Played on 7/17/04 - a Saturday. Called our early due to no-show by earlier foursome. Played all day without a single player behind. Course was in great shape. Get on the e-mail club and play everyday at a discount. Great course.

Played Legends last week. Sand traps were terrible. Top half were muddy, like they had filled in holes and did not rake them afterwords. Greens had been sanded. Ball rolled and rolled. No one said a word about the greens in club house. Huge pet peeve. Won't go back for awhile. Expected a lot more from one of best in So Cal. 9+ rating just went to 6.

Finally made the drive. Worth the trip, although it did fall a little short of expectations. Greens were not very smooth, had numerous UNFIXED(jerks) ball marks, and were slow. Bunkers were very thin ... Continue »

Finally made the drive. Worth the trip, although it did fall a little short of expectations. Greens were not very smooth, had numerous UNFIXED(jerks) ball marks, and were slow. Bunkers were very thin and hard. Being a first time player, I should've done more research since there are a few blind shots without the help of a scorecard map or GPS. Otherwise the rest of the course was great. Our threesome finished in 3 hours(3+3 driving=one round in LA), being held up only by the kid who took way too much time to turn off the sprinklers for us.

Played at 740a on Sat, May15. What a round. Weather was terrific, and the course was in absolutely perfect condition. Greens were rolling fast and smooth, even with a little morning moisture. Fairways, tee boxes, etc, all in A-1 condition. What a value for the $68 internet fee. Get out here now and play before the houses go up...probably not a better overall facility in all of SoCal - especially for the price.

Always enjoyable and worth the drive to play this course. Overall conditions were terrific (tee boxes, fairways and greens) but most bunkers were sparse with little sand and gravel resulting in scratched clubs). Pace of play starting on a late weekday morning was good at around 4 hours.

brother and i played both champions and legends on 3/26. though champions seems to get the higher ratings we both much preferred the legends course--each hole unique, dramatic bunkering, very good (though a little slow) greens and beautifully conditioned fairways. $47 afternoon price is more than a bargain. only two criticisms: not enough sand in some of the bunkers and idea of a 473yd (blue tees) par four into the wind (albeit downhill) followed several holes later by a 462yd par 5 with the wind was a little strange. these are minor issues, however. the course is fantastic and i will try to play it again when i visit southern california.

Fantastic layout, great staff, conditions immaculate could not have been a better overall experience. Well worth the two plus hour drive for us to get there. Weekday afternoon fee of $47.00 is a joke vs. what we pay to play in Ventura Co. Only regret is this course is not closer to home.

Played the morning of 3/14/04. We arrived with an internet tee time, but were running a little behind, so we asked if we could push back our start just a bit. The staff was very accommodating - no questions asked. The range is immaculate, as is the practice bunker. With the recent rains, the scenery was terrific; lush hills and snow on the mountains. The course is in terrific shape, although the rough is a little high and the bunkers need more sand. The fairways generally are a little more closely mown than when we played, but that is a very minor complaint. Overall, the course is in tip top shape...plus, the all beef hot dog is one of the best around. Be sure to sign up for the internet fares on scpgagolf.org (I think) - it makes a difference!
