I have played the course several times and it is a great track. However, there are some severe drawbacks. The traps are hardpan with little or no sand. Many good rounds have been spoiled due to poor lies and mud. Divots are all over that are unfilled. Ball mark damage is obvious. Pins are not sunk properly and you have the saucer effect along with ragged cup edges. I have never seen a ground under repair sign or limed area. Ball washers have no water. Tees are ok, but have some soft spots that bother your footing. This is a fantastic course that could be the crown gem of all California courses if these problems were addressed. Lack of money is the cause.

Course in great shape: greens were in excellent shape; had only 12 putts on the front nine; Pace of play was slow as we were a twosome playing behind two very slow foursomes. Would highly recommend this course to anyone and a great value at $55 when compared to similiar courses in Las Vegas

Played this morning. The course is in excellent shape - the only complaint is that some of the bunkers lack sand. The service was excellent as well, and one thing they've changed for the better is that instead of giving you a token for range balls, the balls are now stacked on the range. So now you don't have to battle the machine that often didn't work. Now you pay and go straight to the range, minus the stop at the machine or back at the cart barn to pick up the balls. A small thing, but much appreciated. Another small touch - at the tee box on Hole 1, they had a small pot with water in it so you can wet your towel - nice. I played Empire Lakes the day before, and there is no comparison - the PGA facility is much, much better all the way around.

Played on 5/14 -- Course was in good shape. My two biggest complaints are:

- The started indicated that the greens were playing to a 12 on the stimpmeter. There is no way this was accurate. Maybe a 7.5 or 8, but nowhere close to 12. The greens were nowhere close to the indicated speed.

- The bunkers contained more a lot of gravel. I understand the cause and that the Course Super has plans to correct the problem, but it doesn't make up for the fact that they are in poor condition.

Overall it is a good course. I played it a year ago and it was in phenomenal shape. For the most part the same held true again with the exception of the bunkers. I would recommend that every at least give it a try. It is a test of total golf skill and plays nearly a half stroke to a full stroke per hole more difficult that others I've played recently.

This course is in fantastic condition. Play more difficult than Champions because of bunkering around greens. Some very long par 4s. Greens are quick and have a lot of subtle breaks that can wreck havoc on those short putts. The par 3 fourth hole will show you why an extremely short hole can be so treacherous. Excellent facility worth the green fee. Price includes range balls which is a nice touch, more courses should follow their lead.

Course is in immaculate condition, except for the greens which have recently been punched/sanded. I was told on the phone that there were only 'a few holes' on the green. What I wasn't told was that there was lots of sand. The greens which are usually litning fast were slowed down quite a bit (good), but they were extremely bumpy (bad).

The first 5 holes are extremely narrow with very long rough and I was concerned that I would run out of balls. The course then opens up and is extremely playable on the back 9.

Practice areas (driving range, putting green, chipping area, sand bunker area) are extremely nice. You could easilty spend an afternoon just using these facilities to work on your short game.
