Played Redhawk for the first time today after snatching up a great deal on underpar.com. I really liked this course. It's in great shape. I didn't land in a bunker so I can't speak for their conditions but the fairways and greens were pristine. The layout is a lot of fun and no two holes look alike. I would definitely recommend this course.

Played this course for the first time this Wednesday morning. A beautiful day on an equally beautiful course. Tee boxes were lush and level - about a 9 out of 10. Fairways were outstanding, Greens were medium speed and rolled pretty true. Didnt hit too many bunkers, but from what I could gather most thought they were pretty fluffy. The course itself really rambles through some housing tracs, very scenic course I thought.
Driving Range was pretty iffy, for an $8 large bucket you get about 80 balls and hit off mats, couldn't even see the "Red" flag out there at 130yds as it sits well below the tee area. I would highly recommend this course to anyone reading this. Hole #8 is the gem of this course.

Greens were recently punched and sanded - which would have been nice to know when tee time was made! Probably would have still played....but really. The warmer days have greened up the fairways and turned the rough into the 'Ball Monster'. You do NOT want to miss the fairways in the long thick rough - if you do GOOD LUCK finding your Balls. The course should be great in a couple weeks.

Always a pleasure to play Red Hawk. Outside services is great, Gina the Head Golf Professional runs a great program. Being a past location for PGA Tour qualifying, you know you will get a challenge and great layout. Food is awesome (chicken tacos) and I love #18 the reachable par 5. All golfers need to take the drive and play Red Hawk annually.

Played Saturday after a day/night of rain. It slowed the greens down, but they're still tough as usual. Conditions are about the same, fairways are still dormant but some areas are showing improvement. Course looked pretty open while we were warming up at the range, but sure slowed down around our tee time. Round took over 4.5 hours. We were waiting on 2 groups in front, then had 3 groups behind us that were constantly waiting/hitting into us. That'll teach me for playing mid-morning on a weekend...

Played on Feb 11 and the greens are in great shape, smooth, fast and holding. Fairways are VERY thin. Actually you will get a better lie in the rough. Most sand trap have very little sand. About 1 " of sand then hard pan. Pace of play was slow at over 4 1/2 hrs. Saw the marshall numerous times but he did little to improve the pace of play. Can't wait for spring for the fairways start getting some body! Otherwise a challenging layout except for the ridiculous fourth green.

Tee time 1142, got off first tee shortly after 12. 5.5 hr round. Fairways dormant, lots of dead patches in rough, bunkers not good, greens were heavily marked, lots of bouncing on putts.

Tee time 1142, got off first tee shortly after 12. 5.5 hr round. Fairways dormant, lots of dead patches in rough, bunkers not good, greens were heavily marked, lots of bouncing on putts.

Overall a crappy day.

Won't be back anytime soon!! Much rather play Cross Creek if I am going to drive up there.

Played Red Hawk Golf Club today 1/16/13. The course is in its dormant stage right now, but you still receive good lies in the fairways, although a bit tight for my taste. Now for the bad. The greens were in poor condition, shaggy loaded with ball marks and a real serious oil leak from one of the mowers. The worst of the Greens were the first 5 holes, it was a very difficult day trying to get a line then, making sure you could putt that line due to the conditions that were presented on this day. The Coyote decoys that guarded the greens on water holes #3,8,18, are gone and are replaced by a Three Foot wall of Chicken wire on all green elevations facing the water, to deter the Black Koots from landing on the Greens, which really stinks on the island green #8, as it really alters the natural beauty of this hole. Three times on the back nine the sprinkler system activated on greens #12,14,17, to such a point they became puddled and the foursome voted and declared them unplayable due to the standing water.
The sand was some of the worst I have seen. Hard with little to no give,while containing rocks that were at least 1 inch and larger. This held true from Fairway bunkers to Green side Bunkers. What sand I did find in the Green side bunkers was no better than hard pan. Several areas of the course were roped off today including holes #10,13,18 due to repair of what appeared to be drainage tiles.
The tee boxes were very thin and showed lots of wear, with a few being quite un-level. The island Sand Green Tee box #12 was decisively bad when playing from the Black Tees on this day.

Having played this course several times in the past few Winters I was disappointed to find these conditions on the Greens and in the Bunkers. Having said that, this is still a better course that was presented but will require more touch during the winter months to keep golfers coming back.

Played 1/5/13 for $38 via golfnow.com, which was a great deal. all fairways are dormant so it looks terrible but plays fine. i was in 3 sand traps & only one was acceptable, the other 2 were horrendous. the greens are in good shape, very soft, to the point that you can see footprints & distinguish the shoe type/brand of previous players on many greens. overall i enjoyed it, though i didn't score well. i'm already planning on going back to get some revenge.
