Course management was the big issue perhaps. But there are some maintenance issues you should be aware of too before making the trip out here. Holes 2-6, all the fairways had been thatched and some had been punched - also, they have been watering those ones pretty hard so some were quite swampy too especially with the fresh mud plugs. Other fairways were decent, about 60-40 with green grass versus burnt out areas. Tees were great and sand looked good although I never visited it.

Greens were slower than sludge - probably the 2nd slowest I have played all year. I would generously say they ran about 7 although they did speed up some as the day wore on. I know it's been hot so they had been heavily watered and VERY soft. As a result, quite bumpy in spots as well.

I would rate the course around 6 to 6.5 overall. Most aggravating was the mental starter. Teed off on 1 right under his gaze and he said nothing. Then comes speeding out 10 holes (yes, that's 'TEN' - not a typo) later to inform us that we had teed off on the wrong nine and we should have started on #10 instead (he didn't mention anything on #1). 10 holes late to make that announcement. Apparently he claimed we were holding up a tournament (there was nobody behind us) so he made us pick up and go to the next tee where we ran into a slow foursome already teeing off. Bizarre. Course Marshall had passed us twice and said nothing.

This review is for two rounds that we played at Redhawk the weekend of 6/16 and 6/23. To start, Redhawk is an incredible layout and one of my favorite golf courses. I think that the set of par 3's on this track are the best around and the rest of the holes give you everything you can ask, from risk-reward short par 4s to reachable par 5s to water hazards and tough holes into the wind. So, I really can't say enough about the layout.

On 6/16 I played with my dad for Fathers Day and had a great time. Service at Redhawk is top notch and they didn't disappoint, even though they had a big group going out behind us. We were paired with another twosome and teed off at 9:10. The round only took about 4 1/2 hours, but the biggest thing was the spectacular conditions the course was in. I would have to say that everything about the conditions was tour quality. Outstanding. The next weekend however was a slightly different story. We teed off at almost exactly the same time and it took about 6 hours to play the round. That is absolutely unacceptable. There was a group ahead of us, but that is no excuse. There is nothing wrong with the course marshal moving someone ahead or moved off the course if they are ruining the day for everyone else. On top of that, the greens had been punched, albeit with small holes, and we were not notified. It was too horrible, and I should have asked I guess, but still, it was disappointing.

All in all, Redhawk is a must play right how. I might give it a couple more days for the greens to fully heal, and you might ask if a group is playing that day and get in ahead of them, but I will be back to Redhawk soon and often.

We played here on 6/8/12 and the course is in excellent condition. Fairways and greens are the best I've seen them. Traps are very average, could use some more sand. The staff was very helpful. The marshall did a good job keeping play moving, saw him at least 5X during the round. Also, great place for lunch. Check their Rewards program (for preferred rates) it's a great deal.

Course has greened up over the last couple weeks. Looks as if greens were done not long ago also - can seen quite a bit of sand under the surface. Greens rolled very well with good speed (sure would be nice if everybody fixed their marks). Staff friendly as were the twosome we were paired with. Green fees a little steep, but a must play every now and then. Great course with nice views of the Temecula Valley on several holes.

Somehow I have never made my way to Redhawk before, finally played it today. This is a tough course, I didn't hit the ball well but regardless it would be difficult to post a score considering the wind, greens and the places they tucked flags. There were several holes where you had just a yard or two to land the ball to get it close.

Greens were hard and quick, fairways were good, a little thin in some spots. Sand appeared to be good but I was in a single trap. Rough was thick and tee boxes appeared to have a little divot damage.

Played Redhawk with one of my friends yesterday Monday 5/14. I had read great things about the course and finally made it out there to play. i was able to get a tee time for $45 on golfnow which made red hawk maybe the best value i have played in a long time. Everything about the course is nice. the tee boxes were level and well manicured with multiple other tee boxes that could be used. i would assume the rotation of the tee boxes is what keeps them nice. the greens were a little slow but they were consistently slow thru out the whole course so once you found the speed they rolled perfectly true with no ball marks on a single green that i could think of.
this is a truly risk reward course that demands accurate approach shots into what are usually multi tiered greens with some sever breaks and slope in them. The par threes are some of my favorite par three's i have ever played. they share a common theme in being down hill par threes to a relatively large landing area that require accurate distance control with your irons, #17 is a 200yrd downhill par 3 with about 200ft in elevation change from the tee to green, you can favor the left side because anything short left will hit the hill and bounce back onto the green going right leaves you in the trees. you then pass thru a tunnel and play 18 a nice par 5 that will give you the chance to make birdie i went 3 wood to just before the creek wedge layup right before the water then a gap wedge to the green for a good birdie opportunity. I just cant say enough about redhawk, great course and i can't wait to get out there again.

Played 4/28 course was in excellent condition. Played as a Twosome and had a single put with us. Had to educate him on just how much time you spend looking for a ball!!!! Every aspect of this course was great, fairways were lush and were easy to play from, sand was Augusta white and Fluffy, greens ran true and fast. Cart girl was seen 3 times on the round, practice facilities may be a little small for warm up, but the putting greens give a true light as to what is in store for you. Get your a game out because if you slice or hook your going to need that extra sleeve. Get out with your buddies and play here, what a great round.

Played here on 3/16 for the first time since last summer and the greens are in above average condition except for 3 holes where the CA mud hens have actually eaten the grass to the bare dirt in spots on these 3 greens BUT the maintenance guys have put up some barriers that seem to be working. These 3 greens are still very playable. Fairways are dormant but have some body to them. Some of the sand traps are in poor condition. Great customer service! Also, great lunches available at Ricco's. Check out their web site as their Member's Reward program has some good deals.
