Early morning Sunday 4.5 hour round. The staff was short the starter but getting out early wasn't an issue. Trying to book a weekend tee time is an issue now since they've started requiring golfers to use their booking partner (The criminal Golf Now). The carts are in good shape with some having GPS and others not. Some of the tee boxes were thin but all level. The rough is playable where there is some. Many of the holes have thin to no rough which was not an issue. The fairways are in very good condition with great lies from start to finish. Many of the fairways have a mix of dormant to semi dormant Bermuda and other types of grass. The bunkers are are a mix with most being in really good condition. They were all groomed nicely and most had nice white sand. The fairway bunkers were the only issue with compact thin brown sand and a few pebbles. The greens were really nice and extremely quick from start to finish. The front nine greens were a little bumpy with the aeration still visible. The back nine greens were near perfect. The greens had very few ball marks and quickened as the round progressed. The rack rates are still reasonable in comparison to other local courses. That had become an issue with ALL the local valley courses raising their rates ridiculously. Recommended

Early 4.5 hour round on a surprisingly open course. The staff is friendly and the carts are good but now lack gps. The tee boxes were all level with good coverage but needed to be cut. The rough appears to be changing over to the dreaded kikuyu. The holes where it is present were somewhat dried out from the recent warmer weather. Playing from it was not too difficult in the fairways but green side was another story. The dry Kikuyu was thin around the greens and really hard to play from on touch shots for our group. The traps on most holes have been filled with nice white sand which was fairly compact and easy enough to hit from. The greens were not what you usually find either. The first few greens were bumpy and felt like the top inch or so was floating off the sand underneath? Really weird. As the round progressed the greens returned to almost normal but were slightly slower than the usual quick greens you find. Near the end of the round the greens had what appeared to be worm holes in places that resembled small tine marks, which they were not? Strange condition for the greens which are usually firm and quick. The course continues to provide a good test for golfers at a fair rate.

Played last week, course much better shape than when we played it in June. Lots of fun holes, maybe plays a little long from White Tees. As this was the day before Thanksgiving course was really booked up but we still finished in 4 hours 20 minutes, starting at 11:30. Fairway lies good, greens a good quick speed. Bunkers, what can you say a public course some very nice around greens, fairway bunkers as bad as everywhere (when they going to learn to fill in bunkers with sod, knock down any lips and make most fairway bunkers grass bunkers make them playable for everyone and speed up play). Some, not all, green-side bunkers were the soft deep white sand which takes, well a real bunker shot to get out. Will go back again as it was a challenge and fun to play.

Early Sunday morning 4.5 hour round in the showers. The staff is friendly and very efficient at what they do. The tee boxes were all in good condition with the par three holes showing a little wear. You will find a few different types of grass and weeds on any of the tee boxes. The rough has retreated some but once you find your ball you can put a fairly good stroke on it. The fairways are continuing to fill in with the warmer weather and remain green with less than average roll due to their dampness. The traps on most of the holes that surround the greens now have ample nice white sand but are starting to look a like shaggy around the edges. The fairway traps are still compact dirt with pebbles and rocks. Greens remain the best conditioned part of the course with all having complete coverage. The greens are rather large on most of the course and fairly soft compared to years past. The speed of the greens were slowed by the continued morning showers but rolled true. They also held shots very well checking up and backing up on well struck shots. The 4.5 hour round seemed slow but there was a group ahead that had two holes open and was holding up PLAY. We did tell the marshal when he came by on the tenth hole but obviously nothing was done. Weekend rounds can be painfully slow at this course but I shouldn't complain about a 4.5 hour round. Recommended

Early am five hour Sunday round. The tee boxes were all in need of a good trim but did have total coverage from start to finish. The sections of rough that you will find on some holes is not very thick or long. Hitting from the rough was not difficult when I found myself in it. The traps are mostly well manicured with about half of the holes now having nice white sand. The fairway traps are still hard packed dirt/sand with pebbles to watch for. The fairways are very good on some holes and hit and miss on others. The nice fairways have great coverage with few thin places. There are a few holes where the fairways are a bit thin and you might find your ball sitting down on dirt. The greens were in much better condition with great coverage and not too many ball marks. The good shots checked up and the greens appeared to have been rolled finally. The speed was much closer to what is usual for this course which was nice to see. The rates and staff make for a good golf experience. The course conditions continue to slowly improve.

Early morning five hour round on an improving course. Spoke with the new GM here this morning about the course and the area offerings. Said he came over from Crosscreek after ten plus years there. I would say that with the fairly new head greenskeeper and the new GM that things are really turning around. The carts are in nice shape but offer no gps. The tee boxes were all in good condition with a few being a little shaggy but had total coverage. The rough is hit and miss depending on the hole. Most holes have rough with enough length to stop your ball but short enough to make a decent stroke from. The fairways on most of the holes have really nice coverage at the perfect length for a good strike. You will find sections of some holes though that have thin spotty coverage where you will find your ball sitting down on dirt? The traps vary drastically from thin/packed dirt to nice blinding white fluffy sand. Eventually I would think all of the traps will have the nice white sand but it might be awhile. The greens have 100% turf coverage with very few ball marks. The greens were pretty bumpy on almost every hole and the speed varied also throughout the round...frustrating! The course has been continually improving playing conditions every round I've played here in the last year. The rates are reasonable and the course seems to be getting busier every time I return. Definitely recommended.

I'm delighted to leave a positive review for this gem of a course. It's been a favorite since the 80s and 90s but at some point new owners came in and quality deteriorated. Now they're taking good care of the course and it's back in its old form. The RTJ design is great; every hole offers a different look and a different challenge. Brilliant white sand is being added to the bunkers but right now it's damp and very heavy. They look great but are difficult to play from and harder still to rake. Perhaps they'll get better after they dry out. Pace of play was excellent. Thanks to a couple nice groups who let us play through we finished in 3:20 (11am midweek tee-off). Great practice area. Snack bar is minimal but adequate.

Early morning Sunday round in about 4.5 hours. Staff is friendly and carts we had did not have any gps. The tee boxes had fairly good coverage but a few were a little beat up. The rough was not too long but noticeably thinner than the last time here. The fairway lies were mostly very tight and with the drier weather the thinner sections sat your ball down making for challenging times. The traps that had sand were in very nice condition (those that were still lined with black matting had NO sand in them) still? They have been doing some major work on a few holes which has now dragged on for over a month. If you found yourself in a lined trap you had to remove your ball and drop. The greens were a little firm from the cold weather early in the round and a little on the bumpy side. Most greens were in really good condition as they usually are. The greens held good shots and were rolling fairly quick. The green fees remain very fair and they continue to work on the course. Hopefully the work on the course continues to show with improved playing conditions.

Sunday morning round in 4 1/2 hours on a cold, windy and raining day. The staff is really friendly and pleasant from the pro shop to cart attendants. The carts are very comfortable with some having gps and others not. The tee boxes were all in okay condition with several being very beat up and thin from all the hackers. The rough has been cut down to a manageable length which allows locating balls in it not too difficult. The rough will definitely cost you some yardage if you find yourself in it. The fairways continue to fill in nicely with the same type of grass from the first to the last hole. There are still spots on some of the fairways that are a little thin but very much improved over the past years. The fairways actually have dried up some and allowed for roll on good tee shots. The traps are in progress from holes one thru eighteen. Many of the holes had the traps well trimmed and were lined with black matting in preparation for sand. If you were in one you had to remove your ball and drop? No mention when calling for tee time nor when paying green fees. It will be great to see them when they're completed but it would have the right thing to do and make the paying public aware of the construction. The greens have firmed up and quickened up to their usual great condition. They rolled well holding lines with less break than usual on this damp morning. The course is really looking good and with the conditions will bring those back that remember how nice this place was in the past.
